Located in the north of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons), this romantic, dog-friendly couple’s bolthole is perfect for a quiet break in nature. Wide bi-folding doors connect the lounge to the outdoors while a wood burner-effect electric fire is ready to keep you cosy on a chilly night. While based in this quirky countryside cottage, you’ll be close to the Usk Valley, the highest mountains in South Wales and a handful of quaint market towns.
Step inside and find yourself in the characterful kitchen/diner with white-washed stone walls. There is a farmhouse-style fitted one-wall kitchen and a dining table for two with contemporary furnishings throughout the space. Around the corner is a laid-back yet modern lounge with a vaulted, wooden-beamed ceiling and natural light pouring through the patio doors. A comfortable sofa looks out onto the countryside views and sits in front of the TV and wood burner-effect electric fire. A partition wall separates the king-size bedroom area from the lounge. Completing the interior is an en-suite shower room. Outside, you’ll find an enclosed garden with a patio and furniture. There’s also outdoor storage space and private parking for one car.
During your stay in the sleepy Welsh village of Cefn Cantref, you can pop into the town of Brecon (2 miles) if you fancy dining out. From here you can follow the Brecon Walkway along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal to the historical Brynich Aqueduct (6 miles). Active couples can hire kayaks and paddle along the River Usk or take Fido for a dip in Llangorse Lake (10 miles). If you’re feeling fit, head up impressive Pen Y Fan (2 miles).
