    Carmarthenshire Holiday Cottages

The county of Carmarthenshire sits in the south west of Wales and is marked by its three largest towns, Carmarthen, Llanelli and Ammanford. Known affectionately as ‘The Garden of Wales’, it’s also home to the National Botanic Garden of Wales. Carmarthenshire is home to mountains, rolling countryside and coast; with the eastern edge of the Brecon Beacons bordering it, known as the Carmarthen Fans, with the Cambrian mountains to the north. The Millennium Coastal Path runs along the south of the county and is where spring really bursts into life.

We've got great Carmarthenshire holiday cottages available to book, including countryside retreats, sandy beach apartments and stunning open-plan balcony homes. Bring your family, friends and even the dog, with our dog-friendly accommodation.

What our customers say about their holidays

Katy and Leon are wonderful hosts: warm, friendly and so accommodating.

Nothing is a problem for them. Our cottage was a joy and as we were there for the Christmas week every room was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Well equipped and very comfortable. We were welcomed by Leon brandishing a plate of delicious pastries for us to try! Yummy! They even left a bottle of mulled wine and Christmas Bakewell tarts on the table. But the jewel in this idyllic Welsh Crown was the little "egg house" with a variety of eggs from their own chickens. The best eggs we have had in a long time. This is a brilliant location for families with dogs and/or children. There is a brilliant totally enclosed field for dogs of all sizes, accessed down a private and safe lane. Ty Cwtch has its own totally enclosed large garden which was much enjoyed by our two tiny doggies so you can let them out and leave them to play. There are rescue horses, sheep, gorgeous nosey goats who will come to the fence for a head scratch, and those chickens who gift us those wonderful eggs. The view across the valleys is as stunning as is the peace and quiet. We are planning a return in the summer. Highly recommended.

We loved or stay at Shambles which was the perfect holiday cottage for us and our dog. The cottage was comfortable clean, well equipped and catered for all our holiday needs. Surprisingly for mid October we enjoyed the late afternoon sun on the patio and the well kept secure garden was an added bonus. The location was perfect for our week exploring the Gower. The fact that there was an excellent community shop, post office and cafe directly opposite solved any shopping problems. The volunteers and locals were friendly, helpful and there was a never ending supply of lhomemade produce. The sweet potato pasties and spicy carrot cake are highly recommended. Cwm Ivy, another local cafe with homemade cakes, was a good pit stop at the beginning and end of some of our walks. The Britannia Inn was dog friendly with reasonable pub food and a good atmosphere, although very busy on a nice autumn weekend. We will return to the Gower next year and hope that we can use Shambles as our base again.

Good afternoon, although Darren was helpful on check in, the property maintenance and cleanliness was very disappointing.

The wine fridge was broken, blinds in the dining area were broken, a seat in the dining room had no bolts and not safe, the salad compartment in the fridge was broken. The cleanliness of the property was not very good, toilets in 2 bathrooms were not clean, the oven and fridge were dirty, there was mould on the floor of the shower in the main bathroom en suite, fingerprints on all the doors in the main living and dining area. The hoover was completely blocked and not cleaned out, the tumble dryer is faulty. The hot tub couldn't be used for 24 hours which was one of the main reasons we booked this property so missed a day of use, not enough info regarding the towel situation which were very minimal. The property itself was great, but for the amount of money we spent it was very disappointing to experience these problems and certainly no excuse for the cleanliness. Wasn't up to the standards we expect from similar properties we have rented in the same price bracket.

The location of the house and garden are excellent with superb views.

The house itself is brilliant for the six of us, but not sure it would cater for 12 people comfortably with number of beds and lounge chairs. TV and car charging facilities excellent. Bedroom and bathrooms were excellent, showers were brilliant. The reason I have dropped a couple of the scores is some of the property/facilities were in need of updating given the price of the property. Some doors didn't open, hot tub small even for six, games room needs a refresh, benefit from a coffee machine, wine fridge needs fixing, outside table fire pit needs fixing and bin situation not ideal. For a pet friendly property it wouldn't take much to secure the garden. I have to call out Darren the agent who risked life to change the battery in the smoke alarm that started bleeping 1am the first night we were there, it was fixed by the time we got back on Monday so a great response.

We loved The Shambles, the owners have thought of everything to make your stay wonderful. The cottage and enclosed garden area were just perfect for us and our dog. It had all the mod cons, was very spacious and warm in December when we stayed. You can hike in various directions straight from the cottage and reach a number of glorious beaches. And behind is a lovely hill to climb and admire the views. so we had many car free days where we did 10-15 miles walks taking in 3 beaches. There is a shop across the road that stocks vegan food and there is vegan food available at the pub. This really is a spectacular holiday destination. The local roads are quiet, it is a really peaceful spot. Saw lots of birds in the very pretty garden. We have recommended to friends and we intend to come again.
