"Our holiday got of to a bad start from the beginning. We could not find the parking space so we parked a few hundred yards up the road. We proceeded on foot to find the property, but unlike the photo on the website the front of the house was the back of the house which made it more difficult to find. It would help if the name of the property was on the gate. We carried the luggage a few hundred yards and met the owners immediately on arrival, she spent a few mins with us showing us around the flat, but did not help us with our luggage up the steep steps. The parking spaces where occupied by other members of the family who never introduced themselves to us.On our first full day of our holiday we visited the local area for a couple of hours, but left the dog in the flat, which we would normally do at home. On our arrival back we where confronted by the owner who informed us that the dog is not allowed to be left alone in the flat as he was heard scratching the floor boards and could have been jumping on the furniture. We did read the folder later that day which confirmed (Your dog is not allowed on the furniture, and not allowed to be left alone in the flat.) When we booked the flat we where not informed of these rules and regulations, if we had known we would not have booked this flat. We paid more money for the dog, plus extra money for insurance for this supposedly dog friendly place. We cannot take the dog to the pub/cafe etc because he would bark all the time. Our holiday from then on was severely restricted. The flat is not suitable for the older generation because of the steep stairs to the flat and the internal stairs in the flat. (although we where aware of the steps outside). We never met the owners again. They never presented themselves on our leaving day/hourso we put the key in their letter box.Any future visitors should pack or purchase on arrival Tea,Coffee, condiments, toilet rolls etc.We still don't know where the paddock is for the dog, the vineyard or the restaurant."

"The owner was lovely on arrival, the cottage is a good size, has top quality appliances and was very well equipped but it wasn't clean. The owner was aware of previous reviews but was dismissive that their cottage wasnt clean. I don't mean to be rude but feel if I list our issues they will know what to look for. I had to wash the cutlery drawer, cutlery, pans and drink dispenser as had old food/ drink on them. There was a blood stain on the master mattress that you could see through the sheet. The carpet on stairs was covered in dog hair and when we moved the living room rug and bedside table to a place more suited to us it was clear it hadn't been hovered under for some time. The garden wasn't safe for the children though the owner did cut the grass on the second day ( it was very long) the edges are covered in stinging nettles, brambles and old logs. Plus there is a open bonfire area just in the middle. It was also not clear to me the garden and the washing machine was shared and our view of the garden most days was the owners washing. Which also put us off using the garden. The area was lovey with beautiful local walks and in easy reach for the Peak District and Sheffield. The swimming pool in Sheffield was a big hit with the children. The cottage has the potential to be wonderful if the cleaning was better."

"Location very good for our needs, No difficulty for parking space, quiet road and road users patient while dropping off persons, very good in extras, soap, towels bedding, toilet paper,a little milk, tea, coffee. The vac did not work properly, the bathroom light pull switch erratic, the oven was either high or low on setting, thermostat? Indoor doors warped a little but gave it that lived in feel.Front door sticks at the bottom, under the seat cushion bits not vacced up, missed Suggestion - Could do with another two full size dining chairs instead of the fold downs, could be put elsewhere. as four adults was difficult to sit together at the table. A sofa bed could be useful. No big deal overall as the place was otherwise a Joy to be there, in fact snowed in one day and warm enough, nice touches in decorations, information books and games, even take away places delivery info. I am pleased if you edit this to your satisfaction as if there are big issues which is not the case and easily solved We were here a week and would love to go here again."

""What is not to like about Emley Woodhouse?" It was my first time renting a house like this in the UK and we were pleasantly surprised. I wanted to pick somewhere quiet, and tranquil for my parents 40th wedding anniversary and it was both those things. The challenge when your traveling with a large group, 8 adults and 6 kids is to find a place where your not on top of each other. The house is very well spaced out with lots of different areas if you wanted some quiet time. The décor is modern and the artwork is something that just makes the property. All rooms are good and spacious. One of the wow factors of this property is the garden and the walks straight from it onto the fields. Kids loved the freedom! While we were there the weather was beautiful which just made our stay there such a memorable one. We had a lovely party for my parents 40th anniversary and we wont be forgetting this house in a hurry."
