What our customers are saying about our Holiday Cottages With Swimming Pools In Tavistock To Rent.

- Mr Tregellas, April 2018 - verified booking

"The property is located at the heart of a working farm and views from all its windows are onto a large cattle-shed, where you can watch the cattle being fed. The farmhouse is spacious and well-equipped and comfortably furnished in a traditional style. A winning feature is the enormous open fireplace in the dining room, in which a fire had been made up before our arrival. Additional logs are available for purchase. The dining room is dark and cosy and a good place to hunker down when Dartmoor's notorious rain or fog sets in. The light-filled conservatory is a wonderful place to have breakfast and is stocked with huge numbers of board games. The small gym in a converted barn opposite the house has a few good-quality machines, there is also an indoor games room which we didn't use. It is possible to walk from the farm direct (through a few fields and over a few stiles) onto the moor - on Tim's recommendation we walked via Gibbets Hill and Wheal Betsy to the excellent Elephant's Nest pub at Horndon and back via Mary Tavy. There is plenty to do and see in the vicinity: the charming village of Lydford with the famous Lydford Gorge walk practically within walking distance from the farm, the elegant UNESCO-listed market town of Tavistock about 20 minutes' drive away, large National Trust properties with extensive grounds at Cotehele and Buckland Abbey, and the scenic Tamar Valley Railway offering a picturesque alternative way of travelling into the great port city of Plymouth from the railhead at Gunnislake. A short drive takes you to the many attractive sites on the moor: the stone rows and circles at Merrivale were particularly atmostpheric on a damp and windy Dartmoor day. Overall a very enjoyable visit!"

"After a recommendation I booked the Coach house for mine and my granddaughters birthday, it was the perfect choice. Arrived to a lovely batch of chocolate brownies and a pot of tea. It is right on the moors, so lots of nice walks. The children thoroughly enjoyed the endless pool and especially the farm. The owners Tim and Victoria were very welcoming and were on hand at all times. You can wander around the farm, which is a breeding farm and the children were ecstatic at being able to feed the orphan lambs, I think that was the highlight of their trip. We took our little dog, who was welcomed by the owners 2 dogs, who wander in and out. Our dog became the lady of the manor, sitting on the front doorstep watching over her patch!!! Back to the house, it has all the provisions for a large group. The bed was so comfy, with a big fluffy duvet and pillows. Only niggle was, with 3 children who like to get out into the mud and rain, we needed to wash clothes regularly, but unfortunately the washing machine did not work. We phoned the owners and Tim came over straight away and got it going, but then it gave up. We washed everything by hand, so, a new one would be beneficial, however, this in no way impacted on the break. So overall I would definitely comeback. Thank you Tim and Victoria."

"A lovely location, with great views over the Tamar valley, although you inevitably pay a small price for being in such a beautiful setting - the nearest village is a good 15 min drive away through some very small country lanes. However the nearest Village (B. Alston) is better equipped than most with a train station, 3 village stores and a butchers. The cottage was spotless - we could not fault the cleanliness in any way - and very well-equipped. There is a communal pool which our children loved. All rental cottages have quirks - Boxwood's is that the tumble dryer and freezer were across the drive in an outhouse; this was not an issue for our short stay in summer. The only real negative we could think of is that the cottage has no attached garden. Even this has been considered, with a separate section of the garden (complete with BBQ and summerhouse), allocated to the cottage. This suited us fine, but had we brought our dog the lack of an attached garden could have been an issue. Would definitely come again."

"The bungalow is large and spacious and does have all the equipment required for a family stay. However, the place needed a really good clean and some areas were lacking in maintenance. The bathroom had carpet which is definitely not a good choice in a holiday let. People had not been very careful and the smell was not good. We selected this property primarily for the heated pool. It was not warm enough to use in an an enjoyable manner. The neighbours obviously do not like the fact that they live next door to a holiday let and they made it clear. Very rude and made our stay very awkward."
