What our customers say about their holidays

    • Dalvir - Verified booking

This was a family break, just to get away from it all for a couple of days and relax, which we were able to do without any problems.

From the moment we stepped into the property, we felt like were at home. The cleanliness was amazing with not a single fault to be found anywhere. The beds were very comfortable and a great nights sleep was had by all. Great detail is given to make the rooms as warm and enticing as possible. The living area had enough seating so that the 5 of us were very comfortably sat around the log fire to chat or watch TV. The owners Dave and Rose met us on arrival and then left us to our privacy, but made sure we knew they were on hand should we need them. They were very helpful when we couldn't get the TV to work and even though it was 9.30pm, Dave came and sorted the problem out for us. We could not have asked for better service than that. The kitchen was a fabulous size and had everything you needed to dine as a family and every utensil you needed was provided. The most amazing thing about the weekend was the jacuzzi hot tub which was enjoyed thoroughly by us all. Sitting in there, relaxing with stunning views was just what we needed, and although the rain showers continued, they didn't put us off enjoying ourselves. I only wish we had booked for longer. The location is very secluded, although on a working farm. The closest shop was about 4 miles away, so not too far, but as we were only there for the weekend, we wanted to make the most of it so took all our food with us. I think if Dave & Rose had a couple of souvenirs, which could be bought it would be fantastic. This is not a negative, but just an idea. I love to take home a fridge magnet/ keyring/ mug, of every place I visit and because we just wanted to relax we didn't go out and about. We all enjoyed this place so much that we hope to book again as soon as we can and I would highly recommend the property and customer service of these hosts. Thank you Dave & Rose from Dal and family.

Words and pictures do not do this place justice - it's first class and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I booked a last-minute stay for 7 nights. Communication with the owners was very easy, and I was provided easy directions although sat-nav took me straight there. On arrival, I received a warm welcome from the owner and a comprehensive tour of the property and features. It was spotlessly clean and felt spacious yet incredibly homely. The location is stunning - well away from the main road, in a valley, with lovely views of fields and woodland. It's very peaceful and stars at night put on a real show. The hot-tub is a proper hot-tub which the owner maintains well, and has a genuine rock 'n' roll insulation cover to keep the temperature stable at night. Kitchen is stocked with good equipment and the fridge freezer was large enough for us only to do one shop all week. The lounge has a good woodburner and cozy ambient lighting. The selection of board games was a lovely touch and we enjoyed time away from the television! All three bedrooms were supremely comfortable, well insulated, and well equipped. The bathrooms have excellent showers. The home has central heating which heats all radiators across two zones and the hot water. It can be thermostatically controlled and has timers and boost settings. The house is so well insulated and warm that we barely needed to use it. The house is situated a few miles north of Brecon. There are lots of things to do locally. If you want to burn some energy off, I recommend climbing Pen y Ffan from the nearby north approach which is much quieter than the south route. At nearly 3,000 ft, it is a spectacular walk from start to finish and well worth a day out. We can't wait to come back to Caecrwn and would not hesitate to others.

We don't usually submit reviews, however we felt that the description of this property oversold it and it was in need of some tender loving care.

The points we want to draw to the owner's attention are noted below: 1. Cleanliness - crockery, tea pot and cutlery needed to be washed prior to use. Previous guests appear to have merely rinsed these items and put them away rather than throughly wash them. The washing machine also dirty resulting in marks on light coloured clothing. Rubber door seal needed cleaning and perhaps too much washing powder was used in previous washes! Spiders webs with dust were found in the bedroom and bathroom. The radiator in the bedroom was full of hair and dust. 2. Shower- the thermostat could not be adjusted, paint splatters on the shower tray 3 Bedding - flannelette sheet and pillowcases on the bed, far too warm in the height of summer 4 Other internal issues - clock in kitchen not working, fridge freezer old, fridge door doesn't always close although there is a note on the fridge saying push to close, drawer in freezer had been broken and was glued back together rather than replaced, dificult to control temperature in fridge due to its age, either freezing or not cold enough. Fruit bowl on shelf broken and although kitchen well equiped we found a lot of chipped crockery. Kitchen stools too high to comfortably sit at the breakfast bar. 5. Back garden - weeds in back seating area. Recycling bins take up a lot of room and would benefit from being all together in a stacking device. 6. Parking- Its not a quiet street, its very narrow with cars parked on both sides and no turning space at the end. Parking was a challenge and other residents asked us to move our car from the door.

      Super amazing stay.

Exactly as described. Is even bigger in person than the pictures appear. Nice large living room with plenty of seating and a big table in the kitchen. Three toilets in the cottage altogether. Lovely big hot tub. There was plenty of room with 5 of us in there. Could easily fit 6 and still have space! Nice enclosed back garden for the dog to happily run around in, and to say hello to the horses on the field underneath! The views are absolutely incredible, you can see the rolling hills of the Beacons from all around. Short drive to Brecon town where we hired a canal boat and had pub lunches/drinks. Aldis and Morrisons there too. The cathedral is super lovely and has a garden cafe. The only down points (which weren't big at all!) Was there were only a few complimentary teabags, and only a few loo rolls. We had to go out and get more of these supplies, which I've never had to do when staying places before, but it was a minor inconvenience. And there was only a small recycling box underneath the sink and nowhere for us to empty it. So we started filling up boxes etc with our recycling, which was obviously a bit of a pain with the dog sniffing about. We didn't really have hot water all week, it was lukewarm at best, but we used the hot tub to warm up so wasn't too much of an issue. But honestly these were minor things. Everything else was super perfect and I would definitely come back again so thank you to the hosts! Perfect way to spend my birthday :)

The property was on the whole very clean, comfortable and owners very friendly.

A couple of minor points which the owner may not be aware of - - The sofas were not very comfortable, it seems that the base seat cushions had gone really flat over time. (particularly the centre sofa where you can feel the wooden frame when sitting down) - We took both our dogs and were informed the could go on the lawn area down the steps from the patio. We always clean up after our dogs but were a little disappointed that there was already a large amount of dog waste on the grass. This could be from the previous guests and I did pick up several bags over a couple of days. - The lounge and kitchen seemed very cold at night even though the heating was on. The two small radiators in the very large lounge just didnt do the trick and so we did have to use the log burner every night to be comfortable. As I say these are minor points but I think its always useful to give all feedback so the owners are aware. This will in no way stop us recommending the property and in all our stay was very nice. The bed in the master bedroom was amazing and so comfortable, house was extremely well equipped and the hot tub was a massive bonus.
