What our customers say about their holidays

Lovely place to stay with a private decking/patio area with hot tub, comfortable chairs and lounger.

Perfect for good weather. Some concerns about fire safety .. there is an internal wood burner, a big fire pit on the wood decking (and what looked like another fire pit in the middle of a coffee table on the decking). The hot-tub is also wood-fire heated. With careful use these should be fine but it only takes a moment for a kid to become over-excited or a spark to land in the wrong place. I'd have liked to have seen a fire extinguisher in the kitchen at least. The lodge is really great inside - beautifully equipped. However, could we please have the instruction manuals for the dishwasher and air fryer? And could we have some oven gloves please? A visitor info pack would mean it'd not be necessary to explain the hot-tub use/buttons and could also include the Wifi password. The property is within close proximity of a rail track (Stamford to Oakham) - some may like to be made aware of that as trains (quite noisy) seem to be every 20 mins or so and run quite late into the night. The general description may need a bit of an update - the bath isn't P-shaped (so what?) and the 'communal freshwater dipping area' isn't actually a thing. Would recommend to those wanting a private and relaxing break as there's plenty to explore and do around Oakham and the Rutland Water area.

Levie was a fantastic host who was very friendly and welcoming.

The added touches on arrival such as flowers, coffee and cake were so lovely and appreciated. The Garden House was very clean, warm, quiet and well decorated. A brand new ninja air fryer was waiting for us which took some getting used to as not having operated one before. We appreciated that our family dog could accompany us on this stay as accommodation can be so hard to come by. Levie does have her own dog which uses the garden (although fenced) but it did mean we had to keep an eye on our pet whilst outside as he isn’t good with other dogs. The location has some stunning views and surroundings but the remote location did mean we had next to no phone signal which was problematic. The wifi was also very limited and even though Levie did try to fix this for us, it still didn’t give us the access we needed throughout our stay. This holiday home is perfect for two people but as a family of five, was a little cramped at times but nonetheless still comfortable and pleasant. Thank you Levie for a wonderful two weeks.

Having just spent 4 nights at the Garden House…when the time came to leave we were sorry we couldn’t stay a lot longer!

Set in a beautiful garden, it is the perfect place to both hang around, chill and relax in or to visit the lovely places within easy reach (ie. Cotswolds, Stratford Upon Avon)…in fact we always were in a dilemma when having to choose between both options! The accommodation is modern, well equipped with a very high standard of cleanliness. One side of the Garden House has a seating area and overlooks the main garden towards the owners house and on the opposite side is another garden area with seating and parasols, which is totally private and a real sun trap. As mentioned in another review, photographs don’t really do it all justice. The owner, Levie is really lovely and couldn’t have done more to make our stay so enjoyable, right from our welcome with Cappuccino and cake through to the same for our departure. She was always on hand if needed without being at all obtrusive. We will certainly be going back in the non-too distant future!

Our weekend break was a last minute decision on the Friday afternoon.

Sykes Cottages were extremely helpful in securing our booking as they contacted Levie the property owner to ask if the booking was able to be completed as it was late in the day. Levie I have to say must be the warmest and most sincere host I have ever met and nothing was too much trouble for her. She met us outside the property late on the Friday evening and ensured we were settled in and happy with everything. The Garden House was as shown on the Sykes website, very nice and clean and nicely arranged. Set in the quiet village of Upper Quinton in an idyllic location. Everything we wanted for our stay was in The Garden House and with Levie's care and attention what more would you need. We visited Cheltenham and Startford-upon-Avon on the Saturday as The Garden House is located in an ideal location with places to visit not too far away. Thanks again Levie and we will return.

We had a great stay at The Garden House for four nights.

The place was clean, well equipped and decorated with a Christmas feel. We were welcomed with a Christmas Cake and offered tea on our arrival. Our son loved his room with dinosaur bed covers and all the stuffed toys. The property is in a quiet location and ideally located to explore both Stratford and Cotswolds. The hosts Levie and Colin were fantastic and went out of their way to make sure that our stay is comfortable. They were very responsive to our queries both before and during the stay. They agreed to postpone our booking (since our son fell ill) by four days which made the visit possible. Levie gave us a walkthrough of the property and also piloted us for a lovely walk.
