"Pine Lodge may well be suitable for dog owners, but if doggy smells aren't your thing then I wouldn't recommend booking the Lodge. The dog smell in the living area was very strong, and the sofa in particular smelt so strongly of dog that we were unable to use it as we found that the smell transferred to our clothes. Some of the windows have no blind or curtain. This includes the shower room window and the kitchen window. Our kitchen window looked out onto the shower room window of the next door Lodge and when the occupants used the room with light on it left very little to the imagination! I would recommend careful thought about how the shower room is used after dark.Apart from that - the Lodge is starting to look a bit tired, and the contents are very much in a "used" condition. For example, the chopping boards are ingrained with dirt, one of the mugs supplied was chipped, and the shower head is partially blocked with limescale. The fittings are also showing signs of a long life - the kitchen flooring is discoloured through use and there were at least two stains (dog wee?) on the carpets.Having said that, the Lodge had been cleaned well and the bedroom, bed, sheets, etc were all clean and fresh. We found the bed to be very comfortable. The site is just off a main road but is very quiet. If you like interaction with the owners - this Lodge would disappoint. The only interaction we had was via text message, although written instructions were provided about where to find the owners if needed. Unlike other cottages we have stayed in, there was no welcome hamper.Leaflets about the locality are in the coffee table drawer - but don't expect them to be up-to-date. Most of them are more than a year old.Well located for travelling into York and further afield."

"disappointing to say the least, the lodge has a guest book for your comments clearly this is just a PR exercise and achieves nothing for the next guests comfort as none of the comments were acted on.Once we had arrived it soon became clear that there was little privacy to the lodge at all, the shower room has no blind this means that the window directly above the toilet and at such a level that it leaves nothing to the imagination, my wife looked in horror as the lady in the next lodge was taking a shower once again nothing was left to the imagination as there were no blind to that shower window either, this just left you to think that none of the lodges has shower room blind to the window. The kitchen window above the sink once again there was no blind up to the window this looked across to the entrance door of the neighboring lodge, this is where the wife was at when she saw the lady taking a shower, this comment about privacy was mentioned in more than one entry in the guest comments book, clearly no one is bothered as nothing has been done, whilst still on the subject of the shower room it would have been a nice touch to have supplied a shower cap for the ladies.I suppose the question would be would I stay here again the answer straight away would be NO I would not stay again, however, if the comments were addressed then I would probably say that yes I would stay again.the request to share your best photo of you enjoying the lodge, unfortunately, we do not any due to the comments above we cant say that we enjoyed it.None of our comments has any reflection on the staff who we found to be very pleasant warm and friendly, she was the reason that we stayed had she had been any different we would have left.A very disappointed guest."

"…where to begin with a stay and an experience which just seamlessly worked so well. Yes, the weather God’s also smiled on us such that the latter part of Sunday afternoon was spent by most of us sitting out in the deck chairs facing the setting sun..it was an incredible week-end weather wise and we really could not speak highly enough of the whole experience. The house works on so many levels and we were formerly resident in the Far East and have already mentioned it (Heatherside House) to that many people that hopefully some bookings from over there might materialize in the future! We were very appreciative of your patience with our booking and how accommodating you were. I honestly looked at the Croquet Lawn when we visited the property and thought, ‘well that will be too wet or damp and will not get any use’…oh how wrong I was! The ladies who cooked were great, the food very good indeed and really this is, as I am aware you already know, a very special venue..we all had the best week-end possible, with the laser clays also being a lot of fun. Whilst we were blessed with one of the best week-end's weather for summer, let alone that is was autumn, our three days at Heatherside House were quite simply brilliant. Every aspect of our stay from the venue itself to the in house caterers and including the arranged activity of laser clay's worked perfectly. Heatherside House is simply an outstanding venue for all ages to enjoy each other's company for a few days and to celebrate any special event. Edwards Group"

"Just a quick note to say how much we all enjoyed our stay at Ropewalk Cottage. The views were wonderful and we managed some great walks nearby on the Heart of England way (although we didn't look quite as professional as most!). The rooms were extremely comfortable, very clean and the house well equipped. Perfect size for our extended family. We loved the nespresso machine and the dishwasher:-)) The one thing we felt was missing was a broom - (as my sisters kids left a lot of toast crumbs!). and we weren't sure about how to recycle plastics? Otherwise it was great! I'm sure the garden and BBQ will get more use in the summer - but I enjoyed one sunny morning having breakfast there until the clouds re-appeared. We managed to find some local NT properties - Snowshill Manor is just up the road about 4 miles away and is completely unique - well worth a visit, and especially if you like Samurai armour! Broadway Tower was also great - the views reminded me of Tara..and a very nice lunch to be had in the coffee shop there too. We managed to get over to Burford where my sister and family had a fab day out at the zoo - highly recommended and kept the kids happy. Personally, I was happy perusing the shops and drinking coffee and eating cake in Huffkins:-)"

"I searched far and wide to find the perfect place to celebrate my wife's fortieth and I'm so pleased that I chose Ropewalk Cottage. It was a gem surrounded by the beautiful crown of the Cotswolds. The owners have taken great care to provide all you could need inside the cottage: from the Nespresso machine to the lovely decoration of the bedrooms and bathrooms, there was no detail overlooked. As a the centre of the holiday celebrations, we were also able to welcome friends and family to stay. Everybody who walked into the door was wowed by the luxury and felt, as we did, perfectly at home. Stephanie and Oliver - the owners - took great care of all of our needs whilst we stayed. They provided a bottle of champagne to start the holiday, which was a wonderful way to begin. From there the cottage was a base for us to explore lots of the beautiful villages that are the essence of the Cotswolds and were so wonderfully charming. I strongly recommend Ropewalk Cottage and have every intention of returning."
