What our customers say about their holidays

    • Dean - Verified booking

We had a fantastic stay at Meadow Lodge.

The lodge is really spacious and has everything tht is needed for a self catering holiday. It was cleaned to a good standard upon our arrival so we quickly unpacked and relaxed on the two large confortable sofas. The Roadford Lake site is beautiful, all lodges looked well maintained and the site in general was spotless. You do need a car to get about as it is in the middle of nowhere but that is why we booked it. It's only a 10 minute drive to Launceston which has both a Tesco and Lidl so everything you need to stock up. We made daily use of the Hot tub which our daughter loved. Other reviews have stated issues with the WiFi but we didn't encounter any such issues. We had a number of devices with us to use the WiFi and never had any connection issues. As a possible area of improvement I would suggest some anti bacterial spray or wipes to clean down the kitchen surfaces after preparing a meal. Also a squeegee to clean the showers screens after use would be useful but this is more of a habit from home. None of this distracted from a great holiday and we certainly plan on returning in the future. Many thanks.

Thank you for a lovely Autumn break at The Cottage.

Teresa and Chris, you have been extremely welcoming. The cottage itself lays in beautiful surroundings. There's plenty of space to explore. This was essential for our labradors and two children, aged 8 and 11. All the essentials were found in the cottage and the owners even offered to loan us some jigsaws for those rainy days. The swimming pool was a real bonus with our children learning to swim. Upon arrival we found tea, coffee and milk available, much needed after a long journey! (Plus a refreshing bottle of bubbly- perfect!) The family gave us space throughout our break to settle but were available to offer information about the surroundings. They said a friendly hello to our dogs and made them feel welcome too! My family highly recommend Fingle bridge for a place to explore with dogs and children, which is a little bit of a drive, but worth it! A shorter drive away is Bude, with dog friendly beaches to explore and enjoy. We visited on a rainy October day but it was still worth a visit! Thank you so much, we will be recommending you to anyone who wishes to stay in Devon/ Cornwall.

Absolutely brilliant. <br />Marina Lodge is a beautiful house with the most fabulous views - we just loved it. I stayed with my elderly mother and two teenage sons, and all of us were so sorry to leave. A very convenient place to stay - the parking permit was brilliant - you can easily not use your car at all during your holiday, as ferries, boats trains and buses are right on the doorstep. The house is very accommodating with everything on hand, comfortable and convenient. It was very helpfull to be able to have the main bedroom bed converted to twin beds for my Mother and I. My sons loved their double rooms too. ( Sadly the wifi did not work, but I believe this is temporary) The only problem was the window would not open in the smallest bedroom - but it was not hot when we stayed, so this did not pose too great a difficulty for us. Blue River Cottages were excellent too - very efficient throughout the booking process and extremely welcoming when we visited them in their Dartmouth offices.

Overall a good place to stay near Dartmouth, ideal for the ferry and links to the wider area. Two great pubs, Marina and steam train nearby. Place was clean, 3 Decent size rooms and well equipped. Letting agents very good. Few negatives: Balconies needed a good varnish, new furniture and balcony glass cleaned, good feature for amazing views but didn't feel i could use it. Shame really. Parking is very limited, but marina car park £10 for 24 hours and a 5 minute walk away. 2 keys would of been useful. Be careful with the lower Balcony, goes onto a flat roof with a 40 foot drop off. There are gaps in the balcony sides and below the glass for a small dog to escape, our chihuahua ended up stuck in the guttering and needed rescuing, just be cautious with small dogs and children. Enjoyed my two weeks here that's the main thing.

Marina Lodge has everything you need for a wonderful break away, we have been staying here for over 20 years and this visit didn't disappoint. We loved the refresh the owners have done with everything being recently decorated. The views from both balconies are just brilliant - we were even lucky enough to watch a firework display from the Naval College across the water! The house is well equipped with all you need to self cater. The village itself has 2 pubs, café, post office and shop there are also some great walks. Access across the water is easy with 2 ferry options, we used the lower car ferry where you can purchase a travel card and top up as needed. We had a couple of great meals at The Steam Packet which is just along from the house. Can't wait to return!
