"S23253 is in a beautiful location on the banks of Loch Lomond and was undoubtedly once a lovely holiday let. Unfortunately it hasn't seen any care or attention other than the bare minimum for many years. It's marketed as a luxury let with somewhat misleading photos to this effect, unfortunately it isn't. The house is in dire need of redecoration with stained walls and ceilings, ripped carpets, dirty furnishings, old and uncomfortable beds, broken furniture, one bathroom with a suite from the 70s and a stained bath I wouldn't bath my dog in, and a pool table with one broken adult cue and two broken child sized cues. Many of the appliances are dangerous - there are two ovens, neither of which work properly and one of which has no seal around it so the outside of the oven heats up to the same temperature as the inside. At one point the housekeeper had to take our New Year's Eve dinner away and cook it for us because the ovens wouldn't heat to a high enough temperature to cook in. Not a great option for us or her, and especially disappointing as there are notes from a few years ago in the visitor book noting the problems with the ovens. There was a radiator heater in the sitting room with a very small sticker saying "dangerous do not use". The washing machine washes continually if you don't turn it forward by hand through the cycle (not great when the water isn't mains supplied and you're unaware of the problem), the tumble dryer heats up dangerously inside causing one of our party to burn themselves. There was also a troubling lack of communication between the booking website and the caretaker who was away on holiday and unaware of our imminent arrival until the day before we were due. As you had to arrange to pick the keys up from him this really could have been a problem if he was returning from holiday after our arrival date. Our deposit wasn't returned on the morning of departure as stated in the contract and I had to send numerous reminders until I received a cheque 8 days later. Because of these reasons I think that this cottage is very overpriced (even taking into consideration the fact that we paid a higher rate than normal due to being there over Hogmanay) and significant work needs to be undetaken to justify the price and to live up to its current marketing.S23253 is a potentially lovely holiday let in a gorgeous location that has been let down by a lack of investment and misleading marketing."

"Very well presented cottage in a lovely part of the world. It's close to a fairly quiet fast road but the noise from traffic isn't a problem. To be clear we are seasoned travelers and rent four or five properties in the UK each year and I guess are fairly picky. The ground floor layout and standard of finish is generally high and very comfortable for just two guests. The bedroom and bathroom are both lovely too and the bed was very comfortable and the property was immaculately clean throughout. The owner also left several items of produce which is always appreciated and when we spoke to him he was both helpful and kind. This cottage already scores well but could very easily be a perfect retreat with just a few minor adjustments and these are mentioned to hopefully assist the owners. As this is a dog friendly property, a cornerstone of any property we rent would be the garden. This cottage would really benefit from a secure (fenced garden) because the cottage is near to a road and any k9 toilet break means you too are out in whatever weather is about at the time. The garden could do with being checked too as there was a bit of broken glass around. Wifi is important to us and there was nothing in the property to tell us how to connect (ie the password), which meant a call to the owner, who fortunately was available and also fortunate that we had a mobile signal. However, it was only at this point that we were informed that the broadband was on a limited monthly download allowance and whilst it worked properly we were advised not to use it too much in case there'd be nothing left for those renters that followed. There were a few other small matters, which could so easily have been resolved by an in-house instruction manual, which would make life for the guests and the owners so much easier. All that said it's lovely but with a few tweaks could be memorable."

"We had a fantastic week in this beautiful place. The location is amazing - right on the loch shore with access to a great stretch of pebble beach (perfect for campfires), and nestled in a lovely garden. Total peace and quiet, and lots of walks right from the door, including the ascent of Ben Lomond if you get the weather for it.The house is much bigger than it looks on the photos and we had lots of space for 2 families of 4 - the kids loved the summer house, as well as disappearing off into the gardens to explore, build dens etc. The kitchen is huge and well enough equipped for baking as well as day to day catering. It is at least 10 minutes careful slow drive along the unmade road to get there, but for us that was part of the joy as you really are away from it all, and no passing traffic. No internet - be prepared if you are here with kids! Some of the furniture is very worn, but at least we didn't have to worry about the kids damaging anything - it feels more like staying in the home of an elderly eccentric relative than a holiday home, and for us that was a good thing. The big oven could do with servicing as at least one element is not working, but there is a 2nd oven so we coped. Everything else worked perfectly - plenty of hot water, washing machine, dishwasher, heating. The caretaker was extremely helpful - thank you!"

"we stayed here for a 2 week last 2 weeks of July, we used this a a base as we spentt a lot of time watching the Commonweath games in Glasgow, this was a great place for location as we had a 20 min drive into Dumbarton were we caught the train into Glasgow the first few days we explore this beautiful area and the annexe is perfectly situated to do that . The accommodation is a home from home, very clean, comfortable beds A great feature is that they have here is the full Sky package very rare for a Rental cottage. The location is perfect for train rides into the highlands it is a 5 min walk to Tarbet and Arrochar railway station were we caught the train to Fort william what a treat that was the views were breath taking. Also you can see the Sleeper train go past the cottage it goes south in the evening and passes the cottage at about 7am in the morning going north. . Also the wild life is great we saw the red squirrels regularly from our bedroom window along with a great veiw of the local birds that visited the garden.Next time we visit this part of Scotland we we be using this cottage again.Next time we visit this part of Scotland we we be using this cottage again. Can't fault it even when the nearest supermarket is a few miles away."

"Myself and husband stayed here for a week at the end of June. The annexe is perfectly situated to explore this beautiful area. The accommodation is a home from home, very clean, comfortable beds, with all the wee extra touches like toilet roll, hand wash, washing up liquid etc already there for you, together with a small amount of tea, coffee, sugar and milk to get you started, not forgetting a bottle of wine and shortbread too! A great TV with sky + an added bonus with both the World Cup and Wimbledon to watch! Situated between Tarbet and Arrochar (ten mins walk to Tabet and about twenty five to Arrochar with a fair few eating places dotted about. The train station is a few minutes walk up behind the property and there are regular buses to all the different areas. Lots of wildlife at the annexe with its own private patio at the side - seen red squirrels regularly. So peaceful and quiet even though it's situated near the main road and railway station with lots of lovely walks on the doorstep. One tip though - the nearest big supermarket is 17 miles away so stock up before you go. There are a couple of village shops in Arrochar for bits and pieces."
