Surrounded by the rugged moorland of the Dark Peak and located at the foot of Snake Pass, Glossop has all the amenities any holidaymaker could need and is also a lovely base to explore the area’s walking country.

Old Glossop dates back to the 12th century and is filled with pretty stone cottages. There's a mediaeval market cross with Manor Park at its heart, a popular spot for outdoor play, picnics, alfresco drinks and local events. The town centre includes refurbished buildings that were previously used as mills and are now home to shops, restaurants and bars. There's a wide range of independent small businesses and local trades, too. The whole town has the welcoming atmosphere Yorkshire is famous for and is a magnet for keen shoppers looking for quirky and unusual goods.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Claire - Verified booking

We stayed here at the weekend for my sister's hen celebrations.

We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The property is absolutely beautiful. It's large, spacious and very clean. It feels homely and has everything you could need for your stay. The kitchen was fully equipped with plenty of plates, cups, cutlery etc. There's a large oven with hob, microwave, dishwasher. There's also a washer, dryer and iron in the utility room. The living spaces were comfortable. The bedrooms were all spacious with plenty of bedding and extra pillows if you needed them. The beds were so comfy and we all had great nights sleep! The hot tub was filled and warm when we arrived. The garden space is lovely with bifold doors leading from the back of the property and it gets the sun all day. I haven't got a bad word to say about our stay. The host had great communication, calling me to make sure we arrived and got the keys ok. They made me aware or everything I needed to know and they were on hand if we needed anything further during our stay. We even arrived to snacks and a bottle of fizz for the celebrations which was very kind. I would highly recommend this beautiful home for any gatherings with family and friends. Thank you for such an amazing stay and making our celebrations special.

      BEAUTIFUL HOME FROM HOME!

This property is a hidden gem!! Our group of ten had the best long weekend, the house is beautiful and contains everything you need to relax and catch up with friends and family! Manuzah our host was so attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. She went above and beyond and I can't thank her enough for helping to make my husbands 50'th birthday so special. When we arrived she had decorated with birthday banners and there was a bottle of fizz waiting! The kitchen is so well equipped. We loved chatting around the island whist our friends prepared a curry for us, there is ample crockery and all of the utensils are in great order. All of our guest mentioned how comfortable their beds were and how nice each room is decorated. The lounge areas are super comfortable with plenty of cushions, blankets and home from home comforts. The hot tub was lovely and clean, even though it was January we braved it and the water was perfect! We are already planning our return and can't recommend this property enough!! Thank you so much Manuzah - You are so good at your job and we are lucky we chose Carr House Farm for our little gathering - Keep up the fabulous work!!

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at 2 Carr Farm Close.

The house was very well equipped and there were toys and games for the children. The owners were very helpful and even phoned and emailed us ahead of arrival to check we we knew where we were going. They also gave helpful suggestions for activities in the area. The hot tub was enjoyed by everyone in our group. A couple of problems; the thermostat on the tumble dryer appeared to be broken as it kept cutting out after about 10 minutes - difficult as we had to take our own towels and this meant it wasn't easy to dry them. Also, there were no oven gloves in the kitchen and only one tea towel (we know the owners asked for everything to be washed in the dish washer, which we did) but a couple of tea towels at least would have been handy. Overall, an enjoyable experience and the house was well located in a quiet area but within easy walking distance of Glossop centre.

There are only good things to say about this property.

We stayed at the weekend for my partners 40th with our family and it was perfect. It had everything we needed. It was spotless and extremely clean and looked beautiful, even better in person. The beds and sofas were so comfy and there was plenty of room. My 1 year old loved the space to run around and was kept entertained with the huge tele in the lounge watching all her Disney favourites. The area was lovely and very quiet and was close to local shops and pubs which was really handy. We were able to have a lovely walk even though it was so cold. We've said we would definitely come back but maybe in summer when the weather is better so we can make more use of the summer house, bbq and the lovely garden. I would 100% recommend this property. Sally and David were very helpful too and were a text or phone call away if needed. Thanks for a great stay

This is a very comfortable and spacious house with a very large, fully open plan kitchen, dining area and sitting room downstairs.

The house is extremely well equipped, with a very high-spec kitchen, enormous tv, and loads of storage. The new and very substantial summer house in the garden was very useful for us as a place to play our musical instruments without bothering those in the open plan area, or, hopefully, the neighbours. The house is in a cul de sac in a modern housing estate, so if you're looking for rural or characterful, this isn't it; but the area is quiet and makes a handy base for trips into the Peak District. You can walk up a large moorland hill straight from the front door. The weather was getting colder but the house was warm, with lovely underfloor heating, and there's a very enjoyable large bath as well as excellent showers. The owner was helpful and friendly. Altogether, we had a very comfortable and pleasant week.
