"Comfortable cottage with a very friendly and helpful owner. There is a good level of equipment. The cottage is really quite hard to find as there are no signs whatsoever on the road to indicate where the Stables are to be found, nor even which is the farm where it is placed. When one does happen on the right property by trial and error, there are no signs or indications of any kind to show which build is the Stables. I txted the owner in advance and we also rang the numbers provided but the owner did not reply to let us have arrangements for arrival so we had to just leave a message suggesting an arrival time and hope she would be there, which she was. No claim whatsoever is made that the cottage is in a scenic location but prospective renters should be aware that it is in a stable yard surrounded by farm buildings which are all that can be seen from the windows. I was warned when booking the the advertised wifi might not be wholly reliable but I mistakenly took this just to be a matter of the renters covering themselves. In fact, I was never at any time able to access wifi from the house and had to go into the yard to get a signal. When booking, please be aware that the smoke detector on the landing goes on every time you have a shower, necessitating standing on a chair at the head of the stairs to switch it off. The cottage is very well placed for visiting attractive local market town and the many historical sites in the area."

"We stayed at Anne's Cottage in at the end of March 2016 and it was the first time we had rented a cottage. I we will be doing it again. However, any other cottage is going to have a lot to live up to. The way Anne's Cottage has been decorated and furnished is so lovely. The well equipped kitchen is great. We have all thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the cottage, reading and taking in the fabulous views. The bed in the bedroom was very comfortable and our teenage daughter said that the sofa bed in the lounge was comfortable too. The log burner is perfect for those colder nights and really warms up the place. This is a great place to use to visit the area. We've wandered through Monmouth, had a trip to Cardiff, visited Abergavenny and Caerphilly, as well as done some walks from the cottage. The cottage has a number of books/leaflets which shown different walking routes as well as other local places to visit. We had a meal at the Inn at Penault which was very nice. One thing to note is that phone signal is poor. This wasn't a problem for us as it was nice to not be on the phones constantly, although if affected our teenage daughter. We have already recommended this cottage to family and friends and wouldn't hesitate in coming back if we were to visit this area again."

"We have just returned from our short break at C17th Castle, and would like you to know how very much we enjoyed it. We had the castle all to ourselves and explored every turret! The master suite had wonderful views of the sea and surrounding countryside, and yes, we could see Wales too. The only company we had were two Easter bunnies munching their way through the grass outside, although we understand deer make an appearance from time to time. The castle was pleasantly furnished in a faded elegant way and the chandeliers were splendid. There was a high standard of cleanliness. The sheets were white and fresh and there was an abundance of towels for bath and pool. The pool was a good size and temperature and we made good use of it. It was possible to walk along the sea side which was accessed by a path to the left of the nearby golf club. We would recommend taking walking boots and trainers for rain/sun walking. Three major supermarkets are within a ten minute drive of the castle. We would like to make special mention of Neil who made our stay so relaxing. Last but not least we would like to thank you for this wonderful prize and your generosity in giving it. Our very best wishes to you all"

"Hi we had a very chilled out few days at this lovely homely quiet secluded cottage . We were lucky to have great weather so spent most of the time out in the lovely garden. Our dog loved exploring in it. The views were fantastic loved to watch the boats going by. Loved all the extras that were left for us tea coffee milk biscuits everything had been thought off. We didn't find the access a problem to the cottage it was only a few steps down the slope but can imagine it would be slippy in the winter. Maybe a rail to hold on too as you go down. Walked both ways along the coastal path . Found a lovely bay called ladye bay you could walk too and it would probably take 40 minutes but was too hot for our dog so we drove there each day plenty of parking too and very dog friendly. The owners were very helpful and e.mailed us the easiest route to get there and we found it very easy. Plenty of shops to choose from . We went to Tesco and Aldi. Thank you for a great holiday and we hope to come back soon Mandy and Andy and Max"

"The cottage was lovely had brilliant views but the trek to the cottage was horrendous, due to the path from the car park to another car park, this was uneven no lighting at night and when wet was very slippy. the walk then to the cottage from the second car park was well lit until you got to the gate leading to the cottage, there was another incline and three steps to negotiate so by the time you arrived you had to rest. It was stipulated that it was not suitable for the disabled but disability comes in many forms and therefore the write up on this cottage should state not suitable for people with heart problems or breathing issues. There is no handrail on the first path and with the uneven walkway would think this would be an Health and Safety issue."
