What our customers say about their holidays

    • Lisa - Verified booking

The fresh eggs and homemade cake were a lovely surprise on arrival and were enjoyed by all throughout the week.

The venue offered a tranquil relaxing stay. The hot tub was a keen favourite for everyone. The stars were amazing on a clear night. The house was clean and cosy. The kitchen was a great place to gather, enjoying home cooked food and conversation, on a large beautifully crafted wooden table, although the table isn't flat, making eating and serving up a little precarious at times. Generally a well equipped kitchen, although it was ashame the aga was decommissioned, so out of use. A couple of things would have made cooking for a large party a little easier, sharpened knives, the few remaining are very blunt and more of them, a few smaller sized frying pans.. Otherwise pretty good collection of pots and pans. The property advised that you are provided with bed linen and towels, so we didn't bring anything. The bed linen was fine, but we only had 6 towels for 11 people for the week, which was not enough. Especially as you are also using them for the hot tub, you were left trying to dry off with damp wet towels. The wood burner in the living is a homely touch, but unfortunately is missing the seal, making the room smokey. It also meant that it burnt it's way through the wood at a fair pace. Hopefully this will get fixed for the winter. Overall a pleasant and enjoyable stay, would definitely recommend.

The Cider Pound is very clean, modern and well equipped. There is ample space and the accommodation is furnished very comfortably. We would recommend anyone to stay there. The cottage was a rare treat, nestled in beautiful countryside it was so relaxing and tranquil with an abundance of amazing wildlife. Gilbert, Carol, Aubrey and family were excellent hosts. They were always on hand if you needed them and nothing was too much trouble. We had some superb chats and was given sound advice on the area, eateries and places of interest. North Devon's marvellous beaches, picturesque villages and moors were in easy reach of the farm, although some country lanes could be quite narrow in places. It was a joy to return 'home' to The Cider Pound after a busy day sightseeing. Evenings could be spent soaking in the hot tub overlooking rolling hills, whilst the sun sets on glorious countryside, absolute heaven. Highly recommend a these stunning cottages. Lovely base for our group of five couples for a long weekend get together. The property was larger than we expected and had plenty of space for us all. The kitchen was well equipped and made cooking for 10 easy. We loved the quirkiness of the old building with uneven stairs and wonky floor levels in places but it may not be suitable for everyone if you have mobility issues. Also be warned that if you're very tall be prepared to duck in places to avoid some of the lower beans (one of our group is over 6ft 6 and had to do this in places!) There was plenty of wood at the property we could use for the lovely log fire in the living room. It was really nice of an evening sitting in there with the fire burning, chatting and playing games. The hot tub outside was also a lovely bonus and well used by several of our group. Chris the host was very quick and helpful in answering our few questions before we arrived. We would definitely recommend the property and be happy to visit again.

We rented Partridge Farmhouse and Partridge Barn for a family Christmas holiday with 14 people there on Christmas Day and Boxing Day aged 2-91. The accommodation is perfect for a large group and is a great place for families. The properties are in a beautiful setting in the Devon countryside and both the Barn and the Farmhouse were very homely and easy to relax in. Both are very well equipped and there was nothing that we felt was missing. There were also some nice touches including hot tubs which were very popular even on cold December nights and generous supplies of logs for the fire in the sitting room in the Farmhouse. They were also spotlessly clean and were very well prepared for our visit. Chris is an amazing host who was very welcoming and responsive to any questions we had. I could not recommend this place highly enough and it is excellent value. In summary a perfect stay!

    • Mrs Cook - Verified booking

The photos of the gorgeous barn and surroundings are very accurate but they can not do justice to the incredible views and wonderfully relaxed atmosphere on the farm. The owners are an absolute delight, especially Gilbert who was such a star. Having the hot tub maintained so well was such a treat. There are some stunning walks not far away and if castles and national trust parkland are your thing then you are in for a treat as they are literally on your doorstep. We discovered a fabulous pub in a pretty village with quintessential thatched roofs 35 mins drive away called The Agricultural Inn. It is definitely worth a visit. I would love to book one of the barns again in the not too distant future. The furnishings and equipment are all excellent, so clean and if good quality. I was so impressed with the holiday and have described it as magical.
