"This is a fantastic house with beautiful views. Enough space for larger groups. Two large bathrooms, spacious bedrooms. Kitchen and utility room with all the trimmings, only the tap in the kitchen did not work properly and was half loose and the extractor hood did not.Minpunten are the roller blinds for the sloping windows in the bedrooms. These can be attached with a strip of Velcro in 1 bedroom but in the other something was made of kneaded rubber which did not fit, so no darkening for the windows. The double bed in this room really did not fit, just deep holes in the old mattress. The bedding was fine, however. And the other beds were fine too. Furthermore, it was noticeable that the house was equipped with cheap materials and the doors of the kitchen and conservatory did not fit well and had large gaps of half a centimeter. The stove was doing fine, by the way, so we did not have it cold. Plus is also the presence of ironing board and iron and further there was a lot of information about the omgeving aanwezig.De arrival was less, we could not find it and were telephoned by a young man who was hardly interested and us in the wrong direction sent. When we finally found it we had to get the key out of the safe with code to enter. Fine, but the house was cold and chilly, it was already dark and we did not feel very welcome, despite the bottle of apple juice, cookies and chips that were ready in the kitchen. Also a number of things did not work, we called again and the young man came within 10 minutes. But he did not know it either, we later had to invent everything ourselves, we found that a shame. Furthermore, the house can only be reached by car via a narrow bump road that leads to the main road and you can not go anywhere on foot. This is difficult when you have to let dogs out. Still, it remains a beautiful house, but it needs some tender, love and care, just"

"This is lovely house in an excellent location and good local restaurants. We were disappointed with the house though. When you pay premium prices you expect a premium property. For example the dishwasher was broken, we couldn't get the electric induction hob to work and couldn't find instructions. It was marketed as sleeping eight but only had 5 cereal bowels and a mixture of crockery odds and ends. There were too few saucepans. One of the patio chairs had a bolt missing and was potentially unsafe. Several lights didnt work despite changing the bulbs, (not something you should have to do when you arrive). The kitchen table was too small for anything other than two people, the logburner had not been cleaned out and there were cobwebs here and there. Then you are told that to use the hot tub will cost you £150! Clearly the owner doesn't want you to use it.If these issues are addressed we would stay again but until they are we couldn't recommend it. This post has been made with the full knowledge of English Country Cottages."

"We had a lovely stay, 4 adults and we filled it! I am not sure where another two would fit in, not only the day beds but also it would have been a squeeze around the kitchen table. So we were quite pleased my son and his wife did not join us, as they may have! The beds were extremely comfortable and lovely en suites with all space well used and everything we needed.Downstairs you had to duck under beams which we managed and we loved all the homely touches. We loved the location and the farm shop a 5 minute walk away was a bonus. To reach wonderful countryside from the back door was great and the outlook and peace was fabulous. We walked a lot and explored Ashdown Forest and 'Pooh' country and found a great coffee (the best we had) and farm shop at Cherry Gardens Farm on a circular walk we did round Withyham. Having our OS map was a plus.Visited Wakehurst, Penshurst Place and Hever Castle which were all beautiful with Autumn colours and sunshine. Very lucky."

" We were looking for a venue where two octogenarians could stay in peace and comfort before and after a get together of four generations to celebrate a Diamond Wedding. Hurstlands proved perfect for the occasion - plenty of space, inside and out, for adults and children (and three toilets!). There is also plenty of on-site car parking. The family were impressed and delighted with the venue and we enjoyed the abundance and variety of wildlife in the garden and field. The owner was particularly friendly and helpful, and the local postman enjoyed delivering the card from The Queen!! "

"We stayed as a family party of six including my sisters dog. We wanted accommodation near to Brighton as we had tickets to see a concert on Saturday night. The accommodation was lovely and close enough to Brighton and other nice towns, we especially enjoyed Lewes. The accommodation is over two floors and my husband and I stayed upstairs which had its own lounge area. My only comment would be that it lacked a mini kitchen up there I think a small table with kettle would allow folks to make a drink without having to go downstairs. There was plenty of parking for three cars. The beds were comfortable with nice fresh linen. I think a bit of time spent on improving the garden would be good especially around the BBQ area. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend Hurstlands to friends and family."
