About this property

Manod 0.25 miles. A delightful, 18th century, stone-built terraced cottage, situated on the outskirts of Manod, just over a mile miles from the historic slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. Tan y Rhos is one of the original cottages built around 1760 and predates the development of the town. This cottage is an ideal base for couples, friends or a family who enjoy walking and the great outdoors. Surrounded by dramatic scenery, this charming open plan property boasts glorious mountain views from most aspects and has been sympathetically renovated to retain much original character, including exposed beams, slate flagstone flooring in the kitchen, quarry tiled flooring in the sitting area together with a large, and impressive inglenook fireplace with a woodburning stove, ideal for those chillier evenings or when you just want to curl up and watch your favourite film. The kitchen is well-equipped with a comfy dining area and two delightful bedrooms and a shower room upstairs complete this charming cottage. The cottage has a lovely terraced rear patio and seating area and is a perfect place to relax after a long day on the mountains with a glass of something chilled. Being elevated, it makes an ideal vantage point from which to enjoy the scenic countryside and mountainous views. The surrounding area offers beautiful countryside and stunning views, with the Manod Mawr and Bach mountains and the hidden Manod Lake directly opposite the property. Nearby Blaenau Ffestiniog offers an array of shops, cafes, restaurants, tea rooms, pubs and a cinema. Llechwedd Slate Caverns offers a world-class downhill mountain bike track, ZipWorld Titan and Caverns, the largest zip wire zone in Europe and the exciting Bounce Below underground trampolines. For something a little less exhausting but just as exciting is the world-famous Ffestiniog narrow gauge steam railway which is definitely worth a ride. Enjoy the nearby bustling town of Porthmadog with its marina, or the enormous beach at Black Rock Sands, whilst Bodnant Gardens and Mount Snowdon itself are both within easy reach. This cottage is charming and provides a lovely retreat for all the family, any time of the year.

Situated between the impressive Manod and Moelwyn mountains near the centre of Snowdonia National Park is the charming village of Manod. Once the capital of slate quarrying and known as the 'City of Slate' in the 18th Century, the town of Blaenau Ffestiniog is just one and a half miles away and makes for an interesting place to visit. With a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, this charming settlement is situated in an elevated, natural bowl amongst the local mountains and is best known for its renowned Llechwedd Slate Cavern, hydroelectric power station and famous narrow gauge Ffestiniog Railway. There are also a number of walking and cycling trails through the incredible surrounding countryside, as well as the National Mountain Centre at Plas y Brenin and a number of wonderful sandy beaches, great golf courses and renowned white-water rafting opportunities.
