We were not happy with the communications we received from your company, we felt they were bullying. So many times we were told not to check in before 4pm. So many times we were told not to check out after 10am, or else we could face a fine. We had no intention of checking in before 4pm, or out after 10am, but the messages kept coming. You must adjust the tone of your letters when advising customers, we continually felt told off for something we had no intention of doing. You made it very clear that towels and bedding MUST be placed in the 2 bags provided before departure. We had no such bags, and we searched high and low for them. On arrival we were greeted by smelly wet dirty towels inside the shower. We have photographic evidence. We washed these as they were so smelly, we didn't even want to touch them to be honest. We advised the owner of our actions. So please, before lecturing us on arrival times, what we must and must not do with laundry at the end of our stay etc etc, please get your own house in order. We do not intend to use your company again. We have had many many cottage holidays but never felt this level of intimidation before or been treated like naughty children. It was not a good start to our holiday.

The good: - Great location for Malham and the Pennine Way - Lots of space in living areas and two of the bedrooms - Clean The bad: - Lacking some basics (scissors in the kitchen; saucepans big enough to cook basics for 4) - Very small and compromised bathrooms - In poor state of repair in places (large glass shower door held on with silicone, and fell off; bad smell from drains; TVs in bedrooms not working) - Layout of outdoor space leads to a total lack of privacy in garden (which is shared with the neighbouring cottage). For example, the Hot Tub is placed just a few feet from the one belonging to the neighbouring cottage, meaning no privacy if the neighbours use theirs at the same time. (Especially so if you have neighbours who spend their time smoking, drinking, swearing, shouting and arguing in the hot tub!) We eventually cut our stay short and came home a day early. The owner did offer a partial refund, reflecting some of these issues, but this has never materialised and he has since stopped answering messages asking him to honour his promises.

? My wife and I really needed a quiet break for a couple of days after a very bumpy 3 months. Deer View provided the perfect place for us to spend some `us` time and chill out. Susan was the perfect host to us and on arrival showed us round. She was meticulous in her planning and management of her holiday let, right down to a big binder full of lots of places to go and things to do, her gift of her simply awesome fruit cake, to her cleaning regime, with the place truly spotless. All of the furnishings and utensils are brand new and are of quality, and not cheap rubbish as some do, showing respect for her guests. This part of England we are not too familiar with, is just beautiful and so quiet and peaceful, so ticked all of the boxes Our 3 nights and 2 days seemed to pass too quickly, but we would love to return.. Location was beautiful, with great views and lots of local walks. It is remote, so a car is required for days out, and the local roads are often single track with passing places. The accommodation was a bit cramped for five adults. Three bath / shower rooms have been squeezed in, but the layouts are poor. One shower room is tiny, and to get to the basin in the main bathroom you have to squeeze through a gap between the bath and the toilet. Small changes would make a difference such as bins and mirrors in each of the bedrooms. Kitchen was well equipped, but we did have issues with the microwave (blew up and had to be replaced!) and the electricity tripping and being unable to find the fuse box. We added a note to the info folder for future holiday makers.

My husband and I were visiting family in the area and Deer View was a convenient location.
Richard and Susan were very welcoming on our arrival and easily contactable by phone during our stay, if required. The property was spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped, with lovely touches throughout and plenty of storage. The open plan nature of the property and the fact that it was all on one level were ideal. My husband has dementia and likes to know where I am at all times as well has having some mobility issues. There are 2 small steps from the parking area up to the property but the handrail made them easy to manage. The hot tub was a lovely way to relax after playing with the grandchildren, and seeing the deer in the morning whilst having breakfast was a treat. We hope to return soon.
