With a coastline this stunning it’s not a surprise that this is the only coastal National Park in the UK. Graced with sandy beaches and rugged cliffs; there are many ways to enjoy this beauty spot. Pack your walking boots, a camera and your cossie for a fun-filled short break.

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is 186 miles long, and most of of it is within the National Park. Walking this path, or a section of it, is an excellent way to appreciate the beauty of sea meeting land. For those of you who like to get active, coasteering, surfing or horse riding are good options. The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is also an idyllic place to relax and enjoy a slower pace of life. From picnics to sunset shots, this National Park is a holidaymakers paradise.

"Firstly the ratings; Putting comfort and equipment together is misleading as a rental can be well-equipped but if the beds are uncomfortable or it's cold, how do you rate it? Cleanliness; we would have rated it average but for something inexcusable...more later. We can't agree that this is a cottage...we live in a cottage and it's unusual, cosy, quaint and old. S21912 is none of these, it's basically an "annex" attached to the owners' own house. We stay in lots of self catering cottages, and they usually come with extensive guidelines/instructions...when to put out rubbish, where are the recycling bins, where is all the equipment stored, etc etc. The guidelines for Sunny Hill were sparse to say the least. Nothing about where to leave rubbish, or where important equipment was stored. Yes, the owner lives next door, but we don't like to be constantly knocking on their door. It's somewhat odd these days to be told to bring one's own bedding. However, when we saw the state of one of the pillows we were glad we had, as it had a number of stains on it that looked very much like blood. I can provide a photograph if needed. Before turning in for the first night I had to search the house for bedside lamps that worked. Neither of those in the downstairs bedroom had working lightbulbs in them, so I had to swap one from upstairs. None of the lightbulbs in the house were energy-saving which is the owners' choice of course, but unacceptable given that the tenant pays for the electricity they use! The Central Heating is controlled by the owner. Halfway through our stay I mentioned to her that we'd found the house quite cold in the morning, her answer was that they don't have the heating on in the morning themselves, and "anyway haven't you got electric heaters?" On the final morning the heating did come on, but the radiators started to go cold around 10pm every night. The weather turned colder during our stay, so we took advantage one night of the open fire. Yes, coal and a pack of wood are provided in an outside bunker, but we could find no fireguard or the means to carry coal into the house, so we stuck with wood and watched the fire like hawks in case it spat onto the carpet. On the morning we left, we found a hod and a fireguard hidden in a cupboard under the stairs. Nothing mentioned in the guidelines! The pull-cords in the bathroom and shower room were very dirty, particularly the one in the shower room. Again, I have a photograph if you require it, also one showing how filthy the shower room floor was. There was a shortage of towel rails in both rooms, with NONE in the shower room, which meant the towel had to go on the (dirty) floor. The house is advertised with "Free WiFi". We generally avoid electronic fripperies on holiday but we did try the WiFi...it wasn't available anywhere in the house. On arrival, we were shocked when we checked the upstairs bedrooms. We don't think they've been decorated since the 60's and they were dark, dingy, small and uninviting. The constantly clicking Fire Alarm on the landing would have been unbearable if we'd opted to sleep upstairs anyway, so we opted for the double room downstairs which wasn't much better, but large enough.Apart from the comment about the heating, the owners were friendly enough, but they desperately need to supply a decent information folder and put some effort into upgrading the house. We were surprised there weren't more comments in the visitors book to reflect this. The Welsh Cakes on arrival could have been a nice touch, but they tasted stale and the butter was smeared on very haphazardly. Sorry to be picky but you did ask!"

"This is a beautiful little cottage in the small village of Lamphey just a couple miles outside the quaint town of Pembroke. For the uninformed Lamphey is a quiet village and an escape from the bustle of the local towns in the county of Pembrokshire - Haverfordwest, Milford Haven, Cardigan, and Tenby, are all within easy driving distances: and of course the gorgeous beaches Pembrokshire offers are easily reached; the nearest being 10mins drive away. The cottage was very clean and fully equipped with modern facilities and appliances. Everything was up-to-date and the wi-fi was superfast and worked faultlessly. The 2 bedrooms are lovely; the main having a very comfortable king size bed. All furniture and decor throughout the cottage is very comfortable and clean, and the reclining chair is a joy to chill in after a long day exploring. The kitchen and shower/wc areas was spotless! The hosts were very welcoming and courteous: should we have wanted for anything it was reassuring to know they were close-by to advise on the facilities, appliances, and the geography of in and around the county of Pembrokeshire. We found the cottage and the area to be the perfect getaway (2 adults and a Border Collie) for us. Very rarely do we write a review but, such was the lovely time we had from beginning to end, we feel it worthwhile to highly recommend this cottage as your base.We would not hesitate to return to this cottge - TOP STARS! - Fanstastic!.Thanks again hosts! K & S...& woof! :)"

"Great location next to the coastal path and Porthgain is a good base for much of that area. On the plus side, the cottage had a good, well-equipped kitchen with plenty of space. The appliances looked new and there was a good range of utensils, cutlery and crockery. Wifi was good from the living room. Shower was modern and good.A welcome plate of Welsh cakes and flowers were a nice touch. The cottage is in need of modernisation though - no heating in the old bathroom for example - and the living room was cramped. Wifi signal in the kitchen was poor so we all had to be in the small living room for tv and internet.Luckily the fine weather meant we didn't have to stay in much as we are used to more living space and the decor was dull.Rather than flowers, a little milk and a few teabags would have been welcome after a 5 hour drive and there was just one sheet of paper on the loo roll. There didn't appear to be any soap in the bathroom but it was in its packet in a cabinet - why not have it out ready? We'll avoid holiday lets that don't provide linen in future. The cottage needed a deep clean - dirt on top of plugs and sockets in kitchen, bits in cutlery drawer, walls throughout in need of a good wipe and hair in the shower plug hole. Otherwise it was clean. Overall, the location and weather made the holiday very good, but the cottage was not good value and too expensive for what it provided."

"Where to start with this lovely gem of a property and host Sheila.A warm Welsh welcome on arrival from Sheila who showed us around a beautiful self catering cottage on a working farm. The property was warm & so inviting with a lovely hamper of treats, milk in the fridge ready for the important cuppa, fresh flowers, plenty of towels, everything had been thought of by Sheila that you could possibly need for a self catering holiday. The charming cottage is also deceiving from the outside with very spacious, bright, well presented & airy rooms. Our dog loved the freedom of the enclosed garden, secure parking, tranquility but everything you need & lots of places of interest to visit, very accessible from the cottage.A true home from home with many personal touches, Philip also had a wealth of local knowledge to share and the couple went out of their way to make sure we were enjoying our break, but in no way intrusive. The wine and Sheila’s baking was also very well received by us.Wouldn’t hesitate to return to Carthouse on Poyerston Farm, thank you Sheila & Philip for a memorable, relaxing stay and we very much look forward to returning in the future. Karen & Martin xx"

"The people that own the holiday let are very lovely and very friendly. We received a warm welcome and even home made Welsh cakes. On first impression the let was lovely and seemed ok, however it quickly evolved that it was cleaned to the standard it should of been. The fridge had some items from the last guests and hadn't been cleaned, there were milk stains and grime. The freezer was full of the owners items and wasn't clean. The upper bathroom wasn't clean properly and we had to clean it to be able to use it. We would advise the owners to use a professional cleaner or cleaning company for the whole property. We feel if they take this feedback the way it is intended, that they would have a great holiday let. The other thing was the heating system didn't seem to be effective enough to warm a large property or the that it was restricted by the owner. Luckily we had the open fire and the owner was kind enough to leave plenty of wood for it. Also the wifi didn't work. We hope that the owners take on the feedback, it isn't criticism, house have left it since that a few simple improvements can be made. We wish them the best of luck with their venture."
