What our customers say about their holidays

    • Stuart - Verified booking

      We had a lovely holiday.

This was a very last minute booking. I was somewhat surprised to find anywhere in North Devon so late in the day. I was actually surprised and a bit anxious when I found this lovely caravan. I couldn’t understand why it was the only holiday apartment still available. What could be wrong with it I thought. Actually there was nothing wrong with it. It turns out we were the first paying guests for the new owner (Abi) and this was a new listing. How lucky were we to find this absolute gem. There were three of us. Two adults and a 14 year old. The caravan had everything that you would need and more. It’s the first van I’ve been in with a dishwasher! It was in a peaceful setting at the top of the hill. Set aside with only one other van and a house as your immediate neighbours. When you walk down the hill you will find a small clubhouse which is worth using if only for the stunning sea views. There is a beach only five minutes walk away. We used the caravan as a base as we had quite an activity filled week but honestly you won’t go far wrong if you rent this van. Also on site is a small outdoor pool. Abi left us a lovely card and some fudge and some basic essentials on arrival which was a very nice thought. (Gutted we left behind the card) Abi is a lovely host and she can not do enough for you. The only issue I would raise is this is not a suitable site for people with no car snd mobility issues as the hills up and down are very steep. Otherwise book with confidence. Sykes were very good taking the booking. It was very easy and the chap I dealt with was very helpful. Good luck and have a wonderful holiday. Stuart, Millie & Mason Budd

Ochenta is in a quiet nook of the John Fowler site.

The site is hilly so beware! The grounds are well kept and there are good facilities and a Bar/Restaurant with stunning views. Ochenta was a perfect base for us to explore the South West Coast Path which was virtually on the doorstep. Combe Martin (the longest village England) has a wee Co-op and a great butcher/farm shop which stocked local produce. The caravan was spotless, had everything we needed and more. It was nice to have a good size fridge and freezer. At the end of the day, no dishes either as there’s a full size dishwasher. The bed was comfortable with a walk in wardrobe so plenty of room for clothes. The shower had good pressure which is always nice after a day hiking. The wrap around decking was a great area to sit out on an enjoy the sun and surrounding trees. Communication with the owners was 100%. During our stay the cafetière broke, we managed to buy a new one from Tesco (6 miles away in Ilfracombe) and were paid via BACS immediately. Overall we cannot fault this accommodation and would not hesitate to recommend.

Me and my mum spent a week at Spring Cottage and had a wonderful time.

The cottage is very cosy and the location is brilliant for exploring Lynton and Lynmouth. The owner Keith was lovely and even dropped a pint of milk round when we first arrived so we could have a cup of tea. My only compliant was that the kitchen equipment could do with some upgrading. We tended to go out for lunch and come back to the cottage in the evenings to cook dinner. There were plenty of glasses, plates and cutlery etc but there were no wooden cooking implements, the knives were very blunt with no sharpener and the pans and were a little scratched. Also worth noting that there’s no WIFI and the TV is very small and only gets channels 1 to 5. We didn’t mind too much as we were happy to relax, read and listen to music but WIFI or a DVD player etc would have been nice so we could have watched a film in the evening. Other than that we had a lovely time and would come back again.

      Great location.

Easy check in. Easy to find, ample parking. Cottage interior tired and enclosed garden still had gaps dog could get through. Lack of WiFi not an issue and had good phone signal. All the crockery and cutlery had a fusty smell and needed washing before using and if you put it away in between it needed washing again as you could taste it! This would prevent me staying here again. Smaller bedroom full of spiders that just kept coming! Appreciate it’s rural - we live rurally ourselves - but this was the only room with the issue. 11 year old wouldn’t go to bed without us checking and removing. Listing had stated there’s an electric meter but there wasn’t which was good news! We had some bad news and had to leave early so couldn’t do the full week. We had a nice stay otherwise.

Lovely caravan and well stocked with all the equipment you need even has a dishwasher!

Spotlessly clean and lovely welcome pack (tea, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits and clotted cream fudge - we don’t drink tea or coffee but the fudge was soon gone!) The location was good we went with two teenage boys and it was brilliant that they could just run down to the beach by themselves and the pool too although the one on site is a little small it would be ideal for small children but the camp reception gave the boys passes to use the bigger pool at their sister site just up the hill which was bigger - both pools had lifeguards. Area was beautiful very clean and some wonderful walks but equally it was just as nice and relaxing sitting on the terrace of the caravan listening to the birdsong and watching the birds inc a woodpecker family.
