What our customers say about their holidays

    • Anthony - Verified booking

      Amazing cottage.

It’s the perfect blend of traditional, with modernity hidden away but giving you lovely comfort. The underfloor heating makes you feel “plugged in” directly to a heater by your feet. The traditional style is all very tasteful. Wifi is excellent, beds supportive and the kitchen works, but it was a challenge to find the cutlery (but do read the manual - it’s in a drawer under the dining table). Great to have a dedicated EV charger, we left £40 honesty money to cover electricity costs charging our car. It was a bit of a fiddle to use, with an rfid card needed to start the charge. Apparently there’s an app that can be used to pay for electricity but I tried it and I was insta-bamboozled by what I had to do. Location is mesmerising! No donkey was seen, but lots of Roe deer. The road outside is so quiet that with don’t think anyone drove past our house all evening. This is the perfect rural getaway. Keep your speed down though as one deer did jump right in front of our car. The house does have washing machine and freezer, and they are located in the barn. In that barn you can see what makes this house lovely and cosy - a wood pellet boiler, massive thermal store and a solar inverter. I’m a solar geek myself, so I’m always interested to see how other people have done it.

The house is a charming mixture of old and modern.

With full underfloor heating throughout it is cosy. The choice of using the large, easy to light, solid fuel stove in the main room gives an extra heat source if needed. The bathroom has a strong shower and a modern material bath that allows for a good soak if you've just had a hard day walking. The kitchen has good cooking utensils and pots and pans of a very good standard. The Smeg oven was spotless and hit a temp of 240 for our pizza one night with ease. The kitchen layout is old fashioned and could take a little getting used to but this has really been dictated by the cottage and is more than made up for with the standard of the equipment. If you need a big comfy sofa and armchairs and a big TV and strong WiFi this is not the place for you. If you do want good mattresses on the beds, a large drying room, huge garden with large pond, place to play games outside and feel as if you are in a different world then Faldarroch is a place I could recommend.

We had such a wonderful time.

The location of our cottage was perfect. It provided a combination of peace and tranquillity alongside easy access to beautiful scenery. The locals we met, whilst dog walking, were friendly and engaging. The cottage itself was well equipped and had everything you could need, with a sunny garden. The bathroom offered a choice of a walk-in shower and a bath which was ideal, and the water pressure was great. The 2 bedrooms were both spacious and well equipped with coat hangers and a hairdryer. There was a roller blind as well as curtains in the bedrooms which gave us the option of darkening the rooms for a good nights sleep. The main bedroom could have easily accommodated a king size or even a super king sized bed, which would have been an added bonus, as we found the double bed was small and too firm (just our personal preference). All in all a great place to stay.

The cottage was beautifully appointed for our stay, we arrived just on 4pm, I did have a slight problem with the key safe, but that was because of my nails.

. on entering there was a slight musty odour, however this did not go into the rest of the property, the garden was a lovely feature and the dogs sniffed every inch of it... there was everything we needed for our stay, the bed was very comfortable, and lovely large room, with more than enough cupboard space, the lounge was spacious and furniture altho little dated and worn was comfortable and served its purpose, kitchen was well equipped, however only used it for breakfast, the heating system worked well, and believe me its was needed as very wet and windy and temperature dropped in late afternoon, there is a lovely pub The Farmers Inn approximately 1 mile away, in the summer I imagine it would be a lovely walk, however we took car as raining. All in all we had as lovely 3 night stay, and the dogs enjoyed themselves

We love this area and already have two different cottages booked for later in the year. This was an extra getaway so we thought we'd try somewhere else. We like Monreith for the sandy beaches at low tide and the St Medan golf course. Tigh Samhradh attracted us as we had seen it being redeveloped. We were not disappointed. It was beautifully presented and equipped. We hope to return at some point. However, there were only two of us and our dog and we felt it might be a bit too cosy with four adults staying as the second bed is a sofa bed in the living room. Although we stayed in February with sunset before 6pm and this will be less of a problem during the summer with everyone out enjoying the wonderful walks and scenery.
