To get here, drive itself is famous. The winding coastal road offers breathtaking views and is one of the highest roads in the UK. Once on the peninsula, the village is simply referred to as ‘the street’ and is indicative of its size. You won’t find lots of restaurants and shops here but that is part of the joy. Wild and largely untouched, this Scottish gem offers plenty to explore and peace and quiet to relax.

"Tigh an Lasgair is a superb place to stay if you want complete solitude. There are neighbours but you can't see them from the house. The house is big enough to sleep 6 people very comfortably, with 3 double bedrooms (1 with twin beds) and 2 shower rooms (1 with a bath). Very well equiped. Very warm and cosy with underfloor heating and woodburner, though we found this was not needed even in March. Beautiful views. Some fab beaches nearby. Nearest pub/restaurant/shop about 10 miles away in Sheildaig. The food at the Coastal Kitchen was fab. Applecross Inn about 14 miles. Good seafood there but I wouldn't recommend it for vegetarians. The dish I had was terrible. Make sure you take plenty of basic food with you. If you are a nervous driver I would say be very sure before you book because the roads to the house are not for the faint hearted. The owners were really helpful too."

"Fabulous cottage in a beautiful location. Will definitely return to Applecross area without a doubt. However, certain parts of the cottage could do with a deep clean e.g. the fridge, cooker and living room carpet. As we rented in winter and the water supply comes from the loch, we were told on the day we arrived that the pipes would freeze in cold weather and we could be without water. We had a 4 month old baby with us and although this wouldn't have stopped me coming, had I been informed beforehand I would have ensured I took bottled water to make baby formula if the water did stop. The upstairs bathroom wasn't working also because of the frozen pipes and so 4 adults had to share one bathroom and due to the loch filled tank, you must leave 15mins between each shower. This wouldn't have stopped me going here, but would have been nice information to have before hand."

"We have been holidaying on the Applecross peninsular for the last 25 years. All the accomodations were excellent but S24279 is very special. The views are spectacular and the comfort and ambience excellent. We had cause to be thankful as one of the party sustained a head injury on the first day on the beach and had to be Medicoptered to the Raigmore in Inverness and spent 3 days there under observation and treatment. The rest of the holiday was spent at Sanctuary recovering. We must commend the police, the Medicopter and Ambulance team, the local doctor, and all the staff at the Raigmore for their expertise, kindness and generosity. The younger members of the party made up by climbing Beinn Eigh, kayaking to the Crowlins, and doing some of the more difficult walks. Some of us managed the odd pilgrimage to the various watering holes and hostelries. Thank you."

"This was a lovely cottage with an amazing view. The standard was exceptionally high, the crockery and utensils in the kitchen were excellent. I cooked meals a few times and did not want for anything. The beds were comfy, good bed linen and towels. The owners very kindly left a welcome pack plus provided everything for the dishwasher and washing machine. The cottage is quite isolated which is perfect for us. In a great location for Shieldaig and Applecross. Really close to Torridon. A stunning part of the country. The water is from a local source and is brown. It tastes fine but I bought bottled water for the kettle. Not sure if I had to! I would definitely return, my thanks to the owners for letting us stay in their wonderful cottage."

"This was an excellent property. Clean, well equipped and in a beautiful location. Perhaps the beds were too small, (I am 6'2'') but you can't please everyone. One of the great joys was there was no internet or mobile connection-bliss.I probably won't come and stay again because, although I live in Scotland, I still have much more to explore. However I will give it a strong recommendation to anyone wishing to holiday in the Torridon area.I have rated local amenities low, we bought all we needed however anyone not familiar with local amenities in the North West of Scotland would be caught out. It may be worth mentioning the lack of amenities in the holiday blurb."
