" ...Kizzie dog(15) - we found Chisel Barn lived up to the description and was even better than the photos when we arrived. The location was perfect, only 5 miles from Blandford Forum and yet surrounded by beautiful countryside, rolling hills, fields with sheep and horses and calves in the barns opposite our holiday home from home. The barn was very spacious and had every possible comfort, we were enjoying a well earned break and visiting family in the area and found the barn ideal to invite Aunties, Uncles and cousins to join us for a catch-up. We were surprised and delighted to find a welcome pack including all the essentials plus a lovely vase full of fresh daffodils :) We did have a couple of queries and phoned the owners who popped round within a few minutes and were extremely pleasant and helpful. We would recommend Chisel Barn to anyone and will definitely be returning in the future. Submitted by Alison on 05/04/2014 "

"The property itself was excellent, but when we arrived we saw that the garden was not enclosed and our dog could've got out onto a road, albeit a quiet one and the garden was shared by another cottage let. This meant our dig had to be staked at all times in the garden. Also a laminated sign that was in the cottage made it clear that, whilst dogs were permitted, they should be on a lead at all times (despite the brochure saying that there was an orchard for the dog to use). This, I felt was not "dog friendly". As it was, the weather was quite poor so we stayed inside most of the time we were at the cottage, otherwise this would have been a massive downer on the trip. Had we known these facts, we would have booked a different place. (Previous property we visited was uber dog friendly) S44643 itself was beautiful, everything as cosy and romantic as advertised, just the dog issue let it down for us."

"Generally good and a lovely lady looking after the house - her homegrown watercress was a special treat. I do think the cleaning could have been more thorough - e.g. a lot of dust came out of the pillows when I plumped them and I felt the need to hot wash the towels and re wash the pillow cases before using them as they were a little bit smelly - laundered but not fresh. The cottage was otherwise acceptably. i didn't tell the lady as she was so nice and I didn't want to hurt her feelings. The location and views were amazing, except when the neighbours' children played outside my door - and the only view out and main light into the cottage - leaving me with the choice of my privacy - or natural light. Great parking."

"The cottage was absolutely perfect, in a really fantastic rural location with one other rentable cottage next to it but it was empty when we were there so had the place to ourselves. Lovely owners who couldn't do more and had equipped the cottage to the highest standard. You actually don't need to take anything for the first days breakfast etc. Greeted with homemade cake and bread, wine, chocs, cheese, milk etc. Homemade muesli too. Great walking, perfect with a dog. Easy access to coast or town. There are low beams upstairs so be careful. Even knowing they are there we did thump our heads a couple of time! Everything we needed and more, even a towel for the dog! A beautiful place worth visiting...."
