What our customers say about their holidays

    • Andrew - Verified booking

We had the perfect stay at Holmer Farm.

Everything from the location, to the interior was on point. We felt instantly at ease when we arrived with details of how the cottage had been cleaned, leaving is in no doubt that every effort had been made to ensure our experience was not spoilt by the current climate. The Welcome pack was a lovely surprise and added to the care and effort made to ensure you have a lovely break. Luckily we had amazing weather and made use of the lovely outdoor space, our Springer was in her element being able to wonder the field next to the cottage! This ticked every box for us and exceeded our expectations without a doubt. We will be back, not only to the cottage but to the lovely area, we still have much to explore. Little tip from us the Live and let Live pub which is a short drive away is well worth a visit. Absolutely stunning little pub, we didn’t eat but what we saw looked delicious!

Visitors are well provided for with generous welcoming provisions, from necessities like milk, and in the cupboards, coffee and tea, with additionally treats like wine , crisps and biscuits.

The fabric and furnishings are of very good quality. However, the bedroom in the roof space is the major negative. The ( unnecessarily) large bed takes up the vast majority of the floor space in which head height would allow safe walking, the sloping rafters coming down to allow only very small walls, approximately 2'6" or 75 cms. with very low chests of drawers for clothing fitted almost against those walls. The sloping roof meant difficult access. And the lack of head height meant no proper wardrobe could be accommodated. Practicalities suffered in favour of appearances. A good example was trailing plants in a tiny bathroom when shelf space should have been the priority. Overall, a generously well equipped property but not very practical.

      Absolutely superlative.

Perfect if you really want to be away from it all. The roads are narrow, but largely without traffic, Pubs and Shops are a car drive away. Kington about 8 minutes away has fresh fish, veg and a delicatessen, All brilliant and The Swan Inn and The Boat good Pub Grub. Brilliant walks everywhere and really recommend Westonbury Water Garden. Ludlow and Ha-on-Wye well worth a visit. But the Mill itself is comfortable and extremely well appointed, first place we have ever been where we didn't have to buy a cork screw, it even had a toast rack! The hospitality extended by Grace and Dick was exemplary, But all this is crowned by the abundance of wildlife on the bank of the river right outside the door! You must go to belief it.

Excellent cottage in a great location.

The barn has been tastefully renovated and really comfortable with all the things you need for self catering. As well as the under counter fridge, there is a tall fridge/freezer in the utility room which gave plenty of food and drink storage for New Year celebrations!!! There are plenty of areas to explore within 30 minute drive, or further afield if you wish. Also lots of shops within a 15 minute drive in Leominster or Tunberry Wells. Pleasant communications with owner via text. We had a brief water outage after a burst mains and the owner was quick to make sure we were okay. The guest book is full of glowing reports and I can see why. Highly recommended!!!

If you want peace and quiet in beautiful countryside this is the place to come.

The cottage can be found down very narrow lanes which let's you know it is going to be peaceful with just countryside sounds around. The cottage itself was clean, tidy and had everything needed for a comfortable stay and more. We had never had such a lovely welcoming hamper of goodies to welcome us which was a very nice touch. The owners are right next door but don't intrude at all but are at the end of a phone if you have any questions. We have stayed in many cottages and this is at the top of the list for everything. If we ever go to Herefordshire we would definitely book Holmer Farm Cottage again. Dawn and Derek from Hampshire.
