What our customers say about their holidays

    • Vicki - Verified booking

Have booked before with Sykes and think we have been very spoilt with the accomodation we have previously stayed in.

Ffynnonlwyd Cottage itself was adequate, however, I do feel the bathroom was in need of some TLC. Realised on reflection that no photo was available of the shower and when we stayed here, we understand why. The shower itself was actually very good and powerful but the enclosure was very small and a little run down. I am of a large build and did struggle getting in and out, even my partner with a smaller frame still found this a little restricting in space. There is so much room in the bathroom to make something so much better than what is available. The bedding was very simple and did have a couple of stains on as did a couple of the towels. A few cobwebs which always makes me on edge when staying at an property however the kitchen was spotless. The hottub was the main reason for booking as we always like to relax in one after a good days walking. We couldnt fault this. Hot and well maintained , just a shame we couldnt use it after our very long journey on arrival. Someone already mentioned the steps to the garden and I agree they are extremely slippery as was the decking, some parts covered in algae. Although after coming back on our second day,we noticed the steps had been washed and the decking had been attempted to be cleaned also. The finer detail and little touches which could have made such a difference was lacking.A small welcome basket with tea coffee and sugar was provided but just my personal opinion,Condiments would have been a little touch that could have been available at the cottage. There is no salt or pepper. There was a small bin in the bathroom but no liner or any type of small bags that ladies need to have available . The plumbing and toilet is on a macerator so you could not flush certain things so these sanitary bags would have been extremely helpful and handy. We sadly never got to light the log fire as there was nothing there to light the fire and we wasnt met by the owner until he said hello on our last day as we were leaving. I guess we could have knocked at the house to ask for some fire lighters. All that being said, we had a lovely break away and enjoyed our stay in Wales. The cottage is ideally situated to visit some beautiful places.

We have just return from a week at The cottage and it was amazing.

Exactly as described. A lovely little cottage on a working farm. Our first impressions when entering the farm was how clean and well maintained it was. Haydn and Sian were so welcoming and showed us around their gorgeous gardens. The children were thrilled to be welcomed by little old Jim the dog every day and we even got to see baby cows in the small field behind the cottage. The accommodation was perfect. Clean, spacious with everything we needed and the added bonus of a washing machine to freshen up our beach towels and the children’s clothes. The hot tub was amazing and never lost its heat. You can tell it is well maintained. The patio area is full of plants and the view out of the kitchen window of Hayden and Sian’s flowers is beautiful. Even on the first day when it was a bit rainy it did not dampen our spirits as the cottage is so lovely. Haydn bought us logs for the log burner so we could have a cosy evening by the log burner after a dip in the undercover hot tub and take in the idealic peace of being in the countryside. We loved that (like the surrounding area) the garden was on multiple levels (which were easily accessible by our children and mother in law) as it allowed us to take in the great surrounding views. The local town St Clears has great shops to get fresh food including butchers and a bakers and several pubs, restaurants and takeaways. The cottage is in an easy drive of many local attractions for both kids and adults. During our time we visited beaches at Saundersfoot, Amroth, Pendine and Tenby. We took a boat ride from Tenby to an amazing island. When the weather was not as sunny we visited Camarthen indoor market and walked around several fantastic castles. We also had a great day at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales. On our final day we took the children to Heatherton World of Adventures. All these places we would highly recommend. We definitely hope to be back as the accommodation was perfect and we still have lots more places to explore. Thank-you Haydn and Sian …… Ps this kids are missing Jim the dog already

Well our holiday was the best we have had so far!

We want to say thank you to Haydn and his family for the accommodation and for making it special for us. We arrived to receive a bottle of cold wine, the place was lovely and warm especially needed with a newborn baby! Haydn was more than helpful and said if we needed anything at all just to ask. The place has been completely refurbished and is done to the most amazing standard! Everything is so modern and so relaxing. The cleanliness was also exceptional! The hot tub was our favourite thing in the cottage, it also has a lie down seat which was absolutely amazing and was boiling hot and clean. The accommodation is in the middle of All the activities of west wales and is about half hour away from Tesco and Morrison’s which is a very easy drive. Don’t be put off with it being on a working farm we could literally hear nothing just peace and quiet no matter what time of day it was! They are very dog friendly and accommodate well for your pet there is a lovely walk just down by the cottage! We honestly can’t thank Haydn enough for everything. Hopefully we will be back in the summer or we will definitely be with you in the winter :) Kirsty, Nick, Oscar, Ella and Lunar dog.

Anyone booking this cottage will not be disappointed.

The owners Les and Lesley live on site and greeted us on arrival. There is nothing that hasn't been thought about with regards to what you need in the cottage. There were some lovely sun sets seen from the bedroom balcony and the hot tub was an added bonus. The welcome pack was better than any we had at other holiday homes. Bread, butter, tea, coffee, biscuits eggs and jam. The position of the cottage was ideal lovely quiet area but near to plenty of beaches on the Cardigan coastline. Afon Mel honey farm was well worth a visit, try a sample of the mead. Cenarth Falls is a great place for photography and walking. We hoped to see the salmon coming up river but they didn't turn up on our day. Lastly Les and Lesley, lovely hosts we enjoyed some great chats with them and I'm sure any problems would have been sorted straight away. We didn't have any and I'm sure you won't either.

The cottage owners Les and Lesley have thought of everyone.

A really home from home holiday. From the welcoming site of tea and coffee milk sugar for our first holiday cuppa to the hairdryer with robes and soft towels and comfy beds in each bedroom. Oak cottage is very well equipped and was absolutely perfect a little gem infact. The peace and quiet wonderful, it felt like we'd actually had a break from our hectic lives. The many beaches are in easy reach from just a 15min drive away. Then home to the relaxing hot tub lazing watching the clouds go by and a nice bottle of wine provided in the welcome hamper by our wonderful hosts. Benji our border collie was very welcome too, spare dog bowls under the sink incase we had forgotten to pack his and he enjoyed a lovely walk down the country lanes. Les and Lesley are around with a wealth of local knowledge to hand. We would certainly recommend this cottage. Fantastic. Thankyou very much.
