What our customers say about their holidays

    • The G-Family - Verified booking

Fern House is a recently renovated Grade II listed cottage, which has been beautifully updated with tasteful fixtures and fittings and a number of luxury conveniences. The spacious kitchen is very well equipped, the hob and microwave easy to use without needing a training course(!) and we really appreciated the plentiful food storage boxes for several picnics we enjoyed. There are more books than can be read in a year’s stay, plus games and plenty to keep you occupied in inclement weather. The garden, which comprises everything seen in the photos, has similarly been brought back to life, with older trees and shrubs, interspersed with judicious new planting. Walking out from the spacious and light larger bedroom, in the early morning sun, onto the fern-filled patio, is a joy! Be prepared to park in different spots on the main street, as it is a small village. We recommend: Evershot Bakery (place your orders for fresh croissants in advance!); ‘Thomas Hardy’s’ Acorn Inn over the road (which won 2 more awards as we left); The Electric Palace in Bridport (variety of entertainment); Rise in West Bay (looking out over the Jurassic Coast); Lulworth Castle (a real surprise!) and for the best Sunday lunch, including masses of veg and wines by the carafe, Winyard’s Gap at Chedington. We happily extended our stay beyond our one week booking - need we say more?

This was our second stay at Acres Meadow.

2 adults plus a lively dog for a weekend stay. We loved it the first time and was even better this time - the huts both having had a makeover and they look amazing. Very clean, comfortable and we were sad to leave. Only minor suggestions for improvement and that would be door mats in both huts just in case of rain/mud, a couple more hooks for coats/towels, and also a small shelf would be handy above the double bed. We will be back again next year.

A dogs and 10 year old boys paradise!

First dog holiday as a family and it ticked all the boxes. Completely lucked out on the weather. Tranquil location, peace and amazing surround meant for happy afternoons playing in the meadow and paddling in the stream ❤️ Luxury camping and comfortable beds, property could do with a few more hooks to hang clothes and a washing up bowl. Really was a wonderful escape and so private, be spoilt if more huts on site.

What a beautiful place to stay!

Views of rolling fields whilst sat on the veranda of the shepherd's hut, or sitting by the firepit eating bbq'd food from the supplied bbq, followed by an out door bath looking up at the stars! And that's just the outside! The inside of the shepherd's hut is very inviting and homely, and perfect for that quiet weekend away with your partner. I highly recommend staying here, and will definitely be back.
