"We stayed at St. John’s cottage this week and it was a fantastic cottage a real gem we really appreciated the wine and cake which was waiting for us on our arrival thank you Caroline this cottage is really a like from home to home with great high end touches this cottage has a fantastic landscaped garden the only thing is it’s very steep but fine if you are careful, which Caroline does warn you of Caroline you should be very proud of this cottage, I did find myself having to water it to make sure it never spoilt I will be definitely recommend it for anyone I know who wishes to stay in the area . Caroline I would love to know where you purchased the tall smart Fox candle holders in the living room as they were a fantastic as they would look fantastic in our living room too ?? if anyone is thinking of going to the ate and would like a 5 cottage then this is the one thank you again Caroline"

"It’s a perfect holiday cottage, very clean and very comfortable however the swimming pool, as advertised is vague at best and misleading at worst. Once booked we received an email on behalf of the owner to say that we would be allowed to use the pool for one hour per day at a time given to us by the owner, if we wanted to use the pool beyond that we can, but at £30 per hour. Essentially the pool is a business, not part of the cottage and is in use by ‘clubs’ until 730pm every day. We were told the £30 per hour is to dissuade guests from ‘over use’ Had this been advertised by Sykes properly we would not have booked this cottage. Also the cottage is South Yorkshire, not Peak District & Derbyshire Dales, at least an hours drive to most Peak District attractions."

"The cottage is in an excellent tucked-away location. It was easy to find though thanks to the directions provided. The owner was pleasant and helpful to deal with. The cottage itself was attractive and had everything needed although it would be very cramped for 4 adults. It was OK if snug for two of us. There is quite a lot of ornaments etc decorating the cottage, minimalists may be tempted to remove some of it! Parking is spacious and safe. The wifi worked well. There is no dishwasher however there is convenient access to washer / dryer /freezer in an area shared with the owner. The garden and patio area was comfortable and great in the sunshine. There is an excellent view of the distant hill with a stone tower at the top."

"Spent a lovely week in the S70533. Very clean, cosy, and very comfortable. Well equipped, everything in cottage that you need for an enjoyable stay. Home from Home! Plenty of leaflets/literature for the surrounding area, and an abundance of DVD's in case of bad weather or if you prefer a cosy night in. There is also a delightful garden area across the path to the front of the cottage, ideal in nice weather for a spot of relaxation. On leaving the cottage Bob (the owner) noticed I left my fleece behind. He is very kindly going to post this to me. 'All part of the service' he said. Overall a lovely holiday in a lovely cottage."

"We enjoyed a romantic couple of nights stay here for my birthday. The cottage is tucked away in a hamlet of about six or seven dwellings. It is beautifully presented and blends traditional cozy comfort with contemporary interior design & gadgets. We both run and this cottage has a network of footpaths right on its doorstep. There's a really good riding school nearby too which does daily hacks. Quality pubs & restaurants are only a short drive away. Local taxi services are good. The owners live next door but they didn't intrude. We certainly felt like we had plenty of peace & privacy. Will definitely stay again. Perfect."
