What our customers say about their holidays

    • Donna - Verified booking

Met by owner Jane on arrival.

.. who gave us a tour around the property and told us they lived just at the back of the house if we needed anything. The house is beautiful, with quality furnishings, comfortable beds and a fabulous well equipped kitchen and a hot tub to the rear. There’s ample parking and loads of outdoor space. There was a lovely welcome basket with fresh eggs, Welsh cakes, cookies and a basket of fruit.... and milk in the fridge. We throughly enjoyed our week (23 Aug -30th Aug) and had fantastic sunny weather apart from 1 day. We went across to the Severn arms to the charity event they were hosting to watch the lumberjack show and the sheep shearing competition. It was great fun and we enjoyed a few drinks in the beer garden. There are lots of great walks in the area... look on google maps for Water break it’s neck, and the Shaky Bridge walk which starts at the lake in Llandrindod Wells. We drove to Devils bridge to see the waterfalls, it’s a very nice drive out and only took us around 45 mins. We did all our own cooking at the property, if you need provisions for your stay there’s a Tesco supermarket and an Aldi in town, about 5 miles away. We spent a lot of time playing outdoor games at the back of the property as a family and we felt safe with our dog just roaming around as the property was fully enclosed. One day we had no hot water, a quick text message to the owner and this was sorted in 5 minutes. We had a really enjoyable stay and recommend the New Peny to those wanting to stay in this area. Many thanks to Jane, Gwyn and family from the Browns.

Property was beautiful and it was welcoming too.

Owners were incredibly attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Jane greeted us and showed us through the property. Even gifted us some eggs from her own farm. We took our own test strips for the hot tub due to some of the previous comments, and we tested it but ours were wrong, Jane came round pretty much immediately and tested it herself, and abated our worries. We did have a breakage with the bed in the master en suite and it was rectified the day after the break. Fantastic garden, that was perfect for our dog. Big high hedges and the gates are at least 6 feet high and very secure. Grass kept short for the fur babies, so short that we even had our dogs agility course on it with no problems. Hot tub was spotlessly clean. You could tell it had been scrubbed within an inch of its life. All nice pots, pans and plates provided. Big dishwasher which is always a bonus for our family and any big family that wants to go. A nice rack of games provided too.. Chess, pack of cards, snakes and ladders. Tv only Freesat but decent. Netflix can be logged into. WiFi not great but meh you're on holiday. Nice quiet road, shop 10 minutes away with fuel too. Everything provided for you. Hair dryer , Iron, clothes rail. Would very much recommend for anyone looking for a break with the fur babies

      Cottage was lovely and clean.

There was a lovely welcome pack for the dogs as well as us humans, which was a very nice touch although the milk was out of date by a month, the biscuits were delicious though. The directions given weren't very good and we did get a bit lost as they told us to turn by the lodge, it is actually Rhos Holiday Home Park. Inside the cottage like I said previously was very clean, although a stain on the bedroom carpet. The downside was there is no view but we did know this when booking (it is in such a pretty area it was a shame not to see it whilst having a coffee outside). The cottage could do with an armchair in the sitting room as my elderly mother found the sofa too low and it could only really sit 2 people comfortably. The toilet could also be a bit higher and with a seat that fitted and didn't move every time you sat down. Shower was great. The single bedroom could do with a lamp and a TV, children like to watch TV when they go to bed or read in bed. There were plenty of leaflets (most places too far away though as one was in Essex) and information pack also useful with plenty of takeaway and nearby shop. Lovely cottage to use as a base for a long weekend, as we found a week a bit too long.

We had a lovely week and the cottage was lovely.

With young children I enjoyed the no clutter feel and fact everything was off the ground - easy to find lost toys. Despite having booked for 5, I was disappointed that only 4 sets of towels were left out - the hand towels were too small to use for the baby. However the real disappointment of the holiday was the kitchen. There were only 3 dinner plates, which for a booking of 4/ 5 was insufficient. The kitchen was home to 13 egg cups and 10 wine glasses, yet no corkscrew. The pans had seen better days and the oven trays felt/ were cheap ( I was disappointed there was nothing like a pyrex dish for a pasta bake, but appreciate this one may be down to personal cooking preference). The serving utensils were so cheap they almost folded in half holding a spoonful of veg. Additionally the knives were limited - only 2 small veg knives - nothing suitable for cutting bread. I don't think it would cost the earth to provide a bottle of washing up liquid either. ( As it happens we were in our camper van so had our own crockery we could use but most wouldn't). I would recommend but manage people's expectations.

      Wow! What a stunning bungalow!

Myself and my family have just returned from the New Peny after spending Christmas there. The bungalow was spotless, it was well equipped with absolutely everything you can think of! All the rooms were so beautifully finished, and the hot tub was a huge luxury and nicely placed under a veranda. The property is well secured for your fury friends, my 2 dogs loved a good run around! The property was very accessible for wheelchair users, making our stay for my dad so much more simpler. My children wanted to live there and didn't want to leave!! They loved it! The bungalow is in a picturesque village of Penybont with a very friendly pub/restaurant across the road at the Severn Arms, everything you need within 5-10 minutes drive. Jane the owner is incredibly accomodating and friendly, always on hand for anything you need. Would not hesitate to return and would highly recommend this beautiful bungalow.
