"What a find!!!If you want shops, pubs, restaurants etc within a 15 mins walk, this is NOT the place for you. However, if you don't mind a short drive (under 10 mins) to a fabulous local eatery, or 15 mins to a town, eg Hereford, and you love peace, tranquility, a comfortable stay and lots of varied walking from the doorstep - this IS the place for you.Annette and Malcolm are lovely hosts, very friendly, welcoming and helpful. They have created a lovely comfortable and relaxing place to stay in such beautiful surroundings. It was a real privilege to be able to walk across their grounds, meeting Pow Wow the horse, the sheep and the guinea fowl on the way. We enjoyed walks in the woods, along local footpaths and even walked down to the river Wye (3 miles), using the lanes and footpaths. NB it is a gentle climb on the way back!We were very fortunate with the weather and only had one drizzly day. It was great just sitting in the beautiful gardens, catching up on some books and appreciating nature. There is a lovely spot down by the pond where you can sit in the afternoon sun watching the dragonflies doing their acrobatics. Two duelling robins flew in through the open door one lunchtime - not sure who was the most surprised! We were able to visit family near Builth Wells while we were there (1.5 hours drive). We had lovely meals at the Cottage of Content at Carey, and the New Harp Inn at Hoarwithy, both under 10 mins by car, dog friendly and serving excellent food. The lanes can be quite narrow, but there are passing places and it is not very busy.Harry and Tess, our two dogs, thoroughly enjoyed their week away too and appreciated the varied walks and the lovely gardens. Thanks again, Annette and Malcolm, we definitely hope to visit again."

"What a wonderful house. Everything so well furnished, well thought out and luxurious and so comfortable for family, children and baby. The welcome pack was amazing, certainly the best and most welcoming we have ever had. All was local produce and included where to source them. We bought some extra from the local suggested sources. The kitchen was amazing. We used the Aga and the pizza oven which were excellent. It was great having so many well thought out kitchen utensils, cutlery etc. All perfect for a celebration and made everything so relaxing. The beds were amazingly comfortable and we all loved the soft furnishing etc. We were so well catered for, including a celebration cake for my husband’s birthday, made by Helen and wonderful. Everywhere was very clean, the bathrooms all brilliant. We did a couple of National Trust places locally and had walks and explored Bromyard and Leominster. It was a most memorable house, the best we have ever stayed in. The design is perfect for family inter generational meet up and celebrations. My only regret was that we could not stay in it for ever, we will definitely be returning though. Thank you to Helen for making the house so fabulous and making us so welcome."

"As a growing family of four generations we spent Christmas at Mabley away from any of our homes for the first time ever to enable us to all be together. And we were not disappointed. We even had Christmas trees in the living room and the sun room. Excellent. Mabley is set in beautiful surroundings and the facilities are wonderful. The welcome hamper was full of delicious produce most of it being sourced from local producers and much appreciated by us. The kitchen is very well equipped. The house is very warm and comfortable and there is enough space for everyone to relax. The view from the sun room is amazing and probably the room where we all spent the most time. Our only regret was that we did not have the time to make full use of the extensive outdoor facilities. As keen cooks we would loved to have had the time to use the pizza oven and the barbeque. It must be amazing in the summer.Thank you to Helen & Steve for their hospitality."

"A lovely "cottage" (actually a large house) very well equipped with lots of space both inside and outside. Modern comforts combined with traditional features and the option of dining inside or al fresco, and relaxing - either in the traditional sitting room, or in the modern conservatory, or outside in the open or under a shelter. The views across the countryside from the terrace are lovely. The games room was great fun but we were blessed with good weather so we didn't make as much use of it as we might have done had it rained. Our only criticism is that the kitchen was a bit too high tech for us (using the hob was a challenge!) and, considering there was more than enough crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment, it was surprising that only one tea-towel was supplied for a whole week (we had to request an extra one). Plus the flies (of which there were a lot) - but that's the countryside for you."

"We have stayed in many holiday cottages before but, without doubt, this was the best by far. We had a friends gathering and found this to be the perfect place. It is a clever and beautiful combination of a restored family home and a spacious, extortionately well equipped, contemporary extension. Everyone found themselves wandering around going "wow" at things; everything, from the decoration to furnishings, was all high quality and in complete keeping with its surroundings. It's a lovely, warm and cosy house sitting in beautiful countryside with fantastic views down the valley. The welcome pack was something else, the likes of which I have never before experienced. It was packed with local produce and a simply delicious home made cake. A really nice and generous touch by the owners Helen and Steve. We all had a really, really good weekend and are already looking to organise a return stay."
