What our customers say about their holidays

    • Christopher - Verified booking

      Where do I begin?

The place is amazing, Maureen is amazing, and it is very clear she adores dogs - our dog got the biggest welcome and was spoilt from the off with treats and toys. Each cottage has its own gate onto a large, shared field where you can walk your dog and play fetch - on our break, we had the field all to ourselves as none of our neighbours had a dog or at least, those that dig had other fields of their own. Considering pets are welcome the place is spotless. No dust, everything smelled lovely, fresh clean linen, perfectly clean bathroom and kitchen. Honestly, I cannot stress enough how clean the place was inside and out you'd have to see it to believe it. The attention to detail is fabulous too; a fire was already laid out in the hearth ready to light, we were welcomed with a cream tea and milk in the fridge. There were towels and dressing gowns available just for use with the hot tub. The hot tub itself was already nice and warm and we were given a lesson on its usage. The garden was lovely and peaceful. It catches the rays all day long too and there are sun lounges, tables and chairs a plenty to take advantage. For those who use it, the internet is fast; each cottage has its own Wi-Fi network, and it appears to use a microwave link back to the main house which has a near perfect performance. We happily stream 4K television while we were there, it never stuttered once. I did not test the latency, but I suspect it is low enough to game - not that I am suggesting you game while on holiday in Cornwall as there is plenty to do. If it helps, and for those who use it, the entrance is at; ///innovator.simulates.plug - I didn't see this on any of the sites - Google maps has the place listed correctly but for those who use alternative sat nav systems on their phones the above may help. Thank you Maureen for a superb visit. We hope to return one day.

My husband and I booked decided to book this cottage so that we could take our dog with us, and wow, we certainly didn't expect such a high standard in a pet friendly cottage.

We were welcomed with open arms by Maureen who owns the cottages, she showed us around and then left us to it, she came to check the hot tub daily, however she is clever with her timings and we we really didn't see that much of her. We had a beautiful cream tea and other goodies and essentials left by her to welcome us. This lady has thought of everything in her cottages, and you would be hard pushed to find something she hasn't. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen, and every room follows suit. The sofas, the bed, towels and linens are all quality, and certainly not what we expected when bringing our dog with us. The garden is private with a beautiful hot tub and access to a field via a gate in the garden, which was perfect to take our boy for a run in, he had a fantastic time here, there were dog bowls, blankets, towels, treats and a box of toys for him to play with, when I say everything has been thought of, it truly has. Although there are other cottages on this property, you would not think this, you can spend all day in your garden and not hear a thing apart from birds singing, peaceful and relaxing were the words my husband and I used regularly. There are some beautiful beaches around that are dog friendly and Truro is only a short drive away, there are ample places to visit, and the information pack that is left for you to read allows you to see all the beaches in Cornwall and if they are dog friendly, how close the different shops are and other information to help you have a wonderful stay. Would we return for another holiday? absolutely, we didn't want to leave and return to reality.

You approach on a narrow road with no passing places, I imaging in summer this would be pot luck to whether you'd meet another car and have a 500m reverse or not!

One parking space on an incline, which was often parked in by others. Outdoor decking is dirty, covered in debris which has not been cleaned since autumn. The banister on the desking is rotten and would probably snap if you were to lean on it. The chairs and table outside (on both decks) are dirty and rusty. Windows are filthy, both internal (covered in previous dogs slaver) and externally. Moving into the property, sofas are damaged and worn, general cleanliness is shocking - large clumps of previous dog hair, dirty/dusty skirtings, marks on walls and furniture, sand on floors, stairs carpet dirty and stained. TV in main lounge does not pick up most channels - had to change remote batteries. In kitchen ceiling spot lights not working, fridge has a damaged seal so struggles to cool, oven has had all symbols rubbed away so difficult to use. Kitchen window and blind are filthy, kitchen door handle broken. Outdoor area to rear was covered in leaves, twigs and general mess. Door leading to this area had a broken handle. Hot tub cover was covered in bird mess... luxury this area was not! Upstairs, again floors, windows and furniture dirty. Bed was 'okay' I'm not sure its a kingsize though like advertised - two singles pushed together. Main bedroom door handle broken so couldn't close door - balcony out of bedroom glass railing was filthy and seats were rusty. The house in general could do with a good clean and refresh. Overall disappointing!

Had a wonderful week away over New Year despite the weather being dire.

Be Our Guest is beautifully decorated and equipped and had everything we needed for us and our two little dogs. The garden is fully secure even for our tiny miniature dachshunds. We didn't use the dog walking field behind the cottage as unfortunately, our dogs are divas and don't do wet tummies. We didn't know how to access it, but Maureen soon showed us. We hadn't appreciated it was accessible from the garden. We only used the hot tub once as it was raining every other day, but it was lovely. The dogs loved the selection of toys Maureen had left but sadly they weren't able to eat the treats left for them as one of our dogs is on a special diet. Sofa is lovely and comfy as is the bed. We slept very well all week. Absolutely loved the bath! We had organised a food delivery which worked really well, they had no trouble finding the place. Only downside for us was we had got held up by traffic so we didn't arrive until after dark and got lost. Quick phone call to Maureen and she gave us directions. The outside light wasn't working either which made unpacking a challenge, but we didn't venture out after dark again so it wasn't an issue. We will return I am sure and hopefully in the better weather.

The property was set in a beautiful location, our little one adored the horse, pony, cows, chickens & goats and the view over Argal reservoir was idillic.

The accommodation was well presented, however there were a few general maintenance things we felt needed addressing, such as plugs pulled away from the walls, drawer handles broken, one of the bedside table doors in the twin room was left off, extractor fan needed a good clean in the bathroom, along with some mould build up in the shower; the main bedroom blinds were quite bad for mould too. However with these issues rectified we felt it would be a really lovely place to stay, with that overall the quality of the furniture and facilities to a very high standard, the addition of a cream tea+milk was a nice touch after a really long journey with a toddler in tow, beds were very comfy and we all slept very well each night! The animals were really friendly on the farm - a great factor for kids! Additional on site free bits were a nice bonus - trampoline, pool table etc. Good location - most beaches less than an hour away, local beach 10 mins away was really beautiful too!
