Get away from it all with West Sussex log cabins

Home to some of the UK's most diverse landscapes, West Sussex is the perfect destination for a seaside or countryside break.

The county's idyllic countryside, historical landmarks, and quaint villages offer the perfect escape from the stresses and hustle of every day life.

Hikers will enjoy trekking South Downs Way's remarkable 100-mile national trail, or if you'd prefer a relaxed morning stroll, head to one of the county's many beaches where you'll discover over 50 miles of glorious coastline. Fan of the arts? Chichester Festival is an annual event with a wide range of performances including plays, musicals, and live music.

If this sounds like your dream holiday, then why not stay in one of our West Sussex log cabins? You can take it easy and recharge in nature, before heading out to explore the sights and attractions of the area.

Why choose a West Sussex weekend break or staycation?

The beautiful county of West Sussex boasts acres of beautiful countryside, miles of spectacular coastline, and gorgeous villages and towns. You'll find scenic locations, wide open spaces, fascinating history, and pristine beaches.

Base yourself in the pretty cathedral city of Chichester and discover what used to be a Roman and Anglo-Saxon settlement. It's been a major market town from the Roman era to the present day, and the city is lovely to walk around. Enjoy a stroll down the Chichester Canal, visit the Bishop's Palace Gardens, gaze in wonder at the cathedral, and enjoy a relaxing evening around Chichester Harbour.

Or why not stay in one of the most stunning towns in West Sussex, Arundel? The small town is mostly known for its two impressive landmarks, Arundel Cathedral and Arundel Castle, and it's history of being a bustling market town and important inland port adds to the town's rich legacy. The castle dates back a thousand years, and many original features remain to this day.

Ten miles west of Brighton is Worthing, which has a charming and relaxed atmosphere, a traditional pier built in 1862, and a long pebble beach. Horsham is another lovely historic market town to visit. Dating back to the 10th century, Horsham was even mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. It's a stunning town full of ancient pubs, quirky streets and alleys, and historic buildings.

West Sussex is the second most green and wooded county in England (losing only to Surrey), with beautiful, dense woodland covering almost 20% of the land. South Downs National Park is located in West Sussex and is ideal for long walks and sensational views.

It's not just the countryside West Sussex is famous for. The area is renowned for its excellent beaches. West Wittering is recognised with Blue Flag status thanks to its clean stretches of sand and sparkling clean waters.

Climping Beach is a quiet, rural beach made up of shingles and pebbles and surrounded by trees and grass banks. As the tide goes out, you can walk along miles of exposed sand. Another beach we love is Littlehampton, which has everything you'd want from a British seaside resort. There's a promenade, amusements, theme park, seafront gardens, and the UK's longest bench!

West Sussex is also known for its fine selection of historic houses and stately homes. You won't want to miss the incredible Goodwood House, Fishbourne Roman Palace, and Petworth House.

We've only scratched the surface of the countless attractions West Sussex has to offer. To see it for yourself, book one of our West Sussex log cabins and plan your perfect adventure in this wonderful county.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • John - Verified booking

NOT DOG FRIENDLY Owner does not accept "large" dogs.

We checked with Sykes as we have a Springer spaniel who weighs 25 kilos. They checked with the owner, who said that was ok. So we booked and paid. On our second day there, we had to contact the owner as the security gate had broken. When she saw us, she made it quite clear we were lucky she hadn't refused us entry as she was entitled to do as we had a "large hairy dog". When we disputed this because Sykes had checked beforehand, she denied this. I subsequently checked with Sykes, and they have records on their system about having the conversation with the owner about our dog being 25 kilos. Furthermore, she made it clear that her cleaners weren't paid to clean up after dogs, and we were responsible for making sure that the property was left as clean as we found it. Only later did we see the CCTV camera outside, which is how she saw what dog we had, despite being advised by Sykes. There are no signs advising of CCTV, which is illegal. We ended our "holiday" two days early, having cleaned everywhere and taken photos as evidence. And, the property is only 15 feet from the road where the morning traffic starts quite early

This was more of a ‘mobile home’ than a cottage but was pretty comfortable.

It is well sheltered by trees (gets very little sun) and felt just slightly damp - but opening the big door and windows soon cleared that. It has all the equipment and facilities needed but was a little bijou! The shower was a tight squeeze to get into but fine once in it! There were only two of us but I think 4 adults would feel constricted - especially if the weather was bad. We luckily had a week of glorious autumn sunshine. . It is positioned on a fairly quiet lane just off the busy A272. Turning onto and off this road needs patience and maybe a polite driver to let you turn. There are lots of things to do around there, within a 45 minute drive or closer. We particularly enjoyed Standen House (NT), Hever Castle (we were lucky to visit at the same time as a big craft market), Shoreham-by-Sea (pleasant little town), Lewes (get the history walking trail map), Bignor Roman villa and Eastbourne (lovely seafront). Denise was very welcoming (great banana loaf) and was a friendly and unobtrusive host. Look out for the wildlife in the orchard - deer, squirrels, rabbits and birds.

Very compact lodge, which was nice and clean, in a lovely area.

We visited in winter but the decking would be nice to sit out on in better weather and obviously would greatly enlarge the living space available. The bedrooms are very compact with no real space down one side of the bed, one of the bedrooms doesn't really have any space for even a small suitcase although there are a couple of small drawers and some hanging space. The lodge was nice and warm and had a good shower too. We were unable to connect to the wifi and the owner and his son very helpfully came out to reset the router for us but unfortunately the connection was still very patchy and dropped out frequently, we also had limited mobile coverage (O2). The owner did mention that fibre broadband would be available from early January so this should solve that problem. Overall the lodge is very nice and has all the facilities needed to have a nice break but travel light!

Hope Cottage was small, but perfectly formed! It was quiet, comfortable and very well equipped. My wife enjoys cooking, especially when there is good local produce available. This was the case at the excellent Farmers' Market in Shoreham and in the local shops in Henfield and the surrounding area. The kitchen equipment was probably the best we have ever had in a holiday property, and there was a great welcome hamper to get us started. The owners respected our privacy, but were very friendly when we did meet them, and we had a clear impression that they would have been available if we had needed their help. Finally the cottage was a good base for walking and touring in the lovely Sussex countryside.

Positives: Lovely lodge, well equipped & quality furnishing/linen.

Well maintained park, beautiful lakeside walks.Short drive into Chichester. Negatives: Arrived on Saturday WiFi working. Wednesday, we lost it so couldn't access TV Apps or use our tablets& the phone signal was not very good either. Their were no instructions 're loss of WiFi. There was also no info leaflets 're local attractions etc but We were given a site map at reception. We chose this park as there is a new indoor pool & we would have liked a couple of swims we obviously thought we would be able to use the pool....wrong! We would have had to buy a ' Leisure Access Card ' from reception £27.50 EACH. We didn't bother. It also have access to entertainment we didn't want.
