What our customers say about their holidays

    • Samantha - Verified booking

This is by far the best property we’ve stayed in for our dog.

We were so impressed at how much space there was. This property is all enclosed so can let the dog off the lead. We had a wonderful time. Loved sitting in the garden letting the dog and our little girl play. The views are amazing so relaxing and tranquil. The finer details with this property is just on another level. There was milk in the fridge, a little hamper of food such as eggs and cereals. There was a high chair for our daughter and also a carry cot so we didn’t need to bring ours. Everything we needed was right there, even board games which came in handy when it started to rain. The property is situated close to the nearest town which you could walk to but we drove. We visited the monkey forest as well which was about 15 minutes away, worth a visit. I honestly can’t fault it just wish we had booked for longer. We will definitely look at booking again in the near future. Loved everything about our holiday so thank you very much.

On the whole very pleased with the booking process although it is quite confusing as we originally booked via the Dog Friendly Cottages website (part of Snaptrip!), Then on our confirmation email we were advised that The Potting Shed property is managed by Derbyshire Country Cottages however we were then advised in the same email of the contact details for calling the property managers, in this case Original Cottages. Just a tad confusing, eh! As for The Potting Shed itself; we were extremely delighted with our stay there. Although the building is slightly smaller than our bedroom in Dumfries, the owners have demonstrated how much you can cram into a relatively small space. Bed, table, chairs, well equipped small kitchen, shower room with toilet, TV, Wi-Fi, and best of all a large, secluded, enclosed garden for the dog to play in and for us to eat out in.

Fantastic little lodge perfect for single, couple or couple with a young child (cot age).

The lodge was cosy, well equipped, clean and very welcoming, it was on a secure site with close access to town, the Cannock chase, and other smaller shops! We had a very friendly welcome from the owner with a little welcome basket that even had some snacks for my little one, and some milk in the fridge for that first hot drink! It's a small gesture but it made the world of difference! Loved the fact that the cot provided was a proper cot not just a travel cot and the owner was always happy to be contacted if we needed anything! The property itself was well maintained, plenty of space and plenty of things for organising meals, the walk in shower was perfect and the bathroom could be nice warm with the little heater. Huge thank you for a very friendly welcome and a lovely little holiday lodge!

We had a super week at Curlew Barn.

The property is very comfortable and well equipped. Friendly and helpful owners there to welcome us. They provided very useful information on the local area. We loved the hot tub - beautiful view from the garden. Lots to do nearby. We did lots of walking at the nearby manifold way, near Barlestone, and at the Tittesworth reservoir. We also visited some great places within an easy drive, namely Shugborough Hall, Kedleston hall, Trentham Gardens and Chatsworth. Handy supermarket a few miles away in Leek and M&S food just a few minutes away in Ashbourne. The Bangladeshi restaurant within walking distance receives great, well-deserved, reviews - we are there twice! Will definitely return. This is a very under-rated area with beautiful walking and plenty to entertain visitors.

A very small but compact and well equipped cottage in the beautiful countryside with some amazing views. We received a welcome pack on arrival which was most thoughtful and welcome. I always take a supply of hand wash, cling film, fairy liquid, foil etc etc and toiletries but all of this was provided. There were a variety of pubs and eateries, the closest of these being a five minute stroll down the hill, The Pack Horse. The food there was good and reasonably priced so too was the drinks. We also ate at the Cheshire Cheese in Longnor and here too both the food and drinks were good and reasonably priced. There's lots of wonderful places to visit in the area and we enjoyed the lovely Peak district scenery. The owners were available for any queries but left us in privacy.
