"We hired Stenson Hill Farm for our annual large group holiday and were impressed. We are 5 families with 9 adults and 8 children and 1 dog.The bedrooms and bathrooms were adequate in number. The bedrooms are large and comfortable. The water pressure of the showers could be improved. The kitchen is large with two tables and chairs, there is an additional large dining table in the conservatory, which was great to seat all. The sitting room is huge with comfortable sofas and a very large fireplace. The games room was a hit with children and adults. The outside space is brilliant, a well kept lawn areas where we could play rounders and the dog had he freedom to run around safely as it is not near any main roads of other farms. We drove a short distance to Markeaton park which is situated in nice surroundings, which has a boating lake and high wire activity that the children enjoyed. We also enjoyed brunch at a lovely pub on the canal called 'the malt shovel'The manager is highly attentive and professional. I would recommend this venue."

"We had a lovely New year break at Willow Barn but for a four star rated property we found some of the facilities quite shabby and well used i.e. the majority of shower cubicles had black mould around the shower tray and tiles, the cooker hood in the kitchen had a bulb out and the bulb cover was all burnt away and some of the equipment in the games room had seen better days. As the accomodation catered for 14 people and we took all our own food fridge space was very limited. A second fridge in the kitchen or utility room would have been very useful. Whilst our stay there was not spoilt by these issues we feel they could be easily rectified at minimum expense. Overall the property had plenty of space for all of us and we enjoyed our family break."

"Great wow factor when you walk in, the cottage is beautiful, but too many things not working as they should. We had it for a weekend and despite an engineer coming to look at it, the sauna never worked. The hot tub was a luke warm tub (despite the engineer looking at it), there were open/unfinished electric sockets, a broken toilet seat, missing top of the cistern on another toilet. I could go on...On a positive note, it looks great, it has a lovely big kitchen/diner which is very well equipped, the grounds are beautiful and overlook fields, and its not far from some lovely locations. We didn't let all the faults stop us enjoying our weekend because we always make the best of things but, for the amount it cost, it wasn't worth the money."

"We had a really successful family party (16 of us celebrating my Mum's 90th birthday). The size and layout of the house was perfect. Very spacious living rooms and ample beds to choose from. The kitchen was very well equipped and there was plenty of fridge space for our collective food. The covered barbecue area was good, even if it had rained we would have been OK with this. The games room was a great hit with everyone, a superb facility. In general the house could do with some updating (one of the 3 showers was rather pathetic) but overall nothing really detracted from us having an excellent get together. I would definitely recommend this house for other groups."

"Deposit taken in cash no receipt and was then withheld and was more than originally stated as was the electric and gas charge.Window broke in the wind as latches were loose and some window frames were cracked and obviously weak but owner refused windows were in a poor state of repair. Window actually fell from first floor.Owner quite rude and aggressive about it and showed no concern that somebody could have been seriously injured and simply wanted to retain deposit which he is using for for what should be maintainence.Insufficient toilet rolesVery weak showersLuke warm water in showerGas cooker not working properlyPlace does need a facelift."
