A traditional stone cottage on the outskirts of Dolgellau, sleeps 4-6, close to the town's facilities, ideal for touring south Snowdonia National Park and coastline; not suitable for young children or the infirm.

This attractive detached stone cottage is situated on the outskirts of Dolgellau, on the road leading up to Cadair Idris, with views over the town to the mountains and within walking distance of a range of local facilities. Frongaled retains much of its original cottage charm, with beamed ceilings, stone walls and a lovely old front door, whilst benefiting from an extension providing a good-sized kitchen and a first floor sitting room with access out onto the terraced patio area.

Whilst the cottage can sleep six people, it is more suited to parties of four; not suitable for young children or less able guests.

The accommodation comprises:

Entrance Porch: with access to the ground floor bedroom and dining room.

Dining Room: with dining table and four chairs, woodburning stove, two fireside chairs, WiFi router and phone.

Kitchen: fully fitted and well equipped with electric single oven, gas hob, tall fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. Breakfast bar and two stools.

Bedroom 1: on the ground floor, with double bed.

Bathroom: a contemporary ground floor bathroom with shower over the bath, WC and basin.

The old staircase from the dining room leads up to a landing area with two bedrooms off.

Bedroom 2: double bedroom with dual aspect windows over the town to the mountains.

Bedroom 3: with twin beds.

A new staircase from the kitchen leads up to the sitting room.

Sitting Room: on the first floor, with wooden flooring, leather sofa and armchair, futon sofa, flat screen TV with Sky free channels and DVD player. DOuble doors lead out onto the terraced patio and garden.

Outside: Steeply terraced gardens, with steep stone and slate steps, raised patio area with garden furniture and small barbecue, lower sitting area with stone bench accessed via a slate slab over a fast-flowing mountain stream. Due to unprotected water courses, stone and slate steps (which can be slippery)and steep drops, the gardens are not suitable for young children or the infirm; all children should be supervised in the garden. Log store.

Parking: On street parking. It is possible to pull up immediately outside to unload, but this is a narrow part of the road; parking is safer some 50-100 metres further uphill across the road.

Dolgellau is a popular market town in the south Snowdonia National Park, with a range of shops, pubs and eating places within walking distance of the cottage. Coed y Brenin is just a few miles north of the town, for mountain biking and forest walks. For a more leisurely walk or cycle ride, try the Mawddach Trail. A short drive west takes you to the coast at either Fairbourne or Barmouth (either side of the Mawddach Estuary). There is a Nature Reserve at nearby Penmaenpool, with the popular George III pub/restaurant and a toll bridge across the estuary. Barmouth is a popular seaside town with long sandy beach, arcades and leisure centre. Fairbourne has a sand and pebble beach, and a miniature steam railway. Dolgellau is an excellent base from which to explore mountains, lakes and coastline of this beautiful area rich in stunning scenery.
