It is a lovely lodge, it is well equipped with all you need, plus a complimentary bottle of Prosecco and coffee pods for the coffee machine and tea, milk and sugar to have a welcome brew.

The fridge and freezer is large to stock up with beer, food and ice, and a dishwasher so no need to wash up! The bedroom and ensuite is large with plenty of storage and a TV in the bedroom. There is plenty of space in the kitchen and living area. The hot tub is private however there are chairs and table on the balcony so you can dry off and enjoy the view and ducks. Overall the lodge is clean and kitchen utensils spotless, there were a couple of cobwebs on the bedroom window, and the tap in the second toilet is a leak as there is calcium/lime scale around it. The site is close to the main road/train track, although you drive around to get to get to it, there isn’t any noise. The Croft is lovely for food, Wednesday is steak night and Thursday date night, after reading the last comment we booked but it was never full on the 3 nights we went, Saturday was busiest night, and Sunday lunch you have to book. The site is less than 3 miles from, Morrisons,Tesco’s and Lidl and Battlefield farm shop a mile down the road, the falconry there, is worth a visit as well. Shrewsbury is a great town to visit, and the park-and-ride is really good £2 per person on the bus return. We also visited Ludlow and Powis castle and garden which are both around 50 minutes drive. Overall great stay and would love to return

It was a let down to realise there was no Wifi in the cabin.

I bought breakfast to cook in the cabin but I’d forgot butter for toast I’d searched the kitchen to find there not even the miniature butters available. I’d asked the gentleman who looks after the park if there was butter I could use on site he said no I’d have to travel to the spar shop which was inconvenient. The bed was comfortable however did not smell fresh. The bathroom sink had few hairs on so it was evident cleaners hadn’t deep cleaned the bathroom properly prior to arrival and bathrobes were not available. We could not use the restaurant on site for breakfast lunch or dinner because we was told all fully booked. You would think the site would cater for every person on site but clearly this wasn’t the case therefore we had to eat out on both nights. Inconvenient. £3 fee per person to swim in the indoor heating swimming pool - ridiculous. This site was not worth the price at all - let down.

We stayed a week here and had a lovely time.

The Shepherds Hut is so comfortable and cosy, with everything you could want. A well supplied kitchen with full sized appliances, a fantastic shower, comfy sofa and bed, plenty of space for 2 people without feeling crowded at all. There was a lovely starter pack of food and fizz from Wendy, who made us feel very welcome but also let us get on with our break. It was lovely to relax in our own private space in the evening. We chose Mucklewick Hollow because we wanted to explore the Marches on both sides of the border and it us a fantastic location for that, really well placed for all the Marcher towns and even a day on the coast! It would be a very lucky and happy Shepherd who would live in a hut like this, the best we have stayed in, and we really recommend this gem!

We have not been paid for this review.

We had a fantastic stay. The accommodation was 5 star. The staff were very friendly and remembered our names. The Croft Restraurant was excellent all the staff were lovely and made you feel very welcome. Would advise a trip to the Iron Bridge/Gorge- Bliss Victorian Village. You have to book a time slot best time would be 12pm. It was very well mapped out for social distancing etc. Our time at the cabin was lovely with the ducks in the pond in front of the cabin. We had them come up to us in the mornings. It was very peaceful. Would recommend this 100%. The hot-tub was a lovely bonus would advise take your own towels for this. Was a great relaxing week away. Thank you. Regards Mick & Claire we will book again
