    Honiton Holiday Cottages

A market town famous for its handcrafted lace and beautifully thrown pottery, Honiton is regarded as the antiques capital of the south west. It resides firmly in the East Devon AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), on the banks of the River Otter.

A visit to Honiton could include a trip to the award-winning Thelma Hubert Gallery to see the exhibits, a stroll around St Michael’s Parish Church, and a browse around the Allhallows Museum of Lace and Local Antiquities. Nearby, you’ll find a magnificent example of Iron Age ruins at both Hembury Fort and Blackbury Court; worth a visit in spring when they’re carpeted with bluebells. Honiton holiday cottages make great base camps for walkers too, with routes starting in the town leading out to Jurassic Coast of Seaton, Sidmouth, and Beer. While you’re out at the beach, don’t forget to pick up some local fish and chips.

Holiday cottages in Honiton can be booked through the UK’s leading accommodation suppliers on Snaptrip. Real-time availability ensures an instant confirmation of your break and searches can be filtered by property feature so you’ll be able to find something with all of the mod cons you could want.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Cindy - Verified booking

On the whole we were not disappointed with this property.

It's a lovely characterful barn conversion and the gardens were absolutely beautiful. The delicious welcome tray of scones, jam and clotted cream left by the owners was very much appreciated after a long journey. There were 6 adults and one 3-year-old in our party, and there was more than enough seating for everyone and plenty of cutlery and crockery, etc in the kitchen. The property overall, was well equipped, however, the ground floor bedroom had no dressing table and, even more mystifying, no mirror! In my opinion somewhat of a necessity - and something I expect from a 4-star rated property. I don't think I've ever come across this before - and I've stayed in a lot of holiday cottages! The huge wall which could have easily accommodated it was covered in a massive shelving unit filled with books and two redundant chairs across the other half of the room. Also, the main light switch to this room is outside in the corridor - so remember to switch it off before you get into bed! The property seemed to be quite clean - however, quite early on in our stay something was spilled on the main downstairs floor and as we mopped it up with kitchen towel, we were shocked at the amount of dirt that come up on the towels. I appreciate we are in the countryside and dirt will get walked in, but the floor seemed like it hadn't been mopped/cleaned properly in a while. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay (the general consensus with our party was that the beds were a little too firm - but that's personal preference). We had fun using the pizza oven (but were unable to find a pizza cutter – maybe we just didn't look hard enough). We also lit the fire pit and toasted marshmallows while watching the bats fly around in the evening and had great fun playing hide and seek with our three-year-old grandson in the beautiful quirky garden. There are lovely walks nearby and Sunday Lunch at the Otter Inn was delicious, as was lunch at the Heron Farm Shop, just along the road. The property was well situated for visiting Lyme Regis, Charmouth and surrounding area and was a relaxing place to come back to after a day exploring. One last thing - mind your head if you're tall (which all the men in our party were) there are some very low door frames, and we had several banged heads!!

Thank you for enabling a perfect family reunion at Hutchinghayes Farmhouse. Your house and gardens are magical. Everyone - from ages 3 to 80! - was delighted. The house was perfectly appointed: we wanted for nothing. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable, and the sheets immaculately ironed (please extend our thanks to the lovely Hazel). All was in great taste, including the fabulous collection of books that truly can suit every. The internet was also surprisingly fast and reliable. As a keen gardener, I was of course delighted to be able to stroll in your beautiful gardens and to admire the wisteria, roses, climbing hydrangeas that grace the buildings, as well as to walk about the ponds. My heart skipped a beat at the magical boathouse. The wider area is also stunning. Particular highlights were the Pig at Combe in Gittisham, Branscombe, the cliff walks on the Golden Cap, the drive to the Five Bells and, of course, Dartmoor National Park. We stopped at Stourhead along the way, which I would recommend to anyone coming from the East. Thank you again for your warm welcome, flexibility and responsiveness throughout. With a bit of luck, we will return. In the meantime, we will let people know what a wonderful place you have created. Best, Marie-Claude and Sherman

      Wow, where do I start?

We were a family of 8, the eldest 72 and the youngest 3 years. There is plenty of room inside and outside that you're not under each others toes. The Barn had everything we needed, the only thing missing, if you're taking toddlers, the bath is big, but there is no slip mat in the bath, so possibly take one with you, but that is the only thing I can think of that wasn't available, however, this had absolutely no impact on our break. We sat on a few evenings watching the bats emerge from the roof space above bedroom 4. They are amazing little creatures. We used the fire pit to toast marshmallows on a evening. We also used both the bbq and pizza oven. I like to run in the morning's and living in a very flat area, this made it slightly more difficult, being hilly, but well worth it with stunning views. The Otter Inn is very close by which we used and also Heron Farm. They have a lovely play area and the food in their cafe is so delicious. We all felt so relaxed and slept so well. The only downside is we didn't book long enough, we all wanted to stay on for another week.

We rented both the farm house and the barn at Hutchinghayes for a large family celebration. We could not have been happier. Both the properties were perfect in every detail and we all enjoyed the sun lounge in the main farm house as our party room. However, the most enjoyable aspect was the stunning garden. Although it was very chilly whilst we were there (early April), we were fortunate that it didn't rain so we spent so much time exploring the grounds, walking around the lakes, feeding the ducks and geese and the children were highly amused by the pot bellied pig. We had the most wonderful weekend and would not hesitate to recommend Hutchinghayes as the perfect place to catch up with family and friends and to enjoy the peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings. I would also add that, as a family group, we have rented many holiday properties but Hutchinghayes has slotted in to our number one slot. We will definitely be back. - Susanna Teall

From start to finish, our weekend at Heron House was nothing short of amazing! I booked it for a hen party, and it truly exceeded all expectations. The hosts were absolutely incredible—so welcoming and attentive, going above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect for us. The house itself is stunning—beautifully decorated, spacious, and equipped with everything we needed. The location is equally breathtaking, offering plenty of privacy while still feeling luxurious and special. We also opted for the private chef experience, which was an absolute highlight. The food was outstanding and made our weekend feel even more special. I genuinely cannot fault a single thing about Heron House or the hosts. If you’re looking for a place that delivers on every level, this is it. Thank you for making our weekend so perfect—we will be talking about it for years to come!
