"This cottage was very nice however with a few minor changes it could be really lovely and give better value for money in my opinion. The bedroom was adequate, but more storage space would have been very useful. The bed faces the window which looks out onto a cow shed which is most unattractive. If the bed is turned through 90 degrees so that it faces the wall between the kitchen area and bedroom, with a nice picture on the wall it would be much more pleasant. It would also allow enough room for a chest of drawers/dressing table as well as the wardrobe on the wall on which the bed is currently. The mirror could also be put up instead of just being propped against a wall which is a bit inconvenient. The equipment in the kitchen was odd. There were 2 tea pots and an electric carving knife, but no casserole dish or colander which I think would be more useful. Very little of the crockery matched which is no big deal but would have just been a bit nicer. I would have appreciated a bit more information about what was recyclable in the area, as I know different authorities allow different items to be recycled. The shower room was very nice, too, but again a bit more storage space for lotions and potions would have just made that little bit of difference. Finally, although we did love the overall location of the cottage we were not aware, before we arrived, just how close it was to the dairy farm. The smell of cows was sometimes rather over powering and the low scale humming noise from the cow shed at 6.15am each morning was rather annoying for someone who is a light sleeper. So a bit of a warning about this may have been useful.I'm sorry this seems so negative. We had a lovely holiday as the location in Staffordshire was perfect for us, and the cottage itself was OK. I may be over fussy, but I genuinely think the cottage could be almost perfect if a bit more thought was given to people's needs. We have stayed at a lot of cottages in the past and we find that the ones which are the best are the ones that have just a little bit extra, which doesn't have to be expensive. We would recommend the cottage to others, but would merely point out our findings."

"We stayed from 5th-12th August 2016We found the property set in the grounds of the owner's house which happened to be right opposite, so shared the same driveway..this was gated so security wasnt an issue, however we were situated right next to the neighbours barn where they do the milking, which we thought would be a problem, we didn't hear them much just the generators in the mornings, and depending on the wind direction a little smelly but not enough to put us off. We were told we could enjoy their grounds but kept ourselves to ourselves and had a peaceful break as intended. The area was beautiful lots to see and do, most things we did were an hour drive away but worth it, but still loads to do nearer. Recommend doing Chatsworth house, matlock bath cable cars, churnet railway, all had lovely views and lots to see and do.We would recommend this place to others, as ideal for walkers."

"We stayed in Kipling lodge for a week with our dog at the end of Aug. The lodge was lovely with loads of space and was well equiped . The hot tub was amazing and we spent most of our evenings in there. The position of the lodge and surrounding area was Brilliant .. we walked round the lake every morning it was great to have it so close. The bedding and towels were clean and fresh...But it was such a shame that the kitchen was so dirty ..it was horrible .. we had to scrub the sides , tiles and cupboards before we could use them . The mattresses were so uncomfortable.. old and worn out and the sofas had both seen better days .(reviews from 2015 were saying the same thing!! ) I booked the lodge believing it had an enclosed garden so we could let the dog out on the grass but both sides are open although the wooden decking has been gated."

"Overall the cottage was just about okay. There were simple things that let it down.Positive-The cottage was in a good location for walking the manifold way up to Wetton hill and Thors cave. It was on the main road though and very noisy. It had character and the wood burner was good for warming the house up.The kitchen area was small but had good equipment. You would struggle to fit 4 people around table.Negative- overall cleanliness was really bad and comment book had many comments about this. The cushions on the sofa had lots of stains on them.Bedding was clean though.Main bed was uncomfortable and springs and electric blanket could be felt.Small tv which scratched our DVD and then wouldn't play others. The towels were too small.I wouldn't stay there again I'm afraid."

"We chose this property because of its location and size initially. It proved very easy to book and the emailed arrival instructions were also very clear. The welcome basket was the first of many super extras that the website did not mention or show. We have had many years of 'holiday lets' and without doubt this is the best we've ever experienced - in this country, Europe and USA. Everything has been tastefully decorated, the property is spotlessly clean, and has been so expertly equipped that nothing was left out. During our stay we made full use of the garden - for playing croquet, dining and just enjoying the atmosphere in the evenings. We would have no hesitation in recommending Overton Bank House to anyone."
