What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Grindley - Verified booking

After several emails and phone calls to your company throughout the week regarding our dissatisfactory stay at The Pines, I am emailing to make a formal complaint with the issues we experienced and the lack of resolution. I would like to mention that the bedding and towels were lovely, and we had plenty of hot water throughout the stay. Cleaning - Poor cleaning throughout the property including dust and cobwebs, finding a pizza in the microwave on arrival, old/used coffee pods in the machine. Hot tub - information booklet states the hot tub should be cleaned x3/week. It was not cleaned during our stay. This is a significant health issue, and we now worry the hot tub was not cleaned prior to our stay between guests. Coffee machine - this broke towards the start of our stay and tripped a fuse. We were advised by the company to stand on a plastic bar stool to switch the trip back on. This is an entirely inappropriate suggestion, not knowing the make up or abilities of our group and not taking into account our health and safety. No coffee pods were provided as per the Information booklet. We did eventually receive a new coffee machine, however this was also faulty and leaked water. Dishwasher - this broke towards the start of our stay and was not fixed. Only x2 tea towels and a bathroom hand towel were provided by housekeeping at the start of the stay, and we only received additional materials to wash up with on Thursday after having to request these. We have spent countless hours of our holiday washing up, for 8 people minimum x3 per day. Fridge - faulty, freezing our food despite being at reasonable temperature. This is a food safety issue and subsequently we had to throw food away, we expect the approx cost of this to be at least £200 across the week - including raw and cooked meats, fish, cheeses, dips, milk, fruit/veg, yoghurts etc. A maintenance company attended on Thursday, the issue was not fixed. Games room - no heating, and therefore not usable at certain times of the day due to being so cold. We did not accept the box of chocolates sent by the company, as we quite frankly found this offensive given the amount of issues and lack of resolution we experienced. We have holidayed in self catering properties for many years, and unfortunately this experience has been very disappointing.

Poor response re power failure upon arrival. Tortuous answerphone system and no follow up AT ALL to request for telephone call. Roads leading to property been closed for months due to sea wall fortification which likely to go on for 80 weeks. Therefore, your directions inaccurate and this lack of attention to basic details really annoying. Patio : uncleaned - rotting leaves, weeds etc. Bedroom 4 : undated note from cleaner that velux blind broken so had to remain closed. Also, towel rail in en suite needs bleeding as got progressively colder during week. No information on recycling although schedule was supposed to be on side of 'fridge. General paucity of information on area - taxis, buses, attractions etc. Your information/administration before departure was admirable and efficient but it is clear that no one from your agency has been anywhere near the property recently and this has let you down . I suggest someone from your office telephones me as a matter of courtesy.

    • Mrs McDonald - Verified booking

The house is lovely and well maintained. The location is ideal and is going to be great for anyone visiting in 2025 I'm sure. We weren't so luckyHowever, we were unaware (until we got a call the day before we arrived) of the massive construction project which is ongoing on the promenade to replace/reinforce the sea wall. Work started between 7 and 8am every weekday including diggers, concrete lorries, bulldozers and tipper trucks. Hundreds of men in hard hats and high viz all day long, just 20m from the front door. The noise was constant and horrible. I had a conversation with a site foreman who told us that the optimistic end date for the works is February 2025. So it's a great house with lovely views but our timing was terrible.

The directions given were not good. The itinerary was incorrect and needs updating. No bottle opener! The information re rubbish and recycling incorrect needs to be made clearer. The courtyard space was very dirty when we arrived had not been cleaned for weeks, it was cleaned on Monday. The twin en suite room toilet not working when we arrived fixed on Monday, the en suite to this room needs deep clean. Table cloth also dirty. Large tins of paint in kitchen units. We had problems with noise in the evenings loud music going on till the early hours. The sea view from the living room is blocked by the one parking space, we did not realise this when booking. I would appreciate some feedback on my comments. No visitors book in cottage

    • Ms Elizabeth Phillips - Verified booking

We are very pleased that our comments of last year regarding the standard of cleaning have been heeded; the property was very clean and well prepared for our visit. The location and accommodation configuration are perfect for our group. The kitchen equipment could do with an upgrade: we, again, found the lack of frying pans frustrating and many of the knives were blunt. The lighting in the living room would benefit from an extra lamp and we were surprised that the number for the keys lock pad had not been changed since our visit in 2021. We had a lovely reunion in Mumbles and Promenade View suits us to the ground. Thank you.
