"I think my friends and I were blown away by the amazing cottage and gardens. The interior was simply fab and so very modern especially in the kitchen and bathrooms. If I could give this cottage 10 stars, I would. It was so clean and the beds were extremely comfortable with good quality bed linen and pillows. I usually take my own pillows when I go away but left mine in the car as the ones provided were fine. I know it's a little point but I have been to so many hotels and guest houses were you wouldn't even want the pillows in the bedroom, never mind laying your head on them. The bathrooms had everything you could possibly need and were spotless. We all decided to take it in turns to cook for the 3 days we were there and it was a pleasure to do so in such a well equipped kitchen. On arrival the owners had left us a fresh cake and a couple of bottles of wine. There was also the essentials such as cooking oil, sugar, foil, cling film etc etc. Nice little touches. The gardens were immaculate and there was plenty of room to eat al fresco, with tables and chairs already outside. The driveway was ample and took our 3 large cars very well. There is absolutely nothing to criticise about lea hay at all. We met the owners who were lovely and they asked if there was anything they could do to improve the cottage. We all agreed it was perfect. Thank you so much to carol and joey (carol's daughter) for the obvious hard work they have put into creating such a wonderful home for people like us who wanted a very relaxing break in an wonderful environment. Best wishes from us all, bill, carol, nigel, dee, paul and diana."

"I have just returned from a week in the Peak District and cannot rate Leahay highly enough. I didn't want to leave. The accommodation is beautiful and it really felt like a home from home. I feel very lucky to have found this little gem. Communication with the owner was great and we (1 couple and 2 single adults) arrived to a lovely welcome of cake and wine and treats for the dogs (we had 2 little ones). There are 2 bedrooms on the ground floor with 1 shared bathroom - huge shower and free standing bath and a further 2 bedrooms on the first floor each with their own shower room. A fully equipped kitchen (probably better kitted out than my own home) a dining room with table and chairs and a lounge with tv, dvd player and stereo. There were table and chairs on the lawn and at the gravel area at the side of the house. The whole house was immaculate and furnished to a very high standard - beautiful! Beds comfy and plenty of towels provided. I would recommend staying here for all the comforts of home in an excellent location. We ate in the Miners Standard - a lovely country pub - 3 nights. This is a short drive from the cottage or a walk across fields/footpaths if you fancy it. Excellent food - great portions and reasonably priced. We were a short distance from Bakewell and Matlock - both having plenty of shops and food places, I would recommend a visit to the Heights of Abraham - fab day out. All in all a perfect holiday in a perfect house - please can I come again? Clo"

"The people at Sykes who I spoke to on the phone were helpful and efficient and made the booking, for a group of friends with different needs, very straightforward. The property itself exceeded expectations, it was newly redecorated and fresh and bright and pretty. All the rooms were very airy and spacious including large light bedrooms with fabulous big comfortable beds and hotel quality bed linen. Good bath and shower rooms and it was nice to have three bathrooms to four rooms. The large attractive kitchen was also extremely well equipped with everything we needed (and we did cook an evening meal plus large breakfasts) and a huge range cooker that made cooking numerous things at the same time very easy. Would definitely go back. Pleasant open garden with furniture for the summer months, views over the cricket field. Only thing to mention is that Elton is a pretty little village but with very few facilities and a pub that's not really open so if you were counting on having a bit more nearby, Winster is the nearest big village (we walked to the pub in Winster on the Satrday night)."

"The cottage is perfectly placed for walking in the peak district or just somewhere to relax and chill out. It is a warm cosy house in which a lot of thought has been given to ensure everything you need to cook and dine has been provided. The bedrooms and beds are excellent downstairs is a joy to reside in warm and cosy but with lots of room. Elton itself is very quiet and peaceful however the real ale pub 300 yards away is quaint and very friendly. The next village Winster, is only approx 2 x miles away and has a well stocked shop and three pubs serving food. The bowling inn pub is excellent we dined there a couple of times and the food was really good with varied choices. We had a lovely 1st time long weekend at the cottage and will come again. P.S. Parking is available alongside the building but if you have a large car of are a bit nervous reversing back lane has parking spaces 50 yards around the corner."

"E no tin opener teapot large bowlsPosition was wonderful for exploring the Peak District, a lovely village with shop and pub. No problem parking. The only negatives are the shower, which had no power whatsoever, and the lack of kitchen equipment such as baking tray and grater. I also think that it is worth noting that the stairs to the top bedroom are via a door from the main bedroom, this although ok for families may cause difficulties if two couples. It is perfect for visits to Bakewell, Matlock and Chatsworth we had our bikes with us and had a day on the Monsal Trail. It is right on the Main Street through the village so can be noisy first thing in the morning and late at night. Handy village shop just over the road. The cottage was clean & warm and has a nice open fireplace. Having the village shop across the road was very handy. We really enjoyed our stay and would return again."
