"The Manor House is a beautiful and comfortable property, spacious and very well equipped and appointed. Very nice touches, like toiletries, dressing gowns, slippers, and a nice food parcel including bottles of prosecco and beer. Naomi (the owner) visited the evening we arrived and was quick to address a couple of minor issues such as light bulbs not working and the washing machine door which had been broken by the previous tenants (it was already booked for repair, and indeed was repaired the day after we arrived). I only have a couple of minor niggles; one was a lack of storage in some of the bedrooms (eg. no drawer space) which seemed odd given that the rooms were all easily large enough to accommodate a chest of drawers! Also, in the kitchen, the crockery/glass/cutlery supply was more than ample, but we did note a lack of large pans, which was strange given that the house sleeps 16. The largest saucepan was only just big enough for one packet of pasta. There was a large heavy wok and some Le Creuset cookware but none of this could be used on the induction hob, only the Aga, and it was very heavy to lift. Minor issues though - it's a lovely property and I'm sure anyone holidaying there will have a great week!We visited the nearby pub (Lydd Arms) a couple of times including once for dinner. They were very friendly, although because we were such a big group we had to pre-order our food 1-2 days which took a bit of organisation."

"We had a great time staying here - the house itself was lovely but we had an issue with the heating and hot water because a gas delivery hadn't arrived. Had this not been the case we would have scored this a 10 overall. The owner was fantastic and did everything they could to get us hot water, even to the extent of buying us extra kettles so we could give the toddlers their baths a bit easier (instead of boiling water in the kitchen and running it upstairs). They gave us extra wood for the fires as well and it really did feel like they did everything they possibly could to sort the issue. We intend to go back to either this house or one of the owner's other houses though as they were lovely, large and very well equipped. There is also a pool table and table football in the courtyard which I think is missing from the description on this site and probably should be added in!"

"Our family had a wonderful stay at Lock Cottage. My husband and I enjoyed the spacious master bedroom with private bath, our girls each had their own room and bathroom and their friends shared the fourth bedroom. The location on the river was spectacular as were the views. The house stayed cool in the summer heat, and we watched the World Cup on their large screen TV when the local pub was too crowded. The kitchen was updated and nicely furnished with cookware, utensils and dishes. The only signs of the house history were it’s slightly uneven floors that added to its charms. We would love to return with family and more friends for a longer stay!"

"We came to fig cottage on our first family holiday and were very pleased with our choice. The cottage is beautiful and has everything needed for a self catering holiday, including a few extras. It is set in absolutely beautiful grounds and is lovely and peaceful. The cottage is close to many of the tourist attractions. We reached most places within max 30 minutes. We were able to make some great family memories here with our baby daughter and will definitely return in the future. The gifts on arrival were so lovely too!"

"Gillian & Gavin made our holiday! They were ever so nice & so helpful regarding how to get to places easily! We arrived to milk in the fridge, a lovely bottle of red wine & biscuits. They supplied everything we could need even the TV papers which we’ve never had & any other property we’ve stayed @! The cottage is very comfortable & the bed so comfy you didn’t want to get up. We hope to return again if health permits as so peaceful & quiet. Just what the doctor orders! Thanks again for your kindness to us! Lynne"
