We absolutely loved every minute of our stay at Sycamore Cottage.
The property itself is immaculate, very clean and decorated to a good style with some quirky decorative pieces. There is one main route to the cottage on country lanes from the main road so it is easy to get to, although coming from the Ashbourne end the country lane is very narrow and was a little bit much for me so we always choose the other route past the farm shop, which only added about a minute to the journey and less stressful for me! The hot tub was great and the views were simply amazing, looking out over the Derbyshire Dales with some lovely sheep grazing in the field next door. Ellie, the owner, was brilliant. Very easy to communicate with and so helpful. We had one slight issue with the hot tub but she had it sorted for us straight away. The area is great for all ages. We stayed with our two children (5 and 7) and there was loads to do with them but we could have easily kept ourselves occupied with lots of small villages to explore and loads of walking routes. With the children we took them to Peak Wildlife Park and Splash Landings waterpark, both a little pricey but we spent the whole day there. We also spent the day in Ashbourne, and at Carsington Water, which was great. We went a little further afield and had a trip to the car museum (for the husband!) and another trip for the children at Conkers, which is an outside activity centre. We had hoped to get to Bakewell and Chatsworth House but just ran out of time! All in all, a brilliant week with a very comfortable cottage to come back to. We would happily return. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming cottage that truly exceeded my expectations.
From the moment we arrived, the picturesque surroundings approaching the cottage and the warm, inviting atmosphere of the cottage made it feel like a home away from home. The cottage itself is beautifully appointed, seamlessly blending traditional charm with modern comforts. The decor strikes a perfect balance between rustic elegance and practicality. The living room, with its cozy fireplace, invites you to curl up with a good book or enjoy a movie night after a day of hiking. The kitchen is well-equipped, making it easy to prepare meals with fresh, local ingredients from nearby markets. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable, adorned with soft linens and cozy throws. Waking up in such a serene environment was a luxury, and each morning felt like a refreshing retreat. The host was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. They had thoughtfully prepared a welcome basket filled with slippers for the hot tub and robes to wear, they also had treats for the dog in a jar with his name on it which was a delightful touch. The level of detail and care put into the stay truly made a difference. Overall, our experience at this beautiful cottage near the Peak District was nothing short of magical. Whether youâre looking to escape for a romantic getaway, or a solo retreat, this cottage has it all. I cannot recommend it highly enough â itâs a perfect blend of comfort, beauty, and adventure. We left feeling recharged and inspired, already planning our next visit!

Truly the best week away ever.
If youâre thinking of booking this place, DO IT! Jo, Ian and their daughter were lovely- anything we needed was provided. The cottage was extremely cosy and clean upon arrival. There were clear instructions for everything. I donât even know what to say as everything was 10/10 - the hot tub was amazing, the bed was comfy, our dog Kobe had the best week ever running around the enclosed garden. Kobe is a flight risk (heâs only 1 so his recall isnât the best) and I felt safe with him off lead in the garden. The facilities were excellent; the kitchen was great to cook in with all utensils and kit provided. The bathroom was lovely. We got to do our washing and drying while away (which is a BIG help for returning home and not having to do it here!!) The area is also fantastic as well- so lush and green, nice and remote, plenty of places to eat out, good walks, nature. We will be coming back next year. The owners are truly running a fabulous place, just amazing. Thank you again- Amy, Ryan and Kobe (Liverpool)

What a beautiful property in such a scenic location!
The owners were very accommodating and were very responsive to questions we had prior to our stay. They also kept us updated about wifi issues in the area during our visit which we really appreciated. Thank you so much for the welcome pack. It was such a lovely touch and our daughters loved their treats too! The cottage was well equipped (especially in the kitchen) but we would have appreciated a brush and pan to clean the floor. Overall the property was cleaned to a good standard however, there were a few little bits on the floor (particularly in kitchen, upstairs bathroom and dining room) which wasn't ideal for a crawling baby. We loved spending time in the garden and in the hot tub surrounded by the beautiful countryside. It was lovely seeing the sheep through the kitchen window! We also enjoyed relaxing by the wood burning stove in the evenings and playing the board games. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

When we arrived we had to clean the fridge out because there had been a spillage of milk over the bottom of the fridge that had dried and needed cleaning before we could place any of our items in the fridge.
The coffee was stale, the cottage needed a good dusting, there was a dirty rug at the back of the living room which we had no idea why, the main bathroom needs more ventilation and got so musty from condensation mould is growing in there, you couldnât open any windows around that area so when you went to sleep at night you felt you were breathing in damp, the bed is two single beds pushed together! The small toilet leaked, barely anything matched in the kitchen and all the mugs were dirty. There seems to be a problem with damp because thereâs moss growing on the outside of the building and when it was slightly wet on the brick driveway you really had to watch where you walked or you slipped over. No robes provided for the hot tub, we had to go and buy some during our stay. Good location and a great hot tub. Only met owner and he was pleasant and helpful. Wouldnât go back due to the damp issues mentioned.
