What our customers say about their holidays

    • Helen - Verified booking

We have just returned home from Orchard Lodge as a group of 6 including 2 children and 2 young dogs.

The below sums up our experience: Spacious lodge, Nice welcome binder with information on the lodge and local area, Nice amount of parking available on shared drive with us having two cars and the other accommodation having 2 with still plenty of room. Very well equipped with good kitchen supplies and family activities. TV with a Netflix account and on demand however no live tv, Brilliant set up for dogs with fully enclosed garden however an apple tree on left hand side of the lodge had a lot of fallen apples. With young dogs this wasn’t ideal, however we used a spare piece of fencing to block the gap near the hot tub which meant the dogs were not able to get to the apples (as poisonous to dogs). As a suggestion a permanent fence or gate to avoid this would be helpful. The living room area was carpeted and was a bit grubby, having wipe clean flooring in this area would be more hygienic. Bbq and outdoor furniture/decking wasn’t very clean and covered in bird poo. Dog poo in garden when we arrived. Large hole dug in garden. Wi-Fi is really temperamental and doesn’t reach well to back bedroom. I think this could be easily resolved with a Wi-Fi extender. However it also stopped working completely twice during our stay and can only be reset in the other holiday let. The hot tub is a massive bonus for the lodge. It was set to 39 when we arrived and keeps its heat extremely well. The lights are a nice touch and add to the atmosphere in the evening. We did have a few issues with the hot tub at one point but messaged the number provided and they quickly sent someone out to sort it. Overall we had a lovely time. The small things mentioned didn’t affect the holiday just some suggestions for future. We would recommend the lodge to anyone looking for a reasonably priced dog friendly lodge.

Excellent location and tastefully presented lodge, close to the adjoining Warren site where all the amenities are.

Well equipped kitchen. Outside deck a lovely space. Didn’t use the barbecue but one was provided. Hot tub was also very good. Negatives: TV was a big issue for us as there was no terrestrial TV in the lounge and that was when we could connect with the site Wi-Fi, which was off more than it was on. We spent far too much time trying to sort this and on calls to Sykes who didn’t have the answers to resolve the issues, although they were helpful and kept us informed, to no avail though. Radio provided but that depended on Wi-Fi too it seemed as that kept cutting out. No instructions for any equipment, particularly the TV/Wi-Fi, hot tub, washer/dryer. This would have helped greatly. We noticed the shed behind the lodge was unlocked and we were unable to lock it and worried about the safety of the contents. No one at the site office to ask during our stay. Cleanliness was poor in the lounge and bedrooms, specifically the sofas which we found to have crushed biscuits under the cushions. None of the furniture had been moved to clean behind or under, In the bedrooms there were biscuits behind the bedside cabinets and thick dust on furniture and skirtings. Post covid particularly I expected a clean lodge would be essential. Bathrooms, towels, bed linen all very clean. En-suite toilet was cracked with a loose lid. The style and location of this lodge are its selling points and I would recommend it. We would book again provided the negatives noted were rectified.

Having read a few negative reviews we were a little unsure of what we would find.

On arrival, pleasantly surprised at how spacious the lodge was. Sleeps 4 comfortably. We had 3 generations and 2 family dogs with us all with enough room. 2 2 seater sofas were comfortable. Decor is a little tired and a refresh would be a nice touch but property is clean. Decking area is completely covered which was a real bonus for us as the weather was unsettled but room to dry dogs and wet clothes outside. There is a launderette a few minutes walk away if you needed to dry clothes quickly. Our only negative is of the site itself. Dogs are not allowed in the outside covered area or bar area. We haven't encountered that at any of the previous sites we have stayed on. Probably wouldn't be an issue if the weather was dry as there's seating away from restaurant. Dogs must be on leads at all times and other than a very small enclosed area you aren't supposed to play with your dogs off lead, no fetch etc regardless of how well behaved you and your dogs are. Beach is very nearby so off lead time available there. Don't know if these are site specific rules or a Haven site norm but definitely food for thought for us when booking our next adventure.

The Cosy Cabin is an absolute Gem!

The pictures are beautiful yes, but to be there and witness it first hand they just don't do it justice! It's been an absolute sanctuary to come home to after our crazy adventures of days out Gorge walking, Kayaking, Zip lining beach days and the beautiful Caernarfon Castle and nearby beach towns and gorgeous pub lunches. The views from the Cabin inside and out are absolutely breathtaking. The gorgeous lush woodland in front, the mountains either side. The Sea in the distance. Plus our neighbours for the week the cows in our' field were a joy to watch. They even let us feed them some grass! They were excellent entertainment for our young son who loved to also feed and pass them the hard to reach wild flowers growing just out of reach of the ones they had already devoured. We have never stayed anywhere with such beauty all around us! We are already re gigging next years plans to get an extra trip back here. The owners should be extremely proud of this place and what they have done with it! I will be recommending to all our friends and family ✨️❤️

We are familiar with the lodge as we stayed at The Orchard for several years prior to it being sold .

The accommodation afforded by the lodge was ideal for two adults and our big. Anymore and I think it would have felt crowded . Just couple of negatives there is no cupboard available to put food in eg tins of tomatoes soup cereal boxes as all cupboards filled with cooking utensils . Some of the towels had seen better days never didn’t use had what doorsteps to be hair dye staining. On stripping the bed the duvet was stained and had seen better days. We replaced the batteries in the tv remote . Would be an idea to have some in a drawer for such an event. Location of the fuse box needs to be made to future residents as we had a trip in the electric the first morning and struggled to find it . I had to phone Annette the management lady . Apart from niggles we had a good week but think the fencing around the lodge needs replacing as it’s rotting in parts . The gate drive has a panel of roof missing leaving a hole hence making garden not dog proof. A stray dog appeared on the lawn which was shooed off but managed to leave a present in the drive !!!!
