"What a gem! Myself and my partner stayed here during the first week of October 2018. We were going through the stressful process of buying a house at the time and this was a much welcomed break. The location is fantastic; easy to find and just up the road from Melbourne village in Derby. The cottage is about half a mile along a gravel path from the main property and is perfectly secluded to give you the feeling of being completely alone. Highly recommended for anyone looking for some peace and tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.Stunning fields surround the cottage and a line of trees accent the side of the cottage where the hot tub sits. The hot tub was a definite highlight and we used this everyday of the holiday; sometimes it was during the day where we could watch rabbits and pheasants across the fields, other times it was in the evening so we could enjoy the stars. The cottage itself is gorgeous and has been furnished by someone with a keen eye for style. It is definitely not style over substance though as things like the heated bathroom floor and adjustable lighting were well thought out and all furniture is of a high quality. The bed in the master room was very comfy and I loved the quirky inclusion of a toilet and shower in the master bedroom too.The location of the accommodation means you have easy access to plenty of things to do. The highlights for us were when we visited Calke Abbey and a fascinating little hollowed-out cave called Anchor Church. All in all we had a fantastic time and we can't wait to come back! It truly is a little slice of heaven and we have recommended this to many of our friends looking for a break from their busy lives.Thank you!"

"We had a lovely stay at the S70337. Unfortunately the weather was awful but it didn’t stop us enjoying ourselves. The hot tub was lovely and the cottage and grounds are fab. We only had one criticism and that would be the two German shepherd dogs that get walked on the grounds every morning. The dogs every morning came right up to the house and poo’d in the garden every day and the owner never once picked it up so we were having to. Plus these dogs were quite intimidating when you had to walk past them. We have a cockapoo and she loved the land. We were also in the hot tub and a brown Labrador came running over from another field and decided to poo right by the hot tub. His also we had to clean up. I felt the cottage could have benefited from a thorough clean as the tv cabinet was covered in dust and other areas too but it didn’t take away from how lovely the cottage was. Perhaps new towels would be nice as some of them were heavily stained. We found the cottage had all the essentials including dishwasher tablets, tea, coffee and the welcome bottle of wine was a lovely touch. We would definitely recommend the S70337 and will be looking to re book soon. Helpfully with better weather!"

"Where do I start, I booked this house to meet up with my 4 uni friends, their partners and children. We had a fantastic time. As soon as you enter, the drive up to the house is very impressive and the pictures do not do it justice. The house was massive, plenty of space that you did not feel you were in each other’s way/space. Plenty of seating around the dining table so we could all eat together and plenty of seating in the lounge so the adults could have a drink together while the children were in bed. Kitchen was a great size and well equipped for big groups. The games room was outstanding and such a luxury to have - the men definitely had fun in there playing on the pool table, snooker table, table tennis table and darts board. Because we had children we drove to Markeaton Park on the Saturday which was only 20/25mins away. We found the location perfect, nice and quiet but only a little drive away from shops, pubs and parks. We loved this place that much that we are booking again for next year."

"We enjoyed our stay at Forest View. The décor is very well thought out and the cottage was spotlessly clean with good quality fixtures and fittings. We enjoyed watching the planes fly over on the approach to the airport, although may disrupt sleep during hot weather as windows have to be left open and no fan. There are a few things that would have made our stay more comfortable:A blind at the en-suite window is a must.Ditto the lounge bi-folding windows need blinds to provide privacy and help shield the room during hot sunny days.More hangers, or ideally a wardrobe or hanging rail in each room.Shelves and hooks in the shower room to put toiletries and hang clothes on – we had to move a table in from the lounge. The website mentions patio and ipod dock but these were not present.Instructions for hobb, coffee-maker, recycling etc would be helpful."

"This was for a few days near Derby before my daughter's wedding in the city, for a three-generation family group. We used the ground floor bedroom and bathroom, whilst my partner's daughter and her husband used the inter-connecting bedrooms upstairs for themselves and the children. The lounge and kitchen are open-plan, and also upstairs. The cottage itself is at the end of a lane in a very rural area, but with shops, pubs*, etc only a few miles away. So the setting is very quiet, except for the beautiful peacocks/hens which roam the garden and sometimes stare into ground floor windows! As would be expected in an old building, there are many steps of varying heights to get used to, and in some places slightly sloping floors - but generally this adds to the charm.*The Cow at Dalbury Lees (a couple of miles away) is recommended."
