"Lovely little holiday flat with great owner and friendly helpful neighbours. Pretty much everything you need for a week's holiday tv, oven, microwaves, washing machine, buckets and spades. No tumble dryer but plenty of radiator clothes airer so wasn't essential. Beds and sofas comfy. Secure back area ideal for the dog. 8 minute walk to the beach and 5 mins to local shop for essentials. 10 minutes to Tyne Tunnel. Lidl and Aldi 5 minutes away. I organised a Tesco Delivery for our good though which arrived no problem. No issues with parking lots of space. Would have been a 10 across the board if a couple of niggles were addressed. Electric and gas weren't on meter and requiring top up (no mention of this when booking). With the cost of the accomodation I would expect this to be included. In addition in the house we couldn't get any mobile phone reception nor internet. Which in this day and age makes organising day trips etc tricky. Again for the cost and would expect wifi (even if there was a small surcharge for this if you wanted it.)"

"We had a lovely 2 week stay at this holiday letting. Very quiet, private location with a beautifully landscaped yard and a view to a field with grazing horses. The beds and linens were the best quality and the kitchen was first class. We ate in some nights but also dined out; a pub is within walking distance and 2 other restaurants are a short drive away.I love a good bathroom - both were equipped to a high standard and the shower had great water pressure, loads of hot water and nice towels. We explored Northumberland and Durham and becausethere are several bus stops close by we went by bus to Gateshead and Newcastle so we didn't have to worry about parking. Just a short walk to the Beamish Open Air Museum - a lovely place well worth a visit - we actually spent several pleasant days leisurely exploring the grounds. This is a very nice cottage and Andrea is helpful if you need her. I booked because of the beautiful photos and good reviews and was happy to find it actually exceeded my expectations. "

"The cottage itself was lovely and the grounds and area peaceful and quiet, but what totally let this cottage down was the cleanliness. The cleanliness was appalling. I had to thoroughly clean the place when we arrived the toilets, shower head, cutlery, drawers, dishes, fridge and sofa in particular were all disgusting. Even had spider webs all over the place. I was disappointed but just cleaned and tried to be positive about the cottage we were staying on over the next week. That was until I pulled back the bedding late at night to reveal marks on the fitted sheet. I had a poor night's sleep and phoned the owner next morning. The owner did apologise and bedding and toilet but disappointment had already set in. This definitely was not 4star accommodation at all. When l left I cleaned up and removed bedding unfortunately I removed the mattress protector to find a revolting mattress covered in stains put it bluntly I won't be back!!"

"We all enjoyed our stay at Pig Run Barn. The cottage was set in the farm courtyard and the views over the fields were lovely. The kitchen was well equipped and the bedrooms were comfortable with en-suite facilities in both. We were welcomed by a cup of tea and a homemade Victoria sponge made by the owner's daughter which was much appreciated. We visit Beamish Museum with vouchers given by the cottage owner which entitled us to 25% off. This meant that tickets cost £10.50 each and they entitle us to go as often as we want for a year. We went twice in the week as the museum had so much for us to see. The Ravensworth Arms is only a mile or so down the road and serves lovely food as does the Causey Inn. The four of us would happily return to Pig Run Barn again."

"The owner was very welcoming but then left us to enjoy our stay (making it clear we could contact him if needed). The property itself was clean and there were some lovely touches such as a fabulous Christmas tree! My husband and I were staying at the cottage along with his Mum & Dad, and we were joined on Christmas day by 2 other adults and their baby. We had everything we needed for a pleasant stay and to cook dinner. The only slight issue was the fact the beds in both bedrooms were up against the wall, making it quite awkward to get in and out. Wouldn't stop us staying again, but something others may need to be aware of. Location is excellent - very close to local amenities but still feels like you're way out in the countryside!"
