Guests say

Longlands Groom's Quarters is a charming cottage in Cumbria, appreciated for its warm and cosy atmosphere, beautiful grounds, and tranquil setting. Guests enjoy the proximity to local attractions and the pet-friendly environment. While some find the cottage and its furnishings to have character, others suggest it could benefit from updates and more thorough cleaning.

Reviews on cleanliness are mixed, with several guests finding the cottage cosy and clean, while others report issues with smells, dirt, and a need for more thorough cleaning. The presence of both positive and negative comments leads to a slightly above average score.

The location is highly praised for its stunning scenery, proximity to Cartmel, and access to local walks and the Lake District. The peaceful and picturesque setting contributes to a high score, despite minor concerns about road safety for pedestrians.

Guests generally find the cottage comfortable, with a warm atmosphere and a large bed. However, some guests mention uncomfortable furniture and a need for more comfortable seating, leading to a score that reflects overall satisfaction with room for improvement.

The facilities receive mixed reviews, with guests appreciating the shared laundry and walled garden, but noting issues with maintenance and outdated items. The need for upgrades and replacements in certain areas affects the score, indicating adequate but not exceptional facilities.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

Clean and well equipped. Thank you for a relaxing week.

The place is damp with a smell, possible mold spoures and old cooking fat smells. Couldn't and didn't want to sit on the furniture for the damp feeling and smells. Never have I been in a place like that. Stayed one night only because we had nowhere else to go. Booked another place for the rest of the week. Asking for a refund. Told the owner and explained the issu. The property is still for letting. Not good for your health staying there. Putting review on now as I have had no reply or goodwill gesture for a refund of some kind. We stayed bank holiday August 2025. Shocking!

The bedroom is a generous size and the bed is big and comfortable. The interior is pretty basic - low level oven, very small screen TV, no USB port / socket and basic bathroom facilities (though the shower is lovely!). Extremely grateful to the housekeeper as the only person who worked out that the clock has to be set on the oven in order for the oven to operate. A pity we learned that only after having not been able to use it on our first evening. Even though Cartmel is only a half mile or so away, the road is not a safe thoroughfare for walkers. No-one's fault, just a fact! All in all, would certainly recommend.
