Guests say

Chestnut Lodge receives high praise for its peaceful setting, spacious and well-equipped accommodation, and friendly, helpful staff. Guests particularly enjoy the hot tub and the scenic views, especially of the lake. Cleanliness is generally very good, though a few minor issues were noted. Some guests mention the beds being too firm and suggest improvements such as more hooks and upgraded hot tub facilities. Thoughtful touches like welcome gifts are appreciated but not always provided. Overall, the lodge offers a relaxing and enjoyable stay, with most guests keen to return.

Most guests found the lodge spotless and well-maintained, with only occasional minor issues such as cobwebs or fridge odours mentioned. The majority of reviews highlight a high standard of cleanliness.

The tranquil, scenic setting is widely appreciated, especially lodges with lake views. Some guests found the location a bit remote or were disappointed with views of hedges or fences, but overall the peacefulness and proximity to Shrewsbury are positives.

The lodge is described as spacious and cosy, but several guests found the beds uncomfortably firm, impacting sleep quality. Heating and general comfort are otherwise well regarded.

Facilities such as the hot tub, kitchen, and heating are generally praised, though some mention the hot tub is dated or not powerful, and suggest more hooks for towels. The site is well maintained, but a few maintenance issues (e.g., dishwasher, toilet seat) were noted.

Guests appreciated welcome touches like tea, coffee, biscuits, and occasional gifts such as prosecco, especially for special occasions. However, these are not guaranteed for every stay. Staff are frequently described as friendly and helpful.

We enjoyed 3 nights at Beaconsfield for the first time in August. We found the site very well kept and had a warm welcome on arrival. We found our lodge (Chestnut Lodge 1) to be spotless clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We had an evening meal in the Croft which was excellent and they even brought me ice cream and a sparkler for a birthday treat at the end of the meal. We were shown how the hot tub works and given a book regarding rules and information. The site is very quiet and geared for adults. We had a lovely view over the lake. Everyone was very friendly on our walks around the park. The double wardrobe and 2 toilets were a great bonus! Our only negatives were that you couldn’t go in the hot tub after dusk (I find that the best time for a dip). We were only left a couple of tea bags, had to buy more. No dressing gowns or slippers provided for hot tub. Nowhere to hang your towels when in the hot tub. Simple hooks would be great outside.Nowhere to hang towels in bathroom when wet as towel rail not big enough. Again, simple hooks in the bathroom would be great. We would recommend a stay at Beaconsfield and we will return when we are able!
