Fern Cottage is absolutely lovely.
We've stayed at around a dozen cottages in the last couple of years alone and Fern Cottage ranks amongst the best two or three that we've stayed in. As a couple, we have high expectations - and Fern Cottage delivered on all counts. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped, with plenty of chopping boards, sharp knives, oven ware and more tools and gadgets than we are used to having at most cottages. There were dishwasher tablets, washing machine pods and a handwash in the kitchen, too - and trust me when I say that not all cottages provide these essentials. For entertainment, there was also a digital radio as well as a Bluetooth speaker in the kitchen alone. There was also a generous welcome pack with bread, eggs, milk and a delicious sticky toffee pudding. The bed in the master bedroom was wide and the mattress very comfortable. The shower had excellent shower pressure. There was a bottle of handwash and hand cream in the bathroom - as well as a room fragrance. The whole cottage was clean and has been renovated in a fairly contemporary but sympathetic fashion. Adding to the overall ambience, there were plenty of framed prints, paper weights, books and other objects that made it feel very homely and warm. The long, narrow garden and patio were tidy and we enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying the sunshine that streams into the garden in the mornings and at lunchtime. Our dog very much enjoyed wandering up and down the garden and sniffing to his heart's content. The host (Jen) sent a warm email asking if we had any questions. We had no questions or problems so didn't need to get in touch with her. But I got the impression that she would have been warm and friendly if we had needed to contact her for anything. We would definitely recommend Fern Cottage.

We booked a last minute 5 night break at Ferne Cottage, as we wanted to get the family (2 children aged 5 and 8) out of London for a few nights after months of lockdown.
We had an absolutely wonderful time there and we honestly couldn't fault any part of the trip. Nick, the host was in touch soon after the booking to check on our needs and was always on hand for anything we needed whilst we were there. The cottage itself was exactly as described, extremely clean and tidy and had everything that we needed to enjoy our stay without having to bring lots of stuff from home - it was clear that the design of the cottage had been well thought out, Nick even left some bread and cake for our arrival along with charcoal for the BBQ and most importantly (for us anyway!), some coffee pods for the Nespresso machine!! - There was also plenty of local information once you arrived, with walking books and maps all available. Rooms were all very comfortable and extremely comfy pillows meant that I ordered one on my return to London! Location wise, great! We'd never been to the Cotswolds and Winchcombe is a lovely small town (but very much feels like a village) a short drive away from Broadway, a beautifully quintessential Cotswold village with lots of independent shops, boutiques and places to eat and drink (although due to COVID, we played it safe and stuck to an ice cream on a grassy verge!). Broadway tower was also a short drive away and well worth a visit, very well set up with cafe and a beautiful view across the surrounding countryside. I've already recommended the cottage to my family and would most definitely return. A thoroughly enjoyable trip.

Beautifully presented and tucked away off the main high street, everything you could need for a self catering holiday, the wine, biscuits and milk was a lovely treat, and the dog biscuits and cosy bed was definitely appreciated by our 4 legged companion.
The cottage is an excellent base to explore all thatâs on offer in Winchcombe and the surrounding areas from all the well sign posted walking and the heritage steam railway to Sudley castle. The lack of parking wasnât an issue the long stay car park at a £1.00 day is a 5 minute walk, and loading and unloading the car was achieved by on road parking where you have a hours stay. There is a local shop right opposite the entrance which was handy and a few public houses serving food. The courtyard garden however is not sole use, which was a shock when we returned back to find a party sat right in front of the French windows, it appears to be shared with the postmasterâs accommodation, it is not just access as advertised, so privacy was a issue, it was very hot and we had to keep the dog indoors and keep the French doors closed which wasnât ideal, there is two tables in separate places but only 4 chairs and said party took them all and a bench; so be aware especially if you have a dog this is a shared open space, with potentially up to 6 people in the accommodation linked to the cottage, there was a little noise from the pub beer garden a few doors down but not late at night and was only because we were blessed with beautiful weather and everyone was sat outside.

We have just had a wonderful week at Fern Cottage and genuinely could not recommend it more!
The property is spotlessly clean, welcoming and cosy; not to mention beautifully decorated! The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need (and more) - dishwasher, washing machine, coffee machine and a Bluetooth speaker. Relaxing in the living room of an evening is a real delight, there are plenty of books and magazines, a fabulous fire and Netflix on the TV. Upstairs the Master bedroom is very comfortable with luxury bed linen and fluffy towels. The views out to the rear are incredible - a real highlight for us. In terms of location, we really enjoyed being in the centre of the stunning Cotswold town of Winchcombe, which has plenty of local restaurants, shops and cafes, plus a lovely little bakery. The cottage is a short walk away from Sudeley Castle, which is well worth a visit, whilst other local walks take in the surrounding countryside. Winchcombe is close to Broadway, Chipping Campden and Stow-on-the-Wold, as well as being a 15 minute drive to Cheltenham. We also enjoyed visiting Bath for the day. We can tell a lot of thought and effort has gone into the renovation of this period property, and it is all the little details that make it really stand out from the crowd. We will definitely be back!
