    Holiday cottages in Ivybridge

Ivybridge has welcomed travellers and holidaymakers for centuries. It's first recorded as a crossing place to the River Erme back in 1280, and by the 1700s it was thriving as a coaching station between Plymouth and Exeter. Holiday cottages in Ivybridge are still sought after, and the town is a great alternative to traditional British seaside resorts.

The town of Ivybridge is surrounded by moorland and countryside and its heritage includes milling and cloth making. The original Ivy Bridge still stands and is often packed with artists painting the scenery. Visitors can also head to the town centre to check out the characterful pubs and local produce stores. Sustainable farming is popular here so cooks and food lovers will be spoilt for choice with delicious local fare.

Holiday cottages in Ivybridge offer another treat. The town is the starting point of the Two Moors Way long distance walking route all the way to Lynmouth. At Snaptrip we have thousands of properties for you to choose from, with lots of special offers and backed by our best price guarantee.

What our customers say about their holidays

The converted Coach House has been completed to a high standard.

The owners were very welcoming and everything was as you would like to find it when you first arrive. The accommodation has all the appliances in the kitchen you would nee, including a washing machine and fridge and freezer. The living room is a big space complete with a log burner and large shelf supplied with maps, interesting books and board games. Location wise, the accommodation is set on a farm with its own private drive, Ivybridge is within 2 miles and has all your local convenience shops and a petrol station. Turning right at the end of the private drive and walking up a fairly steep hill takes you to a cattle crossing and gate which gives you access to the Dartmoor. The coach house has a parking port which for a standard sized length car keeps it dry with its own contained pitched roof. We took our two dogs and they loved the location, please understand that there is livestock on and near the farm and on the moors so please be responsible with your dogs. So many lovely places to visit within an hours drive from Ivybridge and lots of history with both the farm/coach house and within Ivybridge. Totally recommended, and we had the company of an owl which hooted most nights. Bliss with only the stream noise running and bird song. Looking forward to visiting again.

The Clock House is located in a beautiful part of Devon on the edge of Dartmoor.

The instructions to find the house and the key were spot-on, even in the dark. The gardens are wonderful and very interesting with lots of unusual trees and shrubs to discover, even in November, and the distinct areas of the property make it a delight to explore. The cottage was very clean and the bed we requested had been made up. The owners had kindly left some cake and laid the table out for afternoon tea - a lovely touch. There was plenty of wood for the wood burner (which the dogs loved), the kitchen was well stocked with equipment and utensils and the water pressure in the showers was excellent. We enjoyed the 2 local DVDs (Devon & Dartmoor) and the jigsaw puzzles. There were multiple entry points to the cottage - the side stable door was great for getting the dogs in after a muddy walk. My only request would be a very small length of hose attached to the outside tap to hose off the dogs if necessary, although we tried to do this before we got back to the house. The owners were on hand for any issues. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cottage to anyone; there are plenty of great places to visit and eat - our highlights were The Ship Inn (Ugborough), The First & Last Bistro (Ermington) & Drogo Castle

We had a fantastic week at the The Clock House.

The property has been thoughtfully designed making it convenient and comfortable for all guests whilst maintaining the historic character of the building. The disabled facilities and level entrance were ideal for the elderly and frail member of our party. The kitchen is well equipped to handle holiday cooking and the utility room is very useful. There are plenty of games, books and DVDs for rainy days and the only thing we would have added is a Smart TV or DVD but this really did not detract from our enjoyment. The hosts have provided a vast collection of local maps and guide books making the planning of days out very easy and we were especially grateful for the information about local dog-friendly beaches. The gardens are beautiful and peaceful and it was fantastic to have the freedom to explore. Lorna is an exceptional hostess and we very much enjoyed learning of the history of the estate and getting a chance to see inside her house. Finally, we took our two classic cars with us as we were attending a show whilst in Devon and Lorna very kindly allowed us to photograph the cars outside the house. The Coach House is an ideal base from which to explore Dartmoor and the coast and we would not hesitate to book this property again.

      Faultless really!

We loved staying in this pretty cottage. Warm and welcoming, we knew from the moment we were greeted by a jug of fresh spring flowers and generous welcome treats that we would have fun. Everything we needed was there, and spotlessly clean. Stunning design, and incredibly warm, (loved the log burner with plentiful supply of logs) comfortable and cosy. A truly magical place. Heather and David were exceptionally welcoming and kind. To be on a working farm in such a setting on Dartmoor was extraordinary. The Visitor’s book speaks for itself of happy holidays and so many wanting to return…… just as we do! For us it was a chance to be with our small Devon grandchildren. They showed us their favourite beach Mothercombe, where sadly we just missed The Gruffalo who they were pretty sure lived in the woods by the path down to the beach! The highlight for them was definitely meeting the hens that had laid their teatime boiled egg. Then watching David working Jess the sheepdog, and meeting the magnificent gentle giant of a Hereford bull. They will always remember that day. Thanks to Heather and David for a really happy break. The Clock House was very comfortable and in a stunning location.

We enjoyed being able to explore the beautiful and tranquil gardens at Lukesland. My father has difficulty walking long distances and standing for any length of time. The groundfloor of the cottage is all on one level which made it easy for him to get from the bedroom with ensuite wet room to the living room and kitchen/dining area - the shower seat in the wet room was extremely useful for him. Lorna and John, who own Lukesland, were very welcoming and it was very helpful to be able to order a delicious ready meal for our arrival. The gardens are open to the public twice a week during the Spring and Autumn but the cottage is tucked away at one end of the estate and so we didn't feel any invasion of privacy. Ivybridge is well located for exploring the South Hams area and is on the edge of Dartmoor. It has a great farm shop (Countryman's choice) at Endsleigh garden centre with delicious cheeses, butchers and pasties and a good local pub (Trehill arms) as well as a Tesco extra, very close.
