"We stayed at Ailnack Cottage for a week in september. The cottage is very complete and homey. The couches are very comfortable, the kitchen has everything you need and is well equiped and there is a nice dining table with chairs to have your meals. The bedrooms are well sized and the beds are comfortable. There are two ramps in the house. One ramp, going up to the bedrooms is a bit tricky (tripped several times over it), but luckily there is a grap rail. The wifi was constant, the tv was very good and as said, the couches were very comfortable. The only thing we did not like that much are all the rules and do's/don'ts. The list seems endless and most of the things on the list are obvious to us. And we missed any garden furniture or a couple of simple chairs so we could have sit outside when the sun was shining. There was a wooden bench outside against the house but it did not look like it could hold a couple of adults. There is ample parking space and the location of the cottage ensures you have beautiful road trips visiting the attractions in the surroundings. All in all we had a nice stay and would recommend this cottage."

"We have been at this cottage for the weekend, arriving on Friday night and leaving on Monday morning. The location is really good easy to find and next to a area with a couple of local pubs that close around 11.30pm.Good Points:- Location,- Furniture good and in good condition,- Great areas, just the downstairs room is a little smaller, but is ok.- TV in all Rooms and Living room- All the beds have electrical bed warmers,Bad Points:- The owner told us that the heating was on permanently, but every night the radiators get cold (Around 2/3 am), and even with the heating at 30Degrees the house was not warm enough, there was a door next to the kitchen closed with a Pad, that because of the noises that we hear after 6am, makes us think that was the place where was the boiler and the main control of the central heating.- The garden could be a little more tidy and clean.- The wifi, seems to be shared from another house (maybe the house of the owner, behind the cottage), and we can just get connection in to the backroom (bigger one) right next to the back wall or in the outside garden. "A lovely cottage recently decorated and carpeted, it was nice to have a selection of tv channels to watch while relaxing in the evening and WiFi for the teenager! The beds were very comfortable and the cottage lovely and warm. In a fantastic location with great amenities within walking distance. We did did have an issue with noisy neighbours (barking/crying dog, reviving motor bike and boy racer) at certain times of the day, but obviously this is beyond the cottage owners control. I would recommend taking your own towels as we paid to hire them and didn’t feel it was worth the money (over £30 for 4 bath and a couple of extra hand towels). We also had to clean pots and pans before we used them as they weren’t very clean and the fridge was VERY smelly! All in all a few minor things that didn’t stop us enjoying our stay and we would return if wanting to stay in the area again."

"We loved Bearberry Cottage. In 30 years of 'cottaging' in Scotland, Bearberry is right up with the very best we have experienced. We usually book remoter locations, but this very quiet residential setting proved peaceful yet within easy walking distance of all amenities. The walks straight from the door were delightful, perfect for our dog. The bungalow is freshly decorated, well furnished and the owners have upgraded the interior to a high standard. The central heating is very effective and the wood burner adds an extra option to cheer up winter evenings. I have marked the cottage down from 10/10 on only one category, value for money, because mid and high season prices are very high compared with other properties we use. However, the visitor book shows that this is no deterrent to others. Bearberry won't disappoint, that's for sure."

"The Coyles is exceptionally comfortable and warm, clean and well maintained, very spacious (3 lounges!), has excellent facilities and equipment, and a large area of off-road parking. It’s dog-friendly with a fully fenced garden. Ballater is well equipped with high quality shops within 5 minutes walk of the Coyles (baker, butcher, grocer, hardware, outdoor, books, Co-op). There are several good restaurants and bars where we enjoyed a whisky and beer tasting festival one evening. There are too many places to visit and activities to do in a week, whether you like walking, castles, trains, golf, fishing, cycling (and more). The autumn fungus forays were some of the best we’ve been on. The Coyles is highly recommended, it reads well in the brochure and is even better on arrival. We’ll be back if others haven’t booked up first. Oct 2011. "
