"There is no denying the amazing views, but that's all there is and owners can't rely just on that to rent out a property. The farmers track is passable with a 4x4 as very uneven and high in certain places. If you don't have the clearance under your car you will cause damage. The cottage itself needs a bit of TLC, its a bit tired, unclean and dram. Kitchen windows are permanently misted so obscures the view. The garden is very unkempt, needs weeding, a mow and tidy. Garden furniture old and rotten, no where to eat in the garden to enjoy those views. A small old 2 set bistro set available, but can't cope with 3 people to eat or sit.The cottage smelt awful (pet ammonia smell), very over powering. I used 2 cans of air freshener to mask the smell. We have dogs and my house smells clean so its up to owners to make sure house clean before renting out. The TV is standing on a couple of 2x4 wooden blocks)...why? Property is being rented, therefore a bit of effort needed, as its not cheap to rent! Double bed is awful, springs stick up and squeaks everytime we moved. Both of us suffered sleepless nights and backache. My son got into his single bed on the first night and cried out with pain...plastic plug cover was left under the sheet?? All inside window frames covered in black mold/dirt....a quick wipe with bleach would sort this out.Neighbours dog let out at 4am every morning for an hour and it barked non stop. Not enough kitchen utilises, bowls, cutlery or crockery and only 3 of us! There is nothing nearby no shops, pub too far to walk and was never open. So you do need to drive miles to get food, which ok for us, but if in a low car it will get damaged up the dirt track.I've rented cottages over 20 years with my dogs and family, and this one is the worst, especially considering the price. But we made the most of it and enjoyed the warm weekend on the beaches."

"The cottage is beautifully situated for the coastal walks on our agenda and it’s location in the village is ideal for a walk to the cafe and the pub. However, the lack of any kind of small shop in the village meant getting the car out, which wasn’t really a problem but a local shop would have just made the location ideal. The cottage itself is sweet and cosy and the kitchen facilities were enough for us to be able to cook for ourselves every evening. There were some small drawbacks which, to our mind, would have made the venue perfect.1) Not enough towels by any means in the cottage, just one small towel each and 2 hand towels to share. A bath sheet each would have been perfect, plus a small towel each.2) The wardrobes in the bedrooms could not be used because of the very damp and musty smell- the small room downstairs had no wardrobe at all because the room was very small. 3) The tap in the kitchen drips constantly and according to the reviews in the book in the cottage, has been doing so for a very long time. This became increasingly annoying when eating a friendly meal together, not to mention the waste of water.4) The information regarding recycling was very out of date- we had to drive to Tenby to dispose of our recycling.Overall, a nice little cottage but marred slightly by some annoying issues which could be so easily rectified"

"5 of us and a dog stayed here for 3 days. The house itself is a spacious bungalow with a modern fitted kitchen and bathroom with roll top bath and there is a small outside area. It was clean and comfortable for what we needed however I feel it could do with a few extra things for it to be rated higher. As it can sleep up to six people, I felt the equipment in kitchen was a little sparse especially if you are planning to cook meals (like we did for two of the nights). There was only one shelf in the oven, one small pan, a tiny grater, a minute kitchen bin (we used our own bags so we could separate recycling/food waste! We didn't bring any dishwasher tablets and none were provided. Some general information about the house/area would have been great especially about the bin collections. On the first morning, bins were collected but we didn't realise until going out late morning and as the bins were not out on the pavement, there were not collected. There were already rubbish bags left by previous people by the side of the bins when we arrived as the the recycling bins were already full. The garden could really do with a makeover to bring it in line with the interior of the house as it is a decent size and potential to be lovely area to sit outside to have a meal. All in all, a good stay."

"This is a great base for people who enjoy simplicity. The cottage is relatively small as you would expect for an old, rural Welsh cottage, but as the children spent all spare time playing in the many secret spots in the garden, it was perfectly adequate. We spent every evening eating outside under the distant mountains. I walked the dog every morning on the hill directly out of the back garden gate, and never tired of the stunning views of Portmerion and Harlech castle. There are all the amenities you need in Porthmadog, 20 minutes in the car, or prefect tranquillity if you'd rather it, at the cottage. There's no tumble drier, but the heated towel rail and sitting cupboard meant we could dry clothes when the weather was too changeable to use the clothes line. We had a brilliant week exploring Snowdonia, biking in Cody Brennin, beaches at Borth y gest , Criccieth, and Blackrock sands, crabbing at Porthmadog, taking the train from Talarnau request stop station to Barmouth for fish and chips. If you love the outdoors, this place is an absolute gem."

"Ty Gywn is a wonderful spacious cottage located not too far from Menai Bridge. There was five of us holidaying at the cottage and everyone agreed it was a wonderful location. The cottage is located, in what feels like, the middle of nowhere within 10acres of gardens, most of which are accessible to those staying in the cottage. Our dog loved being able to run around without a lead.We found the cottage clean and tidy with plenty of hot water and a porch area to dry/clean off on the way in after experiencing the lovely Welsh weather. My only minor point to raise is that there is a shower in the master bedroom's ensuite, but the main bathroom, which is downstairs, doesn't have a shower. For those that struggle to live without social media, WiFi access was provided but mobile phone access (on EE at least) is patchy in the house. All on all a great holiday location, which we are hoping to go back to."
