What our customers say about their holidays

    • Katie - Verified booking

I received a phone call today telling me that the owner noticed we had been using the hot tub and that the owner did not want it to be used at this time of year.

When I booked the property the week before, the property included the hot tub and didn't say anything about the time of year restrictions. When we arrived we received a welcome basket, which had all the manuals and instructions to all appliances and hot tub. The tub was not filled when we arrived which we thought was because it had just been cleaned. We were very disappointed we had to fill and wait 36 hours until we could use the tub-specially when it was advertised as available. We thought oh well, with the views and how well presented and welcomed we felt, then it's just one of those things. We arrived on monday and now on thursday when are over half way through our stay (we leave saturday) the owner comes round when we have popped out, then contacts you to contact us to tell us off. I did receive an apology from Abigail your staff member for contacting me about the owners concerns. Think its bad that the owner comes round to check up on you, not very relaxing and now has really upset my/our visit and experience. There was no need to contact us we had done nothing wrong and I had to take time out of my holiday to try and get through to your office and be put on hold. Not relaxing and a violation of privacy. I was raving about this property and location to my family and friends, taking pictures and saying everyone you need to come and stay here!!... now I dont think I will be returning! After being falsely accused and the lack of privacy. I hope this does get feed back to the owner and I would like a response as this has now really disturbed my holiday and the other guests. Is someone just going to turn up again without warning? Kind regards Katie Higgins

A beautiful little cottage with stunning views.

We arrived for our stay to a lovely welcome hamper, bottle of bubbles and some chocolates. Each room was decorated lovely and had its own character. We did look around but there wasn’t any instructions / comments left in the property which I think would’ve been useful as we didn’t know the area and with the property not having Wi-Fi I could look things up. Our first night was lovely and the additional touches of fairy lights in the garden were really great. We stayed in the master bedroom at the front of the property. One negative thing I would say is that this property is on a busy main road and the hotel opposite often has deliveries etc so we woke up to a loud lorry reversing and the cars speeding down the road - this isn’t something anyone could sleep through and we had the windows closed so many double glazing to shield some of that noise? There was sufficient bedding and towels left which were great as well as cleaning supplies in the kitchen! We spent most evenings in the hot tub enjoying the view and with the beautiful garden it felt so secluded and private it was wonderful. As mentioned earlier with the instructions, we left the property clean and emptied the indoor bin etc but there were no specifics left.. it wasn’t until I got home and had Wi-Fi again that an email came through from Sykes with checkout instructions.. this was a gap. I would suggest getting Wi-Fi or leaving clear instructions for checking out. All in all, We had a wonderful stay and I would love to visit again.

**Rating: 0/5** SERIOUS ISSUES NOT RESOLVED BY EITHER THE PROPERTY OWNER OR SYKES.

AVOID! The cottage is simply not clean and hasn’t been maintained properly since it was initially restored. There is mould in the showers and kitchen cupboards, a gap in the main door, and the upstairs shower doesn’t drain correctly, causing water to pool in the tray. Various reviews have highlighted these issues in the past, so it is disappointing that the owner hasn’t addressed them. The garden, although lovely and the hot tub is a nice feature, is overgrown, making it challenging to use the facilities. The outdoor table and chairs are unusable. There was a significant amount of dust on all ornaments, and the bedroom curtains were inconsistent—some blackouts, some not (in the same room) making it difficult to sleep as it got light by 5 am. The advert suggests the property has an open fire, which is untrue; it is an electric fire. While the location and views are beautiful, we did not get value for money. I would seriously ask Sykes whether they should continue advertising this property until all issues are resolved. Unfortunately the Sykes customer service team have now been sat on my complaints for 2 months, and Melissa is now refusing to respond to me. I will be perusing a charge back via my credit card company.

We were pleasantly surprised at how lovely the cottage was as we read a few reviews that nearly put us off booking it!

It’s a beautiful place where the cottage is situated, the views are amazing and we recommend taking some binoculars so you can nosey at the boats that pass by. We were a family of four plus a dog and there was ample room inside and outside, the hot tub is in an ideal place to relax and watch the world go by. There was a fabulous hamper of goodies plus wine on our arrival which was lovely. It’s near the lovely town of Beaumaris which is full of nice cafes and shops etc, the pier was very popular for crabbing. The one thing we feel would be a big improvement would be blinds on the Velux windows in each bedroom as it was so light in the morning waking us up early. The two upstairs bedrooms are really nice, nice big beds and lots of room. The downstairs bedroom not nearly as nice and did smell a bit musty but it was ok for one person as a small room. Additionally the TV was very small and not a great picture on it, however it made us read more and not watch as much tv so it was a positive in a way. The living room is really comfortable and seemed to have a new set of couches which were nice and comfy. All in all we would stay here again as in such a great spot and the views are wonderful.

We've just returned from a few nights away at the cottage for a friend's birthday and absolutely loved it.

There were six of us, and the cottage provided plenty of room, with three double rooms (unlike most which have bunk beds or pull outs but say they fit six people) and two bathrooms one of which was an en suite. We arrived to a lovely hamper including chocolates, prosecco and a number of other goodies (including jammie dodgers, which was great for my girlfriend who's vegan) I've seen people complaining that there's no WiFi, but to be honest it was quite peaceful and most of us had signal around the property anyway. The hot tub fit the six of us in no problem and the garden and undercover snug were beautiful. It does take quiet a while for the water to warm up, so don't expect to get in the night of your arrival, but once it does its very relaxing. It's about 5 minutes drive into Menai where there are plenty of pubs and cafes. The Green Olive was our favourite (because it was fully vegan and delicious) All in all, we'd definitely go back again for another visit and further exploration of the beautiful area!
