What our customers are saying about our Self Catering Holidays In Kirklees.

- Mrs Dunn, July 2018 - verified booking

"My granddaughter and I spent 2 wonderful weeks at Bobbin cottage . It was a definate home from home . The owner Jane is lovely and keen to ensure you not only enjoy your stay but that everything is perfect for you. Next door neighbour Jenny and her friendly pooch Albert have now become our friends and my granddaughter enjoyed taking Albert for walks down to the park at the bottom of the lane. I meant to leave a note in the book in the cottage if you hire a car (enterprise on queens rd are super and give free upgrades) then coming out the cottage take a right up the lane , then left up Baldwin lane the views are beautiful and a much more scenic route to surrounding areas. Keelham farm is a wonderful visit , a petting corner for children, and pigs, sheep, turkeys to see . Surronded by beautiful countryside you can buy a fresh sandwich and coffee and sit enjoying the views , but the real treasure at keelham is the actual farm shop , amazing the butchers has to be the best in the county with fresh meats and home made burgers and sausages. Another visit close by in the opposite direction is Saltaire , salts mill is host to the David Hockney gallery and there’s ample parking at the mill and lots of coffee and tea shops in the village as well as in the mill, a walk along the canal is lovely at this point. Of course whilst in Bradford a meal out is a must at any of the 100s of restaurants akbars and Mumtaz probably my favourites and dessert at any of the 100s of new ice cream and desserts shops along great Horton or Leeds road. The new Syrian restaurants especially babatooma are also great value especially if you like grills. For anyone visiting Bradford first time do enjoy the diversity of this city go take a look at Bombay Stores a huge department store selling everything for the Asian cook, and fabrics galore , it has also a haberdashery and Jewellry areas. Remember Friday 1pm if you are in great Horton /Manningham/Bradford moor areas is Jummah prayer so roads will be busy as the local community attend mosques, do visit one , the people of Bradford are all friendly and welcoming . Of course Haworth , Harrogate and York are all a very short drive out the city and all charming and beautiful to visit . Thank you Jane for the best of welcomes The cottage I love So much I’ve booked again for Xmas"

"The pretty cottage was located on an extremely steep hill side because of this it was hard to get to from the road at the bottom and we are both very fit and active. Unfortunately there was no dedicated parking on Back lane that would have enabled access from the road above and most of the time we could not find a space, it was just all taken and therefore we had to go to a car park.Once inside it was over 3 levels, the steps into the kitchen in the basement were exceedingly steep and we had to carry two of the three dogs up/down, they were also very difficult for us to navigate, made even more difficult because of the height of the low ceiling over the steep steps (there was a hand rail which helped a little) . My husband at 6'4" could not stand upright on the steps and in significant parts of the kitchen. The majority of the opening windows are tiny and trying to get the bedrooms, even the rest of the house to cool down, not even on the hottest of days was very difficult. A couple of the other windows were locked with no key apparent. On a more positive note, the cottage was otherwise clean and had all that was required, the lounge was a bit dated but that is just personal taste. The owner came to greet us and left us a very nice box of treats for us and our 4 legged friends. The town was pretty with a great leisure centre and some nice eateries. There was a helpful supply of maps and guidebooks on the bookcase. On this occasion sadly this cottage was unfortunately not for us for all of the reasons stated."

"The owner was lovely on arrival, the cottage is a good size, has top quality appliances and was very well equipped but it wasn't clean. The owner was aware of previous reviews but was dismissive that their cottage wasnt clean. I don't mean to be rude but feel if I list our issues they will know what to look for. I had to wash the cutlery drawer, cutlery, pans and drink dispenser as had old food/ drink on them. There was a blood stain on the master mattress that you could see through the sheet. The carpet on stairs was covered in dog hair and when we moved the living room rug and bedside table to a place more suited to us it was clear it hadn't been hovered under for some time. The garden wasn't safe for the children though the owner did cut the grass on the second day ( it was very long) the edges are covered in stinging nettles, brambles and old logs. Plus there is a open bonfire area just in the middle. It was also not clear to me the garden and the washing machine was shared and our view of the garden most days was the owners washing. Which also put us off using the garden. The area was lovey with beautiful local walks and in easy reach for the Peak District and Sheffield. The swimming pool in Sheffield was a big hit with the children. The cottage has the potential to be wonderful if the cleaning was better."

- Mr Merrick, June 2018 - verified booking

"The little things like, the quality of the toilet paper, are what makes holidays like this more comfortable and more like home from home. Jane (the host) left a comprehensive information pack with everthing from how to operate the heating (not required in June) to where to eat or go for a walk. A host of information pamphlets were available to give you loads of ideas on what to do. The kitchen was exceptionaly well appointed and clean with everthing required to cater for yourself. The bed was comfortable and although the road appeared busy outside, there was little or no noise over night making for a peacful nights sleep. The location made for easy access to surrounding locations (Howarth, Ilkley, Saltaire etc.) and amenities in the local area were well suited. The neighbours were very pleasant and eager to give information if needed. Overall a great place to see the local area wether you want countryside, town/city or cultural activities."
