"I seldom review holiday accommodation, however I feel impelled to do so with S14792 for several reasons. I include both positive and negative points in my review. Overall, I feel S14792 is over-priced for what is offered and that the emphasis on comfort is somewhat overplayed, and I do not deem it to be 'romantic' as advertised in some locations online. For this price range, I expect more in terms of the decor, the quality of the fixtures and fittings, as well as a more effective heating system and the presence of a small welcome such as a pint of local milk or loaf of local bread. The wood burner is simply not enough to heat both the main room and the water during winter. I would also illustrate that I am happy to put on layers and heat my own home in an environmentally conscious way, but given the price and that I was on a much-needed break, a more effective or indeed efficient heating system should be present. I hold the view that being environmentally friendly need not compromise ones comfort, but at S14792 this is the case. At this price point, I would simply not recommend this accommodation to friends or family, as you will have a more comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable stay elsewhere. Positive points include that the property is less than an hours drive from Newcastle upon Tyne, there is a co-op supermarket within walking distance and a good local pub which serves a very good Sunday lunch. Up to two dogs are allowed in the accommodation and the owner can provide additional sheets or blankets for furniture. Furthermore, the owners of the property are knowledgeable about the local area."

"We have just stayed at S37795 for 10 days and could quite happily have extended our holiday. The kitchen, although small, is well kitted out including a washing machine and full sized fridge freezer plus all utensils. The bed was super comfy, plus bedroom had full length mirror and a good amount of hangers in the wardrobe, which is fab. The lounge was quite cosy with lots of lovely finishing touches and a nice little conservatory all gave a homely feel. Our only gripe was the parking! Although it states that there is designated parking for the cottage in the description, this is mostly taken up by customers going to the pub right opposite, or customers parking right outside the kitchen window, which felt quite intrusive. But we would definitely stay here again, as this is not a major issue, but I feel it should be mentioned. As I say, we would absolutely stay at S37795 again and definitely recommend it"

"Brilliant cottage and location for touring and walking in Hamsterly forest. The owners very friendly and helpful about where to visit and walking places. Dog friendly and plenty of room to run the dog, also once the gate was closed then it was a secure place for you pet and if cycling safe left outside. The welcome pack superb. the entrance through to the ample parking is quite narrow so if travelling in a larger vehicle could be tricky, but plenty of public parking on club car park next door for free. No noise from there and they welcome visitors and dogs as do the cross keys pub in village. The food there is great despite some negative reviews. Can't understand their problems, but I suppose you can't please everyone. Everything taken into consideration we had a wonderful time and would recommend the cottage to friends and family. Many thanks to the owners for a lovely short break."

"A perfect holiday cottage in a fabulous location, stunning views in both directions. There was a welcome pack of bread, chocolates, biscuits and wine on arrival, with fresh flowers in the kitchen. The cottage's decoration is exactly right - clean and fresh while absolutely in keeping with the age of the cottage. Lots of characterful touches too such as the lamps on the bedside tables, comfy cushions and throws to make the place really snug. Great weather so we didn't need the log burner but am sure it would be really cosy in colder weather too. Ample parking for us at the front and a lovely secure sun-trap garden at the back. Sharon and James have thought of everything to make it the ideal base for exploring Weardale."

"Stayed at White Nettle on probably the coldest week of 2018 and found cottage to be cosy and comfortable even with the original stone flagged floor found in these 100+year old homes. Excellently equipped with everything you need, even a coffee machine. Sharon and James welcomed us with an excellent starting package of home made bread, courtesy of James recently baking classes, home made scrumptious ginger cookies, milk and last but not least a bottle of wine. A lovely touch to start off our holiday. Yes, we would return and yes, we would thoroughly recommend the cottage. We wish Sharon and James all the best and hope their new venture is successful."
