"One hour into stay sink trap came away, which was loosely screwed on with silicone, flooding the kitchen. Of the the two owners, the first one we spoke to was adamant, she could not get this fixed, as it was bank holiday weekend and impossible to get hold of a plumber. we should just put bucket under the sink, but did not explain hoe we should dispose of the waste water. Having inspected the trap i pulled up the rubber seal and re screwed it, lucky for us the procedure worked. If this was a bad start , it got worst. The hot water was a huge problem. The water hardly made it through the the shower head and you had to almost get up against the wall to get some water on ones body. What we learned was even wore, in the morning before 10am, the pressure was so low we hardly got any water, and certainly no water from the shower head. We then learned that you can get one bucket full of water and then wait another 10 min before you can get hot water again. If you happen to be in the shower and if the dish washer or some one else happens to turn the hot water tap you loose all pressure and are left waiting again for ages. at one time we boiled the in saucepans and completed our ablutions. The electric heater in the middle bedroom, difficult to work and at best worked for a very short time only. Forcing our elderly parents to move rooms. we also spoke to the seond owner and she, i felt, was much more empathetic and had some come over to look at the water pressure situation. thanks for that. Unfortunately, it was after 10am and off course, he only experienced the water flow for few min, certainly before the tank emptied. Great location, super views but the most important thing which we needed to work, water, didn't."

"We were pleasently surprised by how spacious and confortable the property was. There was plenty of room for us and our four children and the two large 3 seater leather sofas were ideal. There is a very large hot water tank meaning we could all shower without running out of water. There was some nice touches, like some puzzles and board games to keep the kids entertained, loads of tourist information and vacuum cleaners upstairs and down. Having the bedrooms downstairs meant they stayed cool. The property is situated a 2 minute walk from both the Bar & Resturant and the inside and outside swimming pools (free use of the pools and small gym is included).Honicombe Manor is a lovely quiet resort with varying sizes of holiday apartments on it and has some good views over the Tamar Vally. There is also a small shop on the site, which was useful. The site is well situated for visiting both Devon and Cornwall and we may well stay there again in the future"

"Unfortunately first impressions let this property down. The holiday park itself is in need of tlc and is a little run down. The swimming pools were a bonus. Valley lodge could be greatly improved with a bit of care to the outside - fixing the lodge number for starters. When venturing in we found a few left over wrappers, sweets in a cupboard and a flannel from previous occupants. However the crockery was all clean as were the beds and the bathrooms. I was disappointed there was no soap within the property and luckily I’d brought my own washing up liquid. The master bed was rock hard and had the noisiest springs which didn’t make for a restful night. There was also no information whatsoever within the property regarding the site; such as swimming pool openings, or about the property - bins etc. Overall we had a good holiday and enjoyed our stay but first impressions were underwhelming and could easily be improved."

"Very comfortable, clean and spacious lodge. Very quiet area. Decent sized kitchen which was filled with most items needed for self catering. (Apart from glasses, most were missing!) Having to go through the main bedroom to use the hot tub was a bit of an odd layout, but it didn't bother us personally. Lots of storage space for items. Nice balcony area leading from lounge. 2 sofas turned into sofa beds if needed, but twin bedrooms were more than adequate. Recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful time chilling, reading, chatting as not much to do unless you drive out. (Perfect for us) Mobile signal rubbish - no good for WiFi mad people! TV reception poor when weather was bad. And take at least a 4 way extension lead - lack of plug sockets in the main bedroom was a pain. Good showers. Also had iron and board, plus hairdryer. Highly recommended"

"The Lodge was in good shape generally - one or two small repairs required and some general maintenance. Well equipped and nicely clean. Good communication with the owner and general manager. Nice to have a running stream immediately outside. On the downside, the mattress on the double bed was of low quality and too hard. It was not a comfortable sleep and by the third night we were contemplating sleeping on the sofas. I have said 'yes' I would stay there again, but only if the mattress was replaced with a much improved version. The site was curious. It seemed to be a mixture of residential and holiday accommodation which dragged down the look. It all looked tired and in need of a good spruce up. The Lodge served our purpose for a short stay, and with a replaced double mattress we would return for other short trips that we need to make to that region."
